Diaby finds Schick in front of goal with a lovely cross, but Schick's close range shot is straight at Kobel, who saves the ball. Schick should have done better there, that was a huge chance to equalise for Leverkusen.

Werder fans have been rounded up by the police at the train station in Wolfsburg, subjected to thorough searches and identity checks. Not allowed to move freely, even to use the toilets. Not allowed to enter the stadium without everyone's identity confirmed. As a result, Werder ultra groups decided to boycott the match and travel back to Bremen. A reminder: this is not a "Risikospiel" by any means...

Welcome to North Korea. xD What the fuck.

Completely mental.

According to some fans who were there yesterday, they were searched with hands and face to the wall, like criminals, even families with kids. Wolfsburg police lost the plot completely.

Observations from the weekend matches that I was able to squeeze in:

  • That freekick from Grifo was amazing.  Augsburg are in deep shit...again, and yet every year they manage to slip away from the relegation battle.  Wouldn't mind them going down with...
  • Hertha!  The Berlin derby is so one-sided now that it's essentially Bayern versus 1860.  They literally had nothing in attack for the majority of the match.  Union are so well run both on and off the pitch.  Haberer looks a great signing and Siebatcheu (?) had a fantastic headed goal from a tight angle.
  • All those signings Dortmund made and they only had 2 debutants in the starting 11 and lost Adeyemi early in the first half.  Really unlucky with injuries every year it seems.  Kobel earned those 3 points keeping Schick out on at least 3 occasions where he was clean through on goal.  I wouldn't say the defense looked better, I think they got lucky.
  • Karim Onisiwo fussballgott.  Should have had a hat-trick... put away the two tough chances and missed a sitter iirc.  Big win for Mainz considering how tough Bochum are at home.  They are going to miss Pantovic and Poulter this season.
