McLaren are fast, I wonder if they've got enough to be the close 3rd best team that can get a couple of wins throughout the season like Red Bull/Ferrari have been for most of the hybrid era.

Every lap I see from the Mercedes today, both drivers are running wide and struggling with corner exit. Also consistently falling away in sector three on the soft tyres. They've still got work to do, yet their pace is still right up there.

Tsunoda with some good pace. The other rookies look like they'll be having their own fight over 19th place with Schumacher ahead of Mazepin for now. Aston Martin a bit quicker this afternoon but still seen next to nothing from Alpine. Kimi lost his front wing earlier and also may have damaged the rear against the barriers.

Carefully getting my hopes up that the Mercedes domination as it was could be a little bit more shaky this season. McLaren look "wicked quick" too as Will Buxton would put it. Alpine look a bit off the pace, and big question marks behind Aston Martin too.

Verstappen going to take some stopping this weekend. Perez sadly seems a long way behind him going into qualifying. Bottas also seems to be struggling a lot more with the Mercedes than Hamilton is. Looks like a Max/Lewis front row while their team-mates are so far off they could be in range of a McLaren, Alpha Tauri or even Ferrari stealing P3.

Aston Martin and Alpine have had a very quiet set of practice sessions. Alfa Romeo have actually shown more flashes of pace than either throughout the weekend so far. Could be an outside bet to sneak one of their cars into Q3. Haas look a bit closer to Williams today.

Mick again faster than Mazepin and Latifi. Hopefully that will also be the case in qualifying.

Max and the RB16B look fantastic, looks like they really nailed it this time.

Mazepin looks way off the pace, spun twice and pretty much a second behind Schumacher in P19. Surprised to see Vettel out in Q1, won't do anything to silence his critics although I think it's more down to the yellow flag than his speed.

Russell through to Q2 is great, Sainz lucky to get away with a poor opening session too. Just 0.100 from going out.

Nikita Mazespin went around twice in Q1 and qualified last. :dam: Ruined his team-mate's lap the first occasion then brought out the yellows for a few guys' last run.

Ocon and Vettel out in Q1. Possibly shafted by the yellow flags and the stewards will look at those who improved their lap-times at the end there. There was also a yellow flag showing in sector 2 which would have been separate from Mazepin at turn 1, so perhaps an incident we haven't seen. Still, Aston Martin and Alpine have had the most disappointing pace in the midfield this weekend so it's not all bad luck.

Russell gets through to Q2 once again. Alpha Tauri showing some incredible pace with both cars in amongst the Mercedes and Red Bulls. Perez and Bottas still streets behind their team-mates too.
