SchalkeUK
Tedesco will look at a 2-1 defeat at Bayern and probably will report satisfaction in his 04 report page. With proper team selection this was winnable as there were better players sat on the side than were on the pitch. To play Leon in this game was pure idiocy. He is a genuine kid, but his heart is in the south and he drifted in and out - as he did on Wednesday against Wolfsburg. A totally lucky kick out at a loose ball gave Di Santo his first thing of any note for months and then he was subbed - as usual - it he can't be relied on for 90 minutes why the heck play him? Fahrman is losing his concentration and was again to blame where better keepers would have succeeded. Under Naldo, young Kehrer is improving match by match - Harit tries like hell but had little help up front with Burgstellar not even seeming to know when he is or is not onside. Schopf needs game time somewhere else - this is not a practice match and his accuracy has gone. Embolo is promising if he is given some real game time with consistency - not a bit here and a few minutes there! Meyer's booking was a farce - as was most of the decisions from this idiot in the middle- for both sides - surprised Muller got away with being so honest about his criticism.....even the old Dutchman had had enough of him by the end of the game. Caligiuri will get better when he learns to pass accurately, but giving it to the opposition is not really what he is there for - especially when our best dead-ball accurate taker is constantly ignored for corners and fouls! Perhaps someone should tell Tedesco about that! Now we ait for 1800 today and ARD to show us where we go next. Thea is convinced we will be in Munich At least there is about 7 weeks or so to try and sort things out while we slowly slip down the table at present rate. If there is any doubt about so-called good coaches not knowing what they have of value then don't just look at Tedecso, consider the idiot at Chelsea and BVB's new striker - now that's a lesson for everyone! SchalkeUK
This morning's BBC News reports that now there are 4 clubs looking at Max when his contract runs out this Summer - Arsenal and Liverpool as we know have been watching and Inter have joined with Bayern to make up the 4. The Bayern idea is daft as he will be in competition with Leon and Inter is not a good idea if he is wanting European honours. Both Arsenal and Liverpool have problems at the back and his latest games in a new role would fit in well at both clubs - trouble is who will be boss at Arsenal and he already knows Kloppy, Joel and others in the 'pool so either could be better- there is still room with Pep but he has been quiet so far - it would be great to join up with Leroy and Ilkay again and alongside Kevin DB it could be a dream partnership! I dont think you could afford to leave him out of selection tbh. He made that entire drive even if it was a fortunate pass to Embolo I think it was in the end. The match was definitely there for you guys I cant argue there, a couple of gaffs from Fahrmann aside you had the better chances. Both Meyer and Jame's bookings where poor decisions but at least he was consistent in the poor calls. On another note you mention; I am a little surprised with the links to Max, if theres anything we dont need its more players in the middle of the pitch. As it is we have Leon joining along with an end to the Sanches loan, Theres been alot of speculation about Vidal's future so I dont see any reason to add another body. Max will go somewhere he can be assured of game time without having to fight against team mates for a place every week - he could stay with us, but the present coach is impossible to read and makes too many selection errors so it's almost certain he will look for a better leader. SchalkeUK
One of my young friends in Spain has sent me a message which might be of interest to other 04 followers. You may be aware that Snr Modric has a serious problem. It is likely to drag on for a while yet, but meantime Athletico have been discussing what if? At that point the name of young Max came up - free in June - capable of doing a job akin to the Modric role across the city - would Real be interested and if so should we make the first move? If M. Wenger is to leave Arsenal would any prospective signing be put on hold for now and we know he is keen on the possibility of Max joining him. No progress is being made at the Veltins on a new contract and - in any case - Max has not indicated that he wants one the way things are going there! The next episode of this 'soap opera' is still to be scheduled! All in all it's just another brick in the wall - leave the kid alone!!! SchalkeUK
The kids are doing great again - beating Hoffenheim 4-1 at the moment in the U-19 cup. Sad to note that the 'heirachy' are not yet seen - after a fine display 5 miles from here, Sead left for Germany and home and is very visible supporting the team he played in as a youngster. Will be interesting to see how many of these young excellent players are given a chance next season - even more of a question will be which club will give them the chance! SchalkeUK
So - we have lost Leon to Bayern and Max to wherever and have a midfield which will rely upon the 'skills' and 'ability' of Bentaleb next season. So to bolster the quality we sign a second string Mainz player - Suat Serdar -18 appearances this season out of 34 so he's well positioned to join 04's also rans. It get more and more pathetic as the days go by. How do we defend against the jibes and laughter from the South or across the way at BVB? Our defeat against Frankfurt in December will be shown for what it was tomorrow night when Bayern score freely in Berlin. Watching the subs spend the second half running behind the goal while Tedesco picked his nose through the half and no one on the field had any idea where the goal was summed up most of this season - poor play by others left us in second place in the league and no one on this site would accept that it was deserved. I will watch the U-19sagainst Berlin in the final and try hard not to feel sad for the young guys who have obvious talent in that team and who will - after the final be ignored by all except the supporters - but the we don't count anyway!

