Smith has always been a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 man happy to move to a back 3 if needed, if he has been playing around with a 4-4-2 I doubt it'll be as old school as a 4-4-2 suggests.

Defo, just that with your players they've achieved all you can want to achieve in one country so would have been more open to a move to Spain if the clubs could afford them. Obviously you wouldn't have seen a mass exodus, but this has probably stopped you from losing one of Mane and Salah.

Liverpool are fortunate that La Liga is on it's arse, it's now so much easier to keep their stars knowing that Barce and Real can't afford them.

I think the owners and manager have to take a lot of the blame for his far the injury crisis went last season, but I guess that is the balance of winning the league and champions league with a thin squad of injury prone players. What I will say is I don't think things will be as bad for them this season as they were last season, in the end a massive injury crisis led to them finishing 3rd. City are clear favourites for the title and I think that's obvious, United and Chelsea have both put themselves into the realms of needing to win the league or Champions League to consider this season a success after the signings they've made. Liverpool's squad know what sort of performances they need to put in to go all the way with City and co, Thiago will feel like a new player because he's actually had a pre-season and not been thrown into an absolute shitshow whilst coming back from an injury. Are there players out there that Klopp could sign to strengthen the first 11/rotating subs? Surely. But does not signing them mean that Liverpool won't be able to compete for top honours? No.

I've not been involved in any leadership roles because I've never thought to apply really, never wanted that from my career so far, but I've been involved in roles where I've been a trainer/the most experienced in a team. When I think about leadership I think about the worst bosses I've had, the middle of the road and the best. The worst have without doubt had no people skills whatsoever, just been really good at their job and are really productive but can talk to you like shit in an instant. The middle of the road bosses have been easy to work with, not stressful but also don't really get things done/seem to linger with your development. I would say in my working life so far, and all the jobs I've done, I've probably had 2 absolute genuinely great bosses and a couple after that, that are up there but not the best I've had. The main points about their leadership though is this: they're extremely honest and don't lead you on, they're genuinely interested in your life and you as a person (had one boss that went out of his way to essentially say good morning/good afternoon/have a chat with close to 100 people every day, because he genuinely wanted people to feel like the workplace was a good place to be), they treat you like adults, tell you what you're doing wrong as it needs to be said in a calm and concise way and have an action plan for you to turn it around...essentially they're not like a teacher with students, because some bosses can be really patronising and will talk down to you without you realising it.

Smith is just a character who is open to learn new things, it's why he was Brentford manager. Managers who are stuck in their ways don't get our job, so not surprising to hear of Smith learning from Grealish and I'm sure he learnt from Terry too.

I guess with how viewed the Premier League is vs the Championship some of the lads have changed their minds. Could also be to do with how certain fanbases have booed taking the knee, for example a section West Ham fans booed their players taking the knee on Saturday. Ivan Toney specifically receives so much racist abuse on social media, can completely understand how the gesture can seem a bit hollow to someone who's still receiving so much abuse with fairly little change happening in the background.

Probably just gunna drive down to Bournemouth/Sandbanks/Studland when the expected heatwave comes in for the day, won't be going on holiday anytime soon. Waiting on next year for things to hopefully open up a bit more on the continent so it's not just holidaying somewhere that is in a form of lockdown

Controlling your breathing is so important, obviously this is a lot more controlled but I remember I went swimming in this river in New Zealand. Fed by a glacier, crystal clear, looked beautiful. Was genuinely freezing cold. Barely anyone could stay in it for too long. Then this woman who I think was a local just casually swam through it to the other side, just seeing how calm she was you picked up on how in control of her breathing she would have been. I spent about a minute just focusing on my breathing, calmly, got in, legs froze, heartbeat tries to raise, carried on breathing slowly and just focusing on my airways and eventually what felt like frostbite turned into a really nice swim. Cold water swimming is a skill that you need to master, clearly I wasn't swimming I was floating in water that I could stand up in, so wasn't in any sort of trouble and could just get out if I wanted....and clearly at some point if the water is too cold you will just freeze to death regardless of your breathing...but learning how to stay calm in cold water and learning how to swim in waters with a current/riptide is more important than constantly swimming in a pool

First game at the new stadium, honestly love it. So much more intimate in person than on Tele, love the roofs curving over the stands too to hold the atmosphere. Game as a whole was fairly drab, West Ham won but probably weren’t the better side. With that said not a lot in it. Shandon Baptiste made a massive impact, he was out all season last season to the point we forgot about him when talking about our midfield. Looked so good today, assured, dribbled with ease and hit the post from distance. Halil Dervisoglu looked good as well, very nifty on the ball in the first half. Let’s see how he does this season. Frank Onyeka also looked good first half, was everywhere. Played most of the game without Norgaard, Toney, Mbeumo, no Jensen. But we looked good, looking forward to the season starting.

Shows the difficult task Leicester and Rodgers have, easy to call them bottle jobs without taking into consideration the wage bill issue.
