We're about to sign Ömer Toprak from BVB for a reported fee of 5m. He's said to be willing to take a big wage cut (half) to make it happen.

I don't think we need a center forward or a right back. Gebre Selassie will perform this season, and bauer just came back. We have Fullkrug, A promising young lad, an old man and if needs must Harnik to lead the line

Just need to seal the Toprak deal

Bauer has no role to play though, he's not even training with the team! He'll be gone as soon as he can find a club. So that leaves only Theo + Augustinsson + Beijmo for LB/RB with Friedl as a backup. Not great, not terrible. That's why we tried to get Henrichs desperately and are now apparently looking at Bernardo (ex Leipzig). I think we will sign another fullback before the transfer window shuts regardless of Toprak deal.

Another setback for Bartels - will undergo a knee surgery again and won't be able to train for about a month :( Looks more and more like the end of a career.

Toprak deal is done! Expected to be announced officially tomorrow. Transfer fee is reportedly 6 million Euro (paid in installments) and he should sign a two-year deal with an option to extend for one more year.

As expected, it's now official! Ömer Toprak signed a contract today :)

Baumann also said in the press conference to expect one or two more players to join the team before the transfer window closes. A fullback who can play on both sides + a midfielder are a priority.

Janik Haberer is rumoured to be the midfielder we're trying to sign.

Toprak was taken to hospital in an ambulance after the match yesterday as he had trouble breathing after colliding with one of Fortuna players early in the game. Fortunately no injuries have been found but he will be monitored in training next week.

Rashica is undergoing tests on his upper leg as he had to be substituted due to having issues with it yesterday. Waiting for a diagnosis but it's likely he'll be out for some time :(

So Rashica is out for several weeks with a thigh injury. Bloody brilliant ¬¬ So it's now Rashica, Veljkovic, Langkamp, Augustinsson, Bargfrede, Bartels injured + Toprak, Füllkrug and Pizarro training individually.

Robert Bauer finally found a new club; signed a contract with Arsenal Tula today. No financial details have been given out; hopefully we got at least some money for him.

Everyone seems to be very happy in the picture. Bauer probably thought it's a different Premier League and a different Arsenal he's signing for and it hit him hard once he realised the mistake :4_joy:

So the Bentaleb deal is apparently almost done; a loan with an option to buy. Can't wait for him to score the winning goal against Schalke later this season

Jokes aside, Bauer will be well acquainted with Arsenal Tula. His parents are ethnic German, Russian speakers from Kazakhstan. Bauer himself can speak Russian and he often visits family members in the Russian speaking towns in Kazakhstan. Arsenal Tula finished 6th in the Russian League last season, so they are one of the better teams in the country right now and it is a decent move for Bauer in many ways. There is even a team called Arsenal Kyiv from Ukraine, who Fabrizio Ravanelli managed last season, sadly they got relegated from the top division, lol.

Yeah, Bentaleb is very close to signing for Werder Bremen. Bentaleb was so highly rated when he was a teen. But he hasn't become the world class player everyone thought he would become yet. He's still a very good player, but he has been quite inconsistent at times. Maybe Werder Bremen will get the best out of him, lets hope that's the case, as he is still relatively young.

We're kind of good at given second chances to talented players so I'm cautiously optimistic. Not much of a risk either since it's initially a loan deal and Schalke will most likely pay part of his wages haha.

Yeah, these loan deals with an option to buy seem to be all the rage these days. I guess it's very good in the sense that the club who are loaning the player, are not fully committed with the player over the long term at first. They can assess his performances and then decide at the end of the season if he is a good fit or not. I also feel that he will do well at Werder Bremen, there will probably be less pressure on him there as well.

Hopefully he comes good, he was once a regular at Tottenham, so he's definitely got some quality about him.

So now Toprak is injured as well and most likely will only be available after the international break. We're kind of running out of defenders here...
