Administrator Stan Posted September 20, 2017 Administrator Posted September 20, 2017 what were the ticket prices? is attendance usually this low? I'm not sure fining teams is the way to go. Another way for their FA to make money?
Happy Blue Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Lets fine poor people for being poor too, this virtual world we live in has gone crackers!
SirBalon Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Getafe are eternally being warned by the LFP and have been for a number of years (obviously except for the last season where they played in Spain's second division). What happens is that the clubs pump up the prices to stupid amounts and they even charge the season ticket holders a premium for top games on top. So what ends up happening is that fans boycott the club!

They lose out on ticket purchase income and end up with more expenditure as the fine comes in?
SirBalon Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Just now, Stan said: why would clubs hike up the prices knowing they'd be fined? They lose out on ticket purchase income and end up with more expenditure as the fine comes in? Because they make more from the premiums mate. Getafe's very vocal president Ángel Torres has been quizzed on this in interviews for years. He wants to force a land issue he has with the Madrid regional government so as he can build his new stadium with a multi complex. They've been denying him this for a number of years and this is his way of making himself even more heard by making the headlines with low attendances although still making the same amount of money apparently. Note one thing... Real Madrid got the ok from the regional government for rebuilding the Santiago Bernabéu and their new state of the art training complex in central Madrid (Getafe are a town on the outskirts of the city but inside the Madrid region). This is another reason as to why it all creates such issues. Celta Vigo are also at war with the local government of Vigo and the mayor for the same reasons... So this is what we get.
