MUFC
10 minutes ago, nudge said: This is interesting: fuel pumps this season are a standard part provided by an Italian manufacturer to all the teams, and apparently there have been numerous issues with it during testing and free practice. McLaren had to replace theirs in Parc Ferme conditions after qualifying, and as a result, FIA gave extra permission for teams to inspect it after qualifying. So seems like an extremely bad luck for RB today, but it also means potential issues for other teams in future races, unless the supplier solves the issue. Ferrari are Italian, please don't encourage Marko and Horner.

Now that you mentioned it, Magneti Marelli, the supplier of said fuel pumps, is indeed Ferrari's technical partner...
Moderator Tommy Posted March 20, 2022 Moderator Share Posted March 20, 2022 Look how emotional he was after finishing in the points on his debut! You love to see it. He had a very good and most importantly clean race. Not something you'd necessarily expect from a rookie.
Moderator Tommy Posted March 21, 2022 Moderator Share Posted March 21, 2022 Lewis showing them young kids how it's done. Leclerc seems really surprised.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted March 21, 2022 Subscriber Share Posted March 21, 2022 Leclerc has spoken about how he deliberately braked early into Turn 1 to make sure he got DRS for the run up to Turn 4. Like Hamilton vs Rosberg a few years ago, where Rosberg kept taking the bait into Turn 1 and Lewis just got him back every time into Turn 4. Bottom line is Leclerc outdid the world champion on racecraft. It didn't matter in the end due to Max's retirement but in terms of the psychological battle it's score one for Charles. Verstappen didn't seem fully at it this weekend though and I expect him to improve.

Or will he just rely on a bit of hard roughness when side by side going into corners?

Subscriber nudge+ Posted March 21, 2022 Subscriber Share Posted March 21, 2022 A bit harsh on Max, tbh. Leclerc had a very smart, mature, and calculated drive, but I'd say both drivers were trying to use the strengths of their respective cars, and Leclerc came out on top yesterday. RB had a superior straight line speed whereas Ferrari was by far better on traction and accelerating in corner exits. Max said after the race that he wouldn't have been able to stay close enough to Charles in T2/T3 in order to overtake him at T4 because of that, so attempting an overtake in T1 was always going to be his only chance.
