LFCMike
If, as this article suggests, that Liverpool don't see replacing Wijnaldum a necessity, then they'll just be repeating the mistakes of last summer. All of our midfielders (Curtis Jones aside, who is not ready to be playing every single game) have a spell on the sidelines each season. Wijnaldum was the only one who didn't. They have to sign someone there. Pearce could well be wrong, as he was last summer with Thiago. I hope he is.

Administrator Stan Posted May 28, 2021 Administrator Share Posted May 28, 2021 Early business done for a player in a position that needs strengthening is never a bad thing. Gives the club to chance to focus on other areas. He and Van Dijk, if he returns as normal, will be a formidable partnership.
Danny
Don't know how good he is but like Stan said a deal done this early is only a good thing for the player and the team

How can they look at the number of games played Wijnaldum and not think we need a replacement. Takes one injury in the middle and we are knackered. Don’t get me wrong, I like Curtis Jones… but looking at how many injury prone CMs we have (Thiago, Henderson, Ox, Keita) and how old Milner is… it is worrying. Especially when we’ve seen how Fabinho and Henderson being absent from the midfield makes everything fall apart.

The reliable journos had written off signing Thiago last summer and same with Alisson a couple of years ago.
