  1. Liverpool have reached an agreement for the transfer of Giorgi Mamardashvili, subject to a work permit and international clearance – with the Valencia goalkeeper set to move to Anfield ahead of the 2025-26 season. https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/liverpool-agree-deal-sign-giorgi-mamardashvili
  2. I completely get the fear about the three contract situations. I'm an ideal world they'd have been sorted at some point last season but with Klopp announcing he was leaving that would have been difficult for the club to do. I don't think the Boston Red Sox thing is of any significance. Liverpool haven't lost many players they were desperate to keep under FSG. Certainly none on a free transfer.
  3. I'm not sure we can be critical of the two seasons under Klopp where we finished second by a point and say if they'd spent more money we'd have won it. 18/19 we get 97 points, the summer before we'd signed Alisson, Fabinho and Keita for big money. It was just a ridiculous bar to win the league that season. 21/22 (92 points) we sign Diaz in the January which gives us a boost and we then go on a run that takes the title race to the final day. Klopp was part of that recruitment team and never gave the impression he was unhappy with how Liverpool were operating in the transfer market. Arsenal have spent huge money over the last few years but still haven't broken the 90+ points needed to win the league. Anyway, this is the same conversation every summer and we're never going to agree are we...
  4. Unfortunately Alisson does get injured quite a lot for a goalkeeper. I used to be very critical of the way the club was being run but I don't see any need for that these days in terms of the football side. The super league stuff, ticket prices, copyright stuff yeah go for it and criticize them. They've got a lot right in terms of the football side though and I'm not sure you'd have the complaints you do had they not missed out three times to a club with 115 charges hanging over them.
  5. Thought Liverpool were really good yesterday. That move with the one-twos between Salah and a couple of others was sublime. Shame it didn't end in a goal. Early days but got a good feeling about us under Slot.
  6. Haha so whatever Liverpool do you'll never be happy. They just need to win the transfer window early to feed your addiction . I get it, you can't improve through coaching, you have to sign multiple players every summer
  7. What do you think they're doing with the money if they're not spending it? They made a very small profit last year and a loss the year before if I recall. Nothing to do with being tight cunts, everything to do with trying to make sure they don't make expensive mistakes.
  8. Maybe they have? Maybe whoever they want next is not available. There could be plenty of reasons why they haven't signed any one else yet. Wharton who hasn't even played half a season in the Premier League. I'm sure he'll need to do it over a longer period before any one commits to what will be a huge fee.
  9. The season we won the league we signed a back up keeper to replace the one that we sold. That was it. That was hardly strengthening the squad in terms of signings. There was plenty Edwards and his team got wrong early on. I get that people want signings but it's hardly a disaster if we don't sign anyone. I don't buy the weaker squad thing either because we've lost two players who barely played last season. That is surely balanced out by young players being better a year on and maybe Slot gets something different out of one or two playing slightly different roles. I don't think it's a case of not backing the manager. Clearly the money is there to spend, they'll just want to spend it on someone they're sure will be success. Don't buy the 'they won't fancy buying in January'. Liverpool have made plenty of big signings in January and will do so if the opportunity presents itself. I just don't think there's any need for Liverpool to be forced into a panic buy or a short term solution.
  10. People laud Edwards and were happy to see him back and then are surprised when he and his people operate as they have done for years. Doesn't make much sense to me but there you go
  11. Sounds like Gomez will stay based on what Slot said this morning
  12. https://www.thisisanfield.com/2024/08/liverpool-fc-transfers-fsg-jurgen-klopp-brendan-rodgers-ian-graham/ Think this just confirms what a lot of Liverpool fans suspected about Liverpool transfers under Rodgers. Still amazing he thought Benteke would be a good fit.
  13. Really good second half. Was always going to be a bit scrappy first hall. Could have had another one or two as well.
  14. 1. Man City 2. Arsenal 3. Liverpool 4. Tottenham 5. Newcastle 6. Man Utd 7. Aston Villa 8. Chelsea 9. Crystal Palace 10. Brighton 11. West Ham 12. Bournemouth 13. Brentford 14. Fulham 15. Everton 16. Wolves 17. Southampton 18. Nottingham Forest 19. Leicester 20. Ipswich
  15. It's a good thing they're planning for the future if they've decided he's the long term replacement for Alisson, no? Assuming you're talking about the Georgian GK..
  16. Well of course they'll have other players on their radar but maybe those are out of each at the moment. Or maybe they're willing to see how the current crop adapt to Slot. Some of these players will be playing slightly differently to what they did under Klopp so maybe they're willing to see how things go with them before going out and spending huge money. Liverpool can't afford to be spending big money on players and for many of them to go wrong. They need to be spending the big money on absolute certainties (Alisson, Van Dijk, Fabinho etc). Or maybe they're working on another deal as we speak? On one hand you're moaning that the Zubimendi saga was done so publicly via the journos and then the other that they're not telling you if they're going for someone else.
  17. Honestly don't think the current situation is anything to go over the top on. Unless there's someone available who they think is going to be an upgrade on what we already have there, there's no point. It's not like Liverpool are short of bodies for the midfield two. I'm more worried about the three whose contracts are up next summer. I'm sure they'll get sorted but I hope that's sooner rather than later.
  18. Well yeah but like I said they don't need to go out and panic buy if the next on their list isn't possible at the moment. I'd imagine so. From what I've heard of pre season he's played a bit more of a number 10 role which probably suits him.
  19. It seems to me like Liverpool were taking a punt on someone they thought would fit Slot's Liverpool better than Endo. They thought the player was willing to move but has then changed his mind. There probably isn't a need for an Endo type player from everything I've read and the little I've seen of Liverpool under Slot. They currently have other players who can play in the midfield two so there's not really a need to go out and panic buy and they can review what they've got as the season progresses
