To be fair, British tele has been for a long time as well (I can't think of anything that I've enjoyed since Black Books, or The I.T. Crowd). The Americans are kings at it but they tend to spoil it all by running everything for too long.
  2. To me it is this but with sports.
  3. It makes me uncomfortable how some culés talk about the kids at la masia.
  4. It's okay to mediocre. I only play it once in a while with friends.
  5. Because words are contextual and relative to the speaker and the listener. For instance, if I call a black friend of mine 'my nigga' is he going to be offended? No, it is between friends and understood as much. The word is different when used in different social scenarios, with different people, different inflections, and different intent. On the other hand if I said 'You're a useless fucking nigger'; even to my friend it is obviously completely different. This wasn't a racist incident; it did contain a slur but the slur wasn't used with racist intent. As you know words have several meanings; the word 'yid' has two, a derogatory term for Jews and term the Tottenham supporters refer to themselves as. 'Alonso notched a brace against the Yids' (context: football discussion) is a different statement that 'gas the yids' (context: violent racial slur; holocaust implications). Mate, you're a gweilo. Don't know what that means? Well, it is actually a Cantonese slur for white people. Are you offended? If you are, that is only because I told you it is a slur; otherwise the word has no context for you and is rendered meaningless because you don't have anything basis to form offence from. If we are to use the Post-Modern style of deconstruction, you would realise that the only reason we are offended by words is because we are taught to be offended by them.
  6. An American Werewolf in London - 8/10 A sublime example of the horror-comedy genre. The humour is nuanced and the gorey special effects are in your face. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and would suggest it to fans of the Evil Dead and Dale and Tucker vs. Evil. Features a very catchy 70s soundtrack.
  7. It cracks me up that Wonder Woman started as pretty much softcore bondage porn. Icon if feminism and all that.
  8. But is it racist? It is directed at Tottenham supporters not Jews; it just so happens they share a slur.
  9. 'Lucky last' is a common idiom, right? Not something that I've made up?

I'm relieved to hear that @Anton. I'm not going crazy afterall

  10. Why does Jamie Redknapp pluralise everything? Ya Watfords, ya Chelseas, ya Ronaldos, ya Hazards.

      Has issues with vertigo mate!

  11. Hatricks are fucking useless nine times out of ten. Stat padding at its finest.
  12. I fail to see what that has to do with scoring against top sides.
  13. Any bets on the top three scorers for Chelsea this season? Morata, Hazard, and Alonso.
  14. But it never used to be national as they were the only one playing it.
  15. Donte won't walk. He loves problem solving too much. Only when he is content, he will leave.
  16. WWE isn't recognised as a sport and the company doesn't list itself as one [and hasn't for a very long time]. Only prior to the 80s and in the south was wrestling taken as a serious piece of entertainment. Because the winners were called the 'World's Champions [of baseball]' and over a hundred years ago they essentially were.
  17. I told the wife what I wanted to do tonight when she asked. She asked again later because I gave the wrong answer.

The most astounding fact about this is that you have a wife.

Sounds like you've go it light...  Should be celebrating if I were you mate.

  18. I was thinking that fire breathing was a biological function and since it was dead it coukd no longer breathe fire. I guess it is magical
  19. Yeah but It is also an ancient narrative device. What it essentially is: something or someone happens to conveniently aid/fumble the hero in a dire situation. Think about Wizard of Oz: the heroes are trapped by the witch, she catches on fire, there so happens to be a bucket of water... water is also the witch's weakness. What a stroke of luck! I was hoping it woukd just be an near impervious dragon that was immune to fire due to being a dragon and used it powerful strngth to wreck everything in close combat.
  20. You should work on you sentence structure. By only using the pronoun 'him' you've failed to state that 'him' isn't Alonso; making both statements easily construed to be about Alonso. So to answer you, Conte wasn't the manager of Spain so he couldn't have selected Alonso regardless
  21. Alien 10/10 Perfect - no suspense has or ever will come close. The practical effects are still gourgeous to this day.
  22. Seems decent from what I've heard. Better than Ox reslly
  23. Terrible arguement. The Avalanche just had a shit coach, Patrick Roy is an idiot. They won the division as recently as 2014 during the years where the central was heads above the toughest division. The team is solid, Duchene, Soderberg, Landeskog, MacKinnon, Varlamov, and a few others. They won the SC under Kroenke.