SchalkeUK
No doubt no one in Gelsenkirchen was watching tonight's game against Brazil when our two key 'strike force' were hopelessly exposed against a decent defence. The Complacency after the AGM was pathetic and the 'team building' under the 'superb' leadership of the coach will cause problems in the South when the Pokal comes around again. It's a long time since we went out in the first round, but unless someone has an attack of reality it could be time for that to happen.Despair seems to be the key word. Sad about Leroy's omission and bewildered about Gomez being included - perhaps he thought is he might be overlooked now that our man Sterling has become better at cheating and lying than he ever was! It's gonna be slightly interesting in Russian- particularly when our lot walks off the pitch after the abuse from the crowd!
SchalkeUK
Aue 1 v Schalke 0 - oh dear! A totally pathetic, unorganised group of old men for the first half - quicker but pointless in the second part and zilch from midfield all game - and as for the 'attack' against a lower ranked team it would have been difficult for a neutral to determine which was the lower ranked side. All very sad really but predictable after the end of last season and Tedesco's inability is showing already. Still a slight chance as long as Naldo stays fit! Chadwell
S04 apparently interested in taking HSV’s Brazilian left back, Douglas Santos, but HSV have slapped down the engorged price tag typical of Brazilian players. Any idea of any viability to this? Is Bild reporting this, so... lol? Or smoke -> flame?
SchalkeUK
He seems to be just the player we want to frighten Burgstellar into action. Last season he played 27 games and scored 1 goal and was credited with 1 assist - great choice from Tedesco - as usual! Oh Sorry, he is listed as a defender - didn't he contribute to relegation last season? Another good choice! SchalkeUK
Max's Medical went well and now all they wait for is international clearance before Palace announce his deal to join them and former England Manager Roy Hodgson who has a habit of adding qualities to good players. One thing he will do is play Max in his best position but it may take a few games to be convinced after the Tedesco reluctance to deal honestly with him. Money has been agreed so we await the final Club announcement.
SchalkeUK
Now that my fav young guy has left Germany I have changed my pic to his new home. I still have the BL at heart, but will watch what he and Roy gets up to with eager anticipation of success. Best wishes to Palace this season
Chadwell
So what’s the word on how S04 is likely to spend their fresh chunk of cash? I understand they’ve been looking for both a CM and LB. Which will they prioritize? Does Santos at HSV come back into play now that they have some money?
SchalkeUK
The biggest problem will be getting the boss on the field and the guys in the office to agree which is most important of the three - a front man, a defender or the bank manager. Having just been given a contract extension the field man has had his influence reduced to zero, co my bet is that it will go into the accounts! After the result against the Italians in which the 'new' man from Berlin scored and the defence held the also-ran second string team to a nul score, they will decide they have enough for now - then the window will close and unless they can borrow someone, we will have to wait until Christmas but by then we will be out of the CL and struggling in the lower half of the table. That will end up with a new boss on the field and a rethink of the team for the January window. Sorry that is not future planning it is exactly the recent history of 04 (more than once) and history does often (according to the Propellorheads) repeat itself. Having a weekend away before we get ready to visit you in NC at the end of September! Carole King had the right idea about the weather in Gelsenkirchen! SchalkeUK
Hey- the cheapskates have asked if the can 'loan' him rather than pay inflated cash. Not sure even HSV will fall for that!
SchalkeUK
In his post match interview Ralf Fahrman said that he thought 04 deserved a point. Sorry - not the case. The team were a bunch of strangers unable to find each other most of the game. Young McKennie was lucky not to be yellow carded twice in the first half - those tackles would have normally both been yellow and when he finally got on it was deserved. His niggling caused reactions which eventually cost Nastasic his place as by then the referee had had enough of the style of play from both sides - his second red was a similar reaction and only overturned by VAR. Burgstaller was - as normal - totally useless and his action late on should have been red not yellow and the atrocious non-existant defending other than - as usual - Naldo's performance, was everything Tedesco deserved for decimating the team with his decisions. The league position last year was as a result of a good start to the season when we had a team. Now we have no system, no defence ( Sane was more than a disappointment) and buying Huth was a waste of time with nothing to help him from midfield. Embolo is short of match practice, but he caused more problems for Wolfsburg in his few minutes on the field that the whole of the forward line had up to that point. Problem is having lost our best players from last season no one else wants to come and join us with this sort of leadership. It's going to be a long. hard winter and with Berlin to come next Sunday it will get worse! I am not looking forward to the CL draw this week at all! Perhaps the best thing at the moment is that no one else wants to post on here and tell us what we know and they think! Chadwell
I just feel for ya man, sounds rough. Was indeed a pretty solid team last year, really was. On the bright side, you still have my boy Konoplyanka
