Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega just gave us a teaser of what they can do together and now I want to see a 24/7 iron match between them.

It's too early to judge but so far I haven't seen anything to suggest he will be anything more than a mid carder doing dumb stuff with his mates in Kenny's shadow for the next couple of months.
  4. Man City's average attendance didn’t drop below 26,500 between 1997-2000 when they were in the second and third tier which is extremely good. Have to feel for those fans at times like this.

Twitter's outraged again. This time over "The Plane Ride From Hell", you know, that thing that happened almost 20 years ago which got settled out of court. All of this woke and cancel culture in the Wrestling Twitter community feels so fake at times.

God knows what ideas Vince Russo would have pitched to him in the alleged "golden years" of TNA.

Given CM Punk hasnt wrestled since January 2014 before arriving in AEW, I don't think it's in anybody interest to throw him straight in to the main event.

Huge relief. They seem to be getting along just fine.

By the time he's 18 Brian will hopefully be running the firm so he can show him the way.

Late Saturday night my partners waters broke. She blames me creating a party atmosphere after Odsonne Edouard's debut. Anyway the waters broke but my partner never went in to labour. They gave her Oxytocin Monday afternoon which led to abnormally painful contractions. She was in the very small number of people that Epidurals have zero effect on. After 13 hours of being witness to what I can only describe as a live exorcism she had just dilated 3 centimetres as the baby wouldn't put his head in the engaged position and he was now very distressed. The doctors called for an emergency C-Section and thankfully that's where our luck changed. The spinal worked on my partner and Noah entered the world at 0718 weighing 6.7lbs. Him and mother have been doing very well and they're hopeful they'll be released tomorrow.

Spot on. Tony Khan has Meltzer, Alvarez, LaGreca and all those losers in his pocket but they're too excited to recognise it.

With respect to those guys, WWE are looking to produce stars that are far bigger than anybody NXT have produced since 2016.

To add more context to this, both Eric Bischoff and Bruce Pritchard who were on the opposite side of the Monday Night Wars have both come forward and said even in the 90s when live TV was the only way to really consume the weekly wrestling product that the TV ratings were taken with a pinch of salt because of how Neilsen calculated them. Outsiders/frauds like Bryan Alvarez still puts heavy scope on this sort of stuff but I imagine that's largely because it's information that can be accessed easily. I think it's a cool indicator of the growth of AEW but they shouldn't be getting the bubbly out over it.

Its fine. They have four shows to get through a week and a large proportion of contracts will expire at the end of this year (Sonny Kiss, Joey Janela etc). The forbidden door policy allows disgruntled people the opportunity to work in companies such as Impact too.
  16. A good short watch summarising the current state of play with the allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo in an impartial manner. Worth watching to familiarise yourself with the case as I'm sure the allegations will be sensationalised again in the near future.
  17. Every day The Sun are releasing news articles about a "Next Crystal Palace Manager" after a "Poor Start". When the likes of Frank Lampard, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, Mikel Arteta, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Scott Parker and many others first took managerial jobs in the UK, the shitrag papers were initially supportive. They haven't been the same for Patrick Vieira. I wonder why that is...

They're going in a "different direction". No more appealing to the hardcore internet fans / smart marks. It's going to feel more like a developmental show as opposed to a modern wrestling show. I'm not going to watch it as it doesn't appeal to me but I can see why they're doing it. The class of performers they have at the Performance Centre are allegedly people they have huge hopes for. They include Parker Boudreaux, Rick Steiner's son, Odyssey Jones, The Rock's Daughter and now American Gold Medalist Gable Stevenson. They need to create the best pathway for them to get to stardom and putting them in front of smart NXT fans who want to cheer for a 5ft 8 technically sound indie worker whilst they're still learning is not going to be it. If one of the names they're bringing through makes it as a huge star then the whole revamp will be worth it as that one name would bring in more money to the company (sponsors, stock holders, Saudi blood money, merch etc) than all the temporarily disgruntled NXT fans who probably watch for free on Daily Motion anyway would.

Initially my thinking was the same as you regarding the debuts but the more I think about it the more it was the right call. Adam Cole's debut may have been more out of necessity than anything else. The longer they left if then the likelihood of WWE stooge informing the dirtsheets that he's signed elsewhere increases ten fold. So they'd lose that shock value moment. Then there's the Bryan Danielson moment where they have to weigh up the pros between having him advertised for his first appearance at his home town, or having him surprise debut at the ppv before and then advertising his first match in his home town. Given CM Punk did the former and Bryan can still go as a wrestler I think the latter is the correct decision. As for Ruby Riott her win has potential good knock on effects for the company. It sends a message to the women in the WWE that are potentially demoralised for a number of legitimate reasons (nepotism, Nia Jax being dangerous, best days gone in NXT etc) that if they were to go to AEW they will get opportunities and be taken seriously. Also, whilst Heidi Lovelace was popular in the indies, Ruby Riott was low midcard / jobber in the WWE so she's almost the perfect person to use in this scenario to have a feud with Britt Baker who they're not going to want to take the title off for some time. In a couple of months they can revaluate the women's divison and see whether there is a bigger draw from WWE available that could potentially take the women's title off Britt Baker at Revolution / DON next year. I completely agree with your comments about MJF and Chris Jericho. I've never seen somebody beat someone four times and the show make it seem worthless. A year long rivalry with a bloated old timer and MJF has come off worse than he went in. Not a good look. A feud with CM Punk around now could have been gold for both of them too.

Yeah. In terms of a card there wasn't much manoeuvre for surprises. I enjoyed it but some people are suggesting it's the best show since Daniel Bryan's title win at Wrestle Mania which feels to be an overreaction. Every positive last night could be construed as a negative depending on your outlook. But they've got momentum on there side which is the main thing. Really hope we're looking at the beginning of a boom as opposed to a peak period that we don't even recognise.

I'll probably pay it to be honest. They only have 4 PPVs a year so it's good value.
  23. Zion Atta has confirmed on his Instagram account he is leaving Crystal Palace. He was our best player at Under 16 level in the first half of the season. Then Mino Raiola was hired as his agent and his form fell off a cliff. Only time will tell if he has the correct mental attributes to make it as a footballer.

Rampage is fine. An hour of Wrestling with three matches a week is an easy watch. Reading 'Nitro' by Guy Evans the reason why Thunder was a big money loser was that Ted Turner informed WCW he wanted a Thursday show on his smaller network and the money was going to come out of the WCW budget. Problem with WCW's budget was that it wasn't an independent budget so a lot of there profits from 1996 and 1997 went in to the Time Warner budget and was given to other company's under there umbrella. So WCW created a new show with no additional staff on a smaller network that was a loss maker from the start. AEW will not have the same issue as the funding for Rampage comes from Shahid Khan whose one of the very few people wealthy enough to purchase WWE. Any future issues will arise if Shahid Khan decides he no longer wants to financially support Tony Khan's venture. Which is essentially what happened with Dixie Carter and her parents in 2010 with TNA.

The McDonald's analogy is great for explaining WWE's commercial success. Do McDonald's do the best burgers? Not at all. Are they the first brand you think of and are most successful? Absolutely. AEW Dynamite could well beat Raw in the ratings by the end of the year which is an unthinkable and incredible achievement but I don't think Vince, Laurinitus, fat Khan or Bruce would care. They make so much money through various avenues they don't have to care about the weekly shows. It's all about the big moments to them.
