Guest Cannabis Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 The season begins tonight (3rd March 2017) with Portland Timbers taking on new franchise team Minnesota United. All discussion relating to the true game of football played across the pond should take place here. With 22 teams in the league (including two brand new ones) who will you be backing? Eastern Conference: Atlanta United Chicago Fire Columbus Crew DC United Montreal Impact New England Revolution New York City FC New York Red Bulls Orlando City Philadelphia Union Toronto FC Western Conference: Colorado Rapids FC Dallas Houston Dynamo LA Galaxy Minnesota United Portland Timbers Real Salt Lake San Jose Earthquakes Seattle Sounders Sporting Kansas City Vancouver Whitecaps
DeadLinesman Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 I do love an underachieving team from Minnesota........
Eco Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Excited for this for the first time in my life. Wife and I got season tickets to Atlanta United, with the first game being Sunday afternoon against New York RB.
Eco Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Tough loss at 2-1 against the Red Bulls last night. Absolutely dominated for the first 70 minutes, but didn't put away enough chances and gave up 2 awful chances, that the NY RB took advantage of. Attendance for the game was over 55,000 people! Great to have the MLS in Atlanta - Here are some pics -

Eco Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Just now, Cannabis said: Fantastic post that Ubuntu, thanks for posting the scores and table too (it'll make the MLS a lot easier to follow for us English). A 2-1 loss isnt too shabby considering what happened with Minnesota, you'll be winning in no time! Surprised to see defending champions Seattle lose at Houston, I didn't see that coming! Cheers - Yeah my wife and I have season tickets so I'm going to have to pay more attention to the MLS. Atlanta's owner is Arthur Blank (co-found of Home Depot, owner of the Atlanta Falcons), so he spent a pretty penny with this squad and people are suggesting that this may be a playoff team (yes, once the season is over, we do playoffs). We are young and should have gotten something more out of last night. Two missed chances on clear break aways is what did us in, and we let NYRB stay in the game. Next Up for us is Minnesota so this weekend should be a good one!
Eco Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 A lot of reports coming from Atlanta about last night's scene. Here is a great photo to depict just how big it was -

Eco Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Haven't heard any updates about Tim. I'm waiting for Brad Guzan to come to us as our Keeper was one of the weak spots in the loss against RB.
Eco Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Just now, Cannabis said: . I can't say I expected that. It's in Minnesota so I'm not that surprised.
Eco Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 GOOOALLLLLLLLLL MARTINEZ PUTS ATL UP 1-0 IN THE 2ND MINUTE
Eco Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 1 minute ago, Cannabis said: Minnesota are having a nightmare start to MLS, a 5-1 whipping in their first game and they're now 1-0 down inside 2 minutes of the Atlanta game. To be fair, found out they had an MLS team in August of last year, we found out 2 years ago. We paid a lot of money for players, Minnesota was late to game. I predict them to have just a nightmare year.
Eco Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Wow - They are have to take a stoppage timeout so that they can clear the lines since the snow is coming down so quickly. This could be a long game.
Eco Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 3-0! Martinez with his second. Minnesota United is absolutely dreadful today, what a shitty for them to show their fans their team.
Eco Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Minnesota scores from the spot after a stupid penalty on us. 3-1 ATL
Machado Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 What the f*** is that... the amount of snow is insane.
Eco Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 GOOOALLLLLL Almiron makes it 4-1 ATL Unreal how fast we are on the break.
Eco Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Martinez gets his hat trick and we are now up 5-1 ATL, ATL, ATL, ATL, Minnesota Sucks. Sorry @DeadLinesman
Eco Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 6-1 ATL! Minnesota's defense is absolutely awful. We were literally passing it without pressure inside their 18. Taylor Twellmen is absolutely lighting them up on ESPN right now. I didn't get Gerber giving Minnesota the opportunity, but this is embarrassing. And it's over. 6-1 Atlanta United!
Eco Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Portland vs Galaxy is about to come on. Clearly two of the better teams in the MLS, so if you want to watch good soccer, be sure to check it out!
