Subscriber nudge+ Posted July 5, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted July 5, 2020 Norris takes P3 with the fastest lap, gets within 5s of Hamilton just before the finish line! Fantastic race
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 5, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted July 5, 2020 Madness. Albon was about to win that race. He should have been more patient but really unlucky with that collision.
MUFC
Not a good start for Lewis finishing 4th. Especially with less races this season.

Moderator Tommy Posted July 5, 2020 Moderator Share Posted July 5, 2020 Really gutted for Albon. He drove such a good race, and his move on Lewis was ballsy af. Anyway, extremely happy for Lando! And Charles' showed why he's Ferrari's Number One. How did he get that piece of shit on 2nd place? Great drive.
Subscriber nudge+ Posted July 5, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted July 5, 2020 With all those retirements (felt like the 90s again haha) and safety cars, can't help but feel that Max would have won this, so it's even more annoying that he was forced to retire with electrical issue... Albon could have won the race for himself too, can't blame him for going for that huge gap on the outside, but the penalty for Lewis was harsh; thought it was a typical racing incident. Either way, glad the penalty was given though, as it prevented another Mercedes clean sweep and has shaken up the field a bit, and hopefully it will keep the championship battle more interesting. What's really worrying is both RB cars retiring due to technical issues, it seems they and Honda will have some things to sort out. Extremely happy for Norris, phenomenal last lap there. Definitely deserved his podium. McLaren looking good overall, both in race pace and reliability. Probably 3rd fastest car on the grid at this point, not far from RB and ahead of both Racing Point (or equal with them) and Ferrari. Not much difference between those, should make for a very interesting battle this season. Ferrari and Leclerc must be delighted with P2, a lot of luck involved, but well done for taking advantage of it and getting the strategy right this time. Leclerc's overtake on Perez was pure class. So late on the brakes, fantastic! Excellent damage limitation for what appeared to be a very very poor weekend. Mercedes in the league of their own, but it seems their engine might also have reliability issues. Reliability seems to be quite a big deal for most of the teams at this point, it is frustrating but also a welcome addition for unpredictability, to be honest. So both Merc cars had gearbox problems, Stroll was forced to retire with a sensor failure, Russell had problems with fuel pressure, apparently. Both Haas cars out with brake failure, cooling issue for Ricciardo's Renault. Electrical problem for Max, engine failure (?) for Albon. Did I miss anything? Sauber disappointing as usual, but at least the race pace looked better than quali. Bring on Race 2!!!
Subscriber nudge+ Posted July 5, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted July 5, 2020 There's footage of Hamilton ignoring the doube yellow and gaining 2s on Bottas as a result. Another investigation incoming? 3-in-1 would be quite an acheivement

He said that while Brazil last year was more like 50-50, this one was on Lewis and then called him a sore loser on the team radio
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 5, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted July 5, 2020 The Brazil one was fully Lewis' fault. This one was more Lewis than Alex fault but more unfortunate than anything.

Moderator Tommy Posted July 5, 2020 Moderator Share Posted July 5, 2020 This is interesting to see. How the engineer tells Lando when and how long he can use the overtake button on the last lap to close the 5 second gap to Lewis. I think that power unit might be done for, but it sure was worth it. Still an incredible lap by Lando! https://streamable.com/6x8m9l

MUFC
I might get stick for saying this. But regarding Lewis, just the way things felt during the race and what the pit team were saying. It kind of had a 2016 season feeling to it when Rosberg won the title.
