Administrator Stan Posted January 28, 2021 Author Administrator Posted January 28, 2021 Just seen the goals. I know goal-keepers are overly protected but if you're allowing the Bryan goal to stand, then what Maguire does on Ramsdale has to be allowed. That question of consistency again. Either both should be allowed or neither. In my opinion, they both should be allowed. What annoys me is actually how much goal-keepers get away with - is it not dangerous play when keepers come out with their knee about 3 foot in the air and injuring players in their backs? Far more dangerous and more of a foul than what Sharp and Maguire are alleged to have done. Ederson is probably the worst for being reckless. He has a vast history of absolutely clattering players and gets away with it every time.

Pogba won't close the goal scorer because there's a man on the box who would be free and open if he did, Bruno isn't really marking anyone and should be sticking to the man on the box to allow Pogba to close down the goalscorer, after the ball is poorly cleared by De Gea this switches up a bit and then Pogba becomes closer to the man on the edge of the box and Bruno the goalscorer, but if they had closed their men down earlier this wouldn't have been a problem imo. In fairness though there were a lot of problems with that goal for United Agree with that. Especially the last line. Man Utd players seemed to be so static. De Gea's clearance typified it. It was lazy. What you say about Pogba is correct too - for a good period of time in that passage of play he's just standing still. He sees Burke and is open and it could be a case of seeing Matic nearer so expects him to pick Burke up, but there has to be more mobility there. Maybe too much ball-watching.

I saw Ferdinand praise Bruno for his sprint towards the goal scorer but tbh, if it was Pogba he’d be lambasted for sprinting too late. Which is what Bruno done, both midfielders needed better communication there.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted January 28, 2021 Subscriber Posted January 28, 2021 I've not analysed the replays loads but my first impression was that the right decisions were made. De Gea gets involved in pushing and shoving because he's weak in those scenarios where he gets crowded out. I know what people are saying about goalkeepers being protected, but that one is borderline for me, I wouldn't be kicking off if it had been ruled out. The Maguire on Ramsdale one is a stonewall foul though, he doesn't just crowd him out, he deliberately comes across his path from a few feet away and impedes him.
