Eco
Olympique Lyonnais (French pronunciation: [ɔlɛ̃pik ljɔnɛ]), commonly referred to as simply Lyon (French pronunciation: [ljɔ̃]) or OL, (Euronext: OLG) is a French football club based in Lyon. It plays in France's highest football division, Ligue 1. The club was formed as Lyon Olympique Universitaire in 1899, according to many supporters and sport historians, but was nationally established as a club in 1950.[1] The club's most successful period has been the 21st century. The club won its first Ligue 1 championship in 2002, starting a national record-setting streak of seven successive titles. Lyon has also won a record seven Trophée des Champions, five Coupe de France titles and three Ligue 2 titles. Lyon has participated in the UEFA Champions League 12 times, and during the 2009–10 season, reached the semi-finals of the competition for the first time after three previous quarter-final appearances. Olympique Lyonnais plays its home matches at the 59,186-seat Parc Olympique Lyonnais, commercially known as Groupama Stadium, in Décines-Charpieu, a suburb of Lyon. The club's home colours are white, red and blue. Lyon was a member of the G14 group of leading European football clubs and are founder members of its successor, the European Club Association. Olympique Lyonnais was one of the most popular clubs in France. A 2009 survey found that about 11% of the country's football fans support the club, a proportion Lyon shared with Paris Saint-Germain, behind only Olympique de Marseille.[2] The club's nickname, Les Gones, means "The Kids" in Lyon's regional dialect of Arpitan. The chairman of Lyon is Jean-Michel Aulas and the club is managed by Bruno Génésio. Olympique Lyonnais also has a successful women's football team that has won its league a record 15 times. The women's team has also won nine Coupe de France titles and the UEFA Women's Champions League in 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2017. Cicero
Talented side that I hope goes far in Europe. Much like Monaco 2016/17, they are going to be stripped of their talent this summer and next IMO. Fekir Aouar Ndombele Mendy Terrier Diop
Eco
Sadly @Cicero - I fear you are correct. I hope Fekir stays, but I keep hearing these Liverpool rumors so I'm not so sure. Ndombele will likely be gone which is a shame, but I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them this year, and hope that they can eliminate Barca in the CL and finish 2nd in the league. That midfield is class. Aouar especially. I'd desperately want Ferland Mendy out of the bunch. Proper full back.

Eco
Massive news if Lyon can pull it off. Quote Lyon prepare to pounce with new Fekir contract The attacking midfielder could be set to stay put if he cannot find an interested club Lyon will look to reopen contract negotiations with Nabil Fekir if he fails to find a new home, according to club president Jean-Michel Aulas. France international Fekir remains in limbo after entering the final year of his deal with the Ligue 1 club. Liverpool appear to have cooled their interest after going close to completing a transfer 12 months ago, while links to Arsenal have come to nothing due to their inability to move Mesut Ozil on. Eco
2-1 at HT. Not sharp, but not too surprising with it being pre-season AND playing the CL Champions.

Aulas' side are among the most vocal opponents of the move to shut down France's top flight, which meant Paris Saint-Germain were crowned champions with 10 rounds of fixtures still outstanding. Marseille and Rennes finished behind the champions in second and third to take Champions League spots while Lyon, who lay in seventh, face a year without any type of European football.
