One thing I do like about this game is how the English teams finally seem a little less overpowered. I don't know if you guys had the same experience, but at least since FIFA 13 Chelsea would be in the CL final nearly 100% of the time. And teams like ManU, ManC and even Tottenham would regularly make it to the semi-finals. Well, in my Real Madrid game, Arsenal actually managed to win the league, and I play Atletico in the CL final, with all Engish teams having been eliminated in the quarter finals.

Single player DLC costs a lot of money to make, and now that the game has been panned in the reviews they know it's not going to attract a lot of new players. Instead they're focusing on multiplayer content, which is an easy cash grab by comparison. There was a really good video on YouTube that broke this down, but sadly I can't find it right now.

It was a decent game, but pretty flawed and nowhere near the level of the original games. It was also rushed to release by EA because they wanted to cash in on the franchise name, meaning that now we won't get any single player DLC for the game now.

Made a second career mode with Tottenham. Started playing in a 4-4-2 system and it's working wonders so far. Oh wow, the game just updated and now you can actually negotiate a contract after the release clause has been paid. Good thing too because now Dortmund is after Carvajal...

Luckily I still have a save from before the offer was made (didn't play any matches since then) so I'll just try to offer him a new contract.

The release clauses are bullshit. Clubs can just pay the release clause and you can't do anything about it. Already half a season in Manchester City paid the release clause for Sergio Ramos.

No, I spent 5 minutes in that mode in FIFA 17 to see what it was, and then I realised that I don't care for it at all.

I've heard people say the defending is harder, but if anything I find it easier to do 1-on-1 marking, although the ball does get through in the chaos more often than I'd like. Just had a terrific match in career mode. My first derbi and it lived up to the hype. I was getting absolutely slaughtered in the first half, so in half-time I decided to go all or nothing (since I already had nothing). Took Benzema off, moved Ronaldo to the front, put Marcelo on the left flank as a full-blown attacker, swapped Modric for Isco, and put in Kroos for Asensio. Basically the most fast and attacking formation I could push together, and absolutely raped them on the counter. Feels good when your HT changes actually make a difference.

Currently trying to set the commentary language to English, which is surprisingly convoluted. It is truly amazing how it has been AT LEAST since FIFA 11 that you couldn't simply change the commentary language in-game, and that the Dutch commentary has been 80% the same since FIFA 13, in addition to being badly acted by the most annoying commentator who mispronounces every name that isn't Dutch.

Playing through the original Mass Effect trilogy again after beating Andromeda a while ago. Currently at Mass Effect 2. It probably has the best atmosphere with that neo Tokyo Blade Runner style going on. I still think ME3 is the best game, but the looming threat of the final battle makes it a bit depressing to play at times.

The first time in forever I got a FIFA game at launch date. I've started a career mode with Real Madrid, which I hadn't done since FIFA 07. But with the current team I just can't resist the temptation to play all the top teams in the league and the CL. I also made a back-up career mode to play with other teams. I started at Tottenham and got Bas Dost for way too much money (€50mln). Overall I like the new gameplay as it's very pass-oriented, but it does once again seem slow. If you change direction with any player that isn't Ronaldo, you accelerate at a snail's pace.

It's weird because tensions culminated so much under the Mourinho era that you'd think people have calmed down by now. For the most part this is true, but Ramos seems to have gotten progressively worse. He was one of my favourite footballers ever since he came over from Sevilla, but I'm really starting to grow tired of his shenanigans. By contrast, Marcelo has grown into my favourite player of the whole bunch.

Barcelona's defence in their golden era is indeed underestimated. They were so good they succeeded for years to obscure the fact they had a very mediocre goalkeeper (Valdes). I remember reading a statistic in the 2006/07 season or the one after that which showed that Casillas had let in just a few more goals than Valdes despite receiving literally 3 times as many shots on goal.
