YES MATILDAS!

Australia are through after a dramatic penalty shootout vs. France!

This might not be visible outside Australia but the level of excitement here about this team has now eclipsed the Socceroos qualifying and progressing through the group at the Germany world cup in 2006.

Oh you can definitely feel the excitement. And the big hype around Sam Kerr. While they were showing replays, I could hear a roar from the crowd and I could  just tell it's because Sam Kerr will take the next penalty.

Catalina Perez injured. 💔 Come on, Colombia. :(

England are through and will now face the Matildas in the Semis.

Colombia can be proud of themselves though. The played a very good tournament. Especially young Linda Caicedo! She's such a huge talent at only 18 years old. A not so fun but impressive fact: She had ovarian cancer at only 15 years old. Went through surgery and then chemo for 6 months and was even bedridden because of that for 3 months. She returned to playing football just a few days after her last chemo treatment. And this year she played three World Cups. U17, U20 and now the senior tournament.

lol in the first video, I knew that poor flight attendant would get a fright.

But yea, great to see the whole country being so enthusiastic about the Matildas. I'm rooting for you for the rest of the tournament!

I was always rooting for the underdogs.* So it has nothing to do with England.

*Well except against Germany, but that was over quick.

You just always seem to back any side that plays England...

Because they were always the heavy favourites in every game so far? 🤔

I think every neutral football fan was rooting for Colombia today, as they were probably also rooting for them when they played us.

England continue to be very fortunate. Any side remaining could win from what I've seen. The England - Australia match will be quite an atmosphere. I suspect the Aussie crowd will turn it up another notch.

They started so strong that I considered them to be the main contender for the title. But the matches against Nigeria and Colombia haven't been thoroughly convincing, to put it mildly.

Not exactly a spectacular game so far.

Yeah very cagey, but Spain have had the better of the 2nd half I'd say.

Sweden equalise! Easy volley into the far corner. Spain seemed to go to sleep!
