My eldest daughter is leaving home to move to University on the 25th September so this will be our last weekend with our eldest daughter living with us for two years at least. I know she's going to have the time her life and hopefully fulfill her dream of a degree in Animation but I know I'm going to be in absolute bits when she goes. Crazy thing is she's been a cheeky git for years and she spends far too long in the bathroom which has drove me insane. Sad week ahead for me.

It was brilliant John. Good day out, nice meal, major drink and then an evening at a quality festival.

Me and and wife in Glasgow last night, went there for the Trnsmt festival to watch Liam Gallagher.
  4. Shot Caller Film about a family man who's life is turned upside down when he causes a road traffic accident that kills his friend. Film follows his first day's in jail where he realises he either joins one of the many gangs in American prisons or faces two years of absolute hell. 8/10
  5. I was a brilliant runner in school and I always represented the school at various cross country events. We also used to do a competition each term which was called the run walk test, basically it was the 1500 meters around the local streets near the school. It was called the run walk because you could walk if you were a lazy or race if you were that way inclined. Obviously all the lads would get incredibly competitive in the build up each term but it then became even more competitive as everyone wanted to beat me because I'd win it every time. I'd basically perfected the distance and I had a point I'd kick on every time and create a gap they just couldn't close. Every now and then I'd change the kicking point to confuse them but throughout the whole five years I never lost. Mr Wright then approached me to take up the distance in the local school games which I also went on to win as well. At this point I was asked to come down to Sale Harriers to take it up properly but I just wasn't interested and told them I just wanted to play football at weekends. I can remember Mr Wright pushing and pushing me to go but I just basically had no interest at all. I recently bumped into him in our local Supermarket and he told me at the time he was desperate for me to go down to train as he had never seen a kid take to a certain distance as well as I had done the 1500m and I'd been the talk of all the Schools PE teachers at the local school games.
  6. Cheers mate, I'm more about getting my health and wellbeing back if I'm honest. I've been a slob over the last four months so I just want to get myself back into my running. I'm never going to be a marathon runner but I would comfortably churn out 10k runs in the past. I don't like using scales because you can become obsessed with them, I have certain Polo tops that I know I have to be in shape to wear. I will know I'm happy with myself again when I can happily go out in one of them.
  7. Run 1 done 3.2km which is 2 miles. This is the starting point on which to build. Be a lie if I said I enjoyed this run, I doubt I will like a run for a few weeks yet but these early runs are vital in the progression.
  8. Once a week for me. One of my biggest issues is eating out, we eat out a lot and sometimes that's as bad as a takeaway anyway. I've also started buying myself sandwiches from the local sandwich shop for lunch, I've never really ate baguettes and stuff like that before as I know how bad they can be for you. Problem is once you start getting into a cycle of a certain eating pattern it's hard to break out of because your so bloody hungry come lunch time.
  9. Good for you, sounds like your in a good place mentally and physically at the moment. My situation is basically unusual for me, I've always been into the gym and generally staying fit and healthy. I'd say this is the first period of my life where I've let myself go a bit and lost that hunger to get out and exercise. If I'm totally honest it was my Mum of all people who opened my eyes to it the other day. She's always known I keep fit by either playing football or running etc.. she asked me if I was doing anything anymore which lead me to ask her why she would ask. Her reply wasnt nasty or cruel just she was concerned she'd noticed I'd gained a few pounds and it was unlike me. So like yourself I'm gonna get back on it today, I'm not gonna go into it thinking I can do the same distances as I've done previously or the same times per mile. I'm just gonna build slowly and try and enjoy it more than anything. First things first though, I need a new Spotify play list!
  10. I've been terrible the last four months, totally let myself go and basically lost all interest in exercise. Been out today and bought myself a new pair of running trainers and I'm going to start building up my distances from tomorrow.

  12. 39 years of age mate. It was just something we did near us from about 13 years of age until about 17/18. Then women and pubs became far more important.
  13. Don't know if anyone else lived in an area like me growing up but Wythenshawe in Manchester was a huge housing estate with various different areas that basically had their own teenage gangs. For a large part of my childhood and teenage life parts of Wythenshawe would be no go zone's. Often we'd arrange meet ups with rival areas in Wythenshawe Park or Sale fields for huge gang fights. The only thing I could relate it to was football hooligism. You'd get 30 to 40 lads either end of the field throwing bricks and stones until someone would get brave and breach the gap and then a war would break loose. So many lads would end up in hospital. Absolutely crazy to think a lot of the lads now work together or drink in the same pubs and laugh about the battles with a respect for one another. Really sad to think I used to really get excited about a Friday night at the park for a potential battle.
  14. We used to build a ramp near the local brook and attempt to jump it on our bikes. I don't remember many people ever making it across.
  15. We all loved doing that, crazy thing was I was on the park with my youngest the other week and I contemplated doing it for a second and couldn't through fear of breaking my legs. Didn't give a damn as a kid, flew through the air.
  16. Back from Zakynthos this afternoon, anyone worried about going away I can only say this. If you are doubled jabbed there is no PCR test needed for entry, just proof of the jabs. It's easy to get your test on resort for €20 for the return. They are desperate for custom, I got friendly with a restaurant owner over there and he told me they've suffered so badly and only had 48 days open last year and massive restrictions this year. Greece are amber and if you monitor the traffic light system and book at the start of each 3 week cycle it's well worth the effort to travel.
  17. I've had issues with my right side of my groin since my football days, the only thing I can suggest is rest. You try and exercise before it's ready and it will just go again. First time my groin went I was sprinting but after that it went literally from me turning round sharply on the field, it was like someone stabbed a knife in my groin it was that bad.
  18. Blood red sky I'm basically working my way through Netflix movies a the moment. This was pretty fun to be fair, plane gets hijacked, one of the passengers is a vampire who is trying to repress her hunger for blood for the sake of her human child. As you'd imagine all hell breaks loose on the plane and it turns into a blood bath. 6/10
  19. Seven Still as good as I remember it, brilliant script, amazing acting and unbelievable ending. What more can you ask for, made better because wife had never watched it. 9.5/10
  20. I didn't enjoy it to be fair, ended up turning it off after about 40 minutes as I couldn't see where it was going. As for Margot Robbie, she is that stunning she must look in the mirror and fancy herself
  21. Things heard and seen (2021) Another Netflix movie, couple move due to husband taking up job at a University and end up in a haunted house, all isn't what it seems with the husband as well. Wasn't bad but the ending ruined it for me. 5/10
  22. Aftermath (2021) Netflix movie so didn't expect a stellar cast of actors and that was the case, the movie itself was pretty good though. Basically a young couple who have been going through issues with their marriage decide a change of scenery and new house might help them move on and be happier. This is where it get's going, the husband works as a cleaner for crime scenes and he happens on this amazing property where a murder and suicide have taken place. He manages to convince his wife that buying the property at a marked down rate due to it's history is a brilliant idea. Things aren't as they seem when they move in though, the wife constantly feels there is someone else in the house and that she doesn't feel safe. I won't spoil any of the rest but the movie has you on the edge of your seat throughout. 6.5/10
  23. How do you know that, do you know someone who works in my office? Have they told you!!
  24. Off to Greece, holiday cancelled today and refunded in 14 days. Got a brilliant deal on Zante. If it happens, it happens, if it doesn't I get my money back. Looking forward to going to shipwreck beach, always wanted to visit it.
