  1. What I enjoyed about Dredd was it stayed true to the character unlike the Stallone one where it went off the rails with him for the sake of that big blockbuster feel.. Both films have plus and negative points with regards to the world they live in so the first one was not entirely all bad but was ruined because they did stuff that was totally out of character for Dredd, where as Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby were almost perfect as Dredd and a young Cassandra Anderson.. Sadly they didn't have the big blockbuster finances behind it so something had to give along the way regarding spend but it had grit about it. Karl Urban has always said he would like to return as Dredd if the opportunity and a decent storyline for him came along.. There are plenty of decent stories out there so hopefully someone might pick it up for a second outing in the future The Dark Judges would make a decent film if it had the funds...

  3. Yea, amended. don't ask me why I put Matt Damon..
  4. I watched a rather disturbing film last night.. 'The House That Jack Built' 2018 Starring Matt Dillion and written by Lars von Trier... Apparently, it was so shocking that over a hundred people are reported to have walked out during it's premiere at the Cannes Film Festival at the time... It's not for the feint hearted that's for sure... very graphic violence and a disturbing look into the mind of a serial killer and his vision.. 8/10
  5. Been watching 'Wednesday' on Netflix Not too bad in all honesty.. Luis Guzman is the only one that seems oddly out of place playing Gomez Addams
  6. It's mostly the point of the thread.... All the same horrible things or worse occurred in 'The Good Old Days' only we were shielded from the worst of it because we didn't have social media in our faces from the moment we opened our eyes.. Health & Safety was non existent, medicine was not as advanced, war and murder was still going on around the world but we were oblivious to most of it so we saw ye olden days as mostly a positive adventure in our youth... I mean this was the kind of headline news we were getting... On the plus side, we learnt through our own mistakes and most people had a lot more common sense growing up and a lot of the better things from the past are sadly missing like getting my 3 shillings pay at the end of the month for completing 42 chimneys... Used to look forward to that... money well earned
  7. What!! Do they tell you what the issue was in any detail??

  10. News on the grapevine about a couple of up and coming projects in film.. News that Kurt Russell will be returning for the role of Snake Pliskin in another Escape from New York movie Also another Alien film is apparently in the pipeline... Earlier this month, news broke that Noah Hawley’s upcoming FX series based on Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic, with Scott serving as an executive producer, would begin filming in 2023. Now, it appears that Scott still thinks there are still more “Alien” stories to tell, as he has signed on to produce a new film written and directed by Fede Álvarez. While plot details are being kept under wraps, the film will be based on an original pitch from Álvarez, who is best known for directing the 2016 horror flick “Don’t Breathe.” Many cinephiles view “Alien” as the quintessential science-fiction horror movie, but recent films in the franchise such as “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant” (both directed by Scott) have leaned decidedly towards the sci-fi side. With the horror-loving Álvarez’s involvement, it is probably a safe bet to assume that will balance out. According to sources in The Hollywood Reporter, “Álvarez is a rabid fan of the franchise and casually pitched a take to Scott many years ago. The idea remained implanted in Scott’s brain until late last year when he called Alvarez out of the blue and asked him if the younger filmmaker was still up for it.” The film will stream on Disney-owned Hulu, with no theatrical plans in the cards just yet, but (also Disney-owned) 20th Century Studios says that is a feature, not a bug. 20th Century President Steve Asbell said Álvarez’s pitch “was just a really good story with a bunch of characters you haven’t seen before.” He said that the decision to release the film on Hulu is an artistic one, intended to allow Álvarez to realize his vision without box office pressure. “It’s not a film that has to be all things to all people with those gargantuan budgets,” Asbell said of the film. “They get to be authentically what they are. And this is closer to its genre roots.”
