  1. I just don't get how you can call them a bunch of muppets when they're probably working their arses off to find a cure as quickly as possible. Of course culpability and blame will be dished out but that doesn't mean we get to ignore the virus as it is with us now. It's not like you can go back in time and stop it, is it? There'll be the inquiry and investigations, definitely in the UK as well because it's quite clear there's so much done wrong. But to say it's 'their problem' is not the case - they may be implicated for how it spread but now it's up to the public for trying to stop the spread. 'I'd rather catch the virus'. So then what about your family and friends you might want to see? What if you carelessly gave them the virus and they died? Is their death on your hands too because you decided to not give a fuck any more?
  2. 'a bunch of muppets to find a cure for a virus' yeah you make it sound so easy Don't you realise that as soon as you start to do what you want you become one of those that we see on TV, flagrantly breaking the lockdown and putting others at risk? 'to save a bunch of toff boys arses'. I don't even know what you even mean by this. As if it's only those kind that could get struck down by the virus and as if the poorer people haven't been hit hard anyway Even saying that I get your frustrations. It's a totally shit situation having pretty much your work and life routine stopped in its tracks and for so long. But what else can you do? You can't go back to normal how it used to be. There's gonna have to be some adjustments made. How come you're not eligible for the 80%? Are you self employed? If so, are you not able to get the grant or apply from it on 13th May?
  3. I've seen shooting stars on a few occasions but how fucking insane would it be to see this with your own eyes

You might want to watch one episode of the latest Joe Lycett's Got Your Back series A guy on their took the issue to him about the sachets of Pot Noodles being the same even though the size of the pot is larger. So an XL size has the same as a standard size even though I think it says 4% of the package is meant to be the sachet contents. Larger pot should therefore mean larger sachet! Think you need to get a strongly-worded letter written as soon as you can to Unilever mate
  5. @nudge https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/52595896 The headline - 'first race back will be chaos' But what is also mentioned by Ricciardo.. "(It will be) some form of chaos, hopefully in a controlled manner," Ricciardo told BBC Radio 5 Live. "I am not really referencing cars everywhere. But there is going to be so much rust, a combination of emotion, excitement, eagerness."
  6. Slight drop in season 3 but still worth persisting with. Picks back up in season 4 with more twists.
  7. Yep sadly heard a lot of stories about it. BBC even did a broadcast from a 'social distancing VE Day party' ffs. Utter idiots. I mean, what the actual fuck are they playing at?! And for the BBC to even condone it?!
  8. Inspired by watching The Beach the other day
  9. Sorry but how are they the 'worst people through all this' There is a bit in the article which says it should only be reported for 'extreme circumstances' and I agree with that. But calling people out for breaking the rules really aren't 'the worst people'.
  10. Seen Scotland did similar with their lockdown. Enforced it for next 3 weeks as well but they can review it any time they want.
  11. Sir David Attenborough is 94 years old today! Hope he is remaining safe in these times! What a hero.
  12. Would love to know more about why police were there but having seen this footage, it begs the question why the police felt the need to Taser him, in front of his kid, when he wasn't really showing much aggression himself or confrontation towards the police Poor kid will be scarred mentally for ages no doubt seeing police shoot his dad, given he'll likely have no idea what a Taser is...
  13. Yeah they are one of the better ones still - but I think in general, journalism has gone downhill. I still go there for football/sport news and other news stories but even so, a lot of it has followed what social media is like - it's more about grabbing attention with a headline (the clickbait) and in some cases the likes/followers/hits on a site as opposed to yearning for and displaying the truth. I'm guilty of it too at times and that's the truth (ironically)!. The headline in question (F1 in 2020) is a perfect example of that. All the talk is about what will happen to races. One day there's hope of races continuing, season starting on X date at a certain track. The next day it's that headline saying 'no F1 in 2020' but it grabs the readers because they seek controversy, contradictions to catch people out.

Thank you for your service @CaaC (John) & @Bluewolf in all the wars over the years, and this is for you, on 75th anniversary of VE Day
  15. Glad you mentioned this as I've seen that first initial tweet (from a person with only 40-odd followers) spread like wildfire. Dare I say there's some bot activity... Anyway, props to the cameraman for the truth of the story too. Without that, who knows how much further the original tweet would have spread. At least you see the actual reasoning behind Starmer asking the cameraman. The power of social media and Twitter though showing up. I feel for Starmer. I know politicians will get the light shone on them furiously and so brightly pretty much every second of their lives but people trying to dig out Starmer here must be so, so desperate. They're probably tearing their hair out that Labour have someone competent now to challenge government. His performances in PMQs so far have been top quality. Calm, collected and factual.
  16. The poor black kid who got shot while out jogging in Georgia was shot by 2 ex-police officers He was chased by them and shot. Even when they rang 911, the dispatcher asked what Arbery had done wrong. They continued to shoot him more than once anyway https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/may/07/ahmaud-arbery-former-police-officer-and-son-charged-in-shooting-of-black-man
  17. Just watched a programme about the Hubble Telescope from a couple weeks ago. Charting it's first journey in 1983 and the first pictures of Eagle Nebula - the largest pillar is 30trillion km high, which 1000x the diameter of the solar system & Horsehead Nebula. Sheer stunning imagery. Such pure pictures and vivid scenes. They're so colourful and surreal. It really is amazing the work that would have gone in to it, and still does, is fascinating. And it's even more special given at that time, even in 1980s, technology was not as advances as it is now. The minds that would have worked on such missions decades ago were so powerful to create such a vehicle to get in to space and relay these pictures back with such clarity and precision. And then it went searching for the Black Hole! I didn't even know there were more than one to such a scale. I thought it was just that one massive black hole that everyone talks about and that's it. It's actually very brave and daring all these missions up to the telescope they create and execute, even if it's just to do running repairs on this giant piece of machinery, as if it was a general fix on your TV or something. Just casually go up in to space and replace a bit of kit with a more advanced piece of tech . It's just mind-blowing.
  18. And Raab just said the R value has gone down while the ONS chief stats guy said it has gone up Consistent message really helps clear things up for the general public
  19. New members only get to make the request I'm afraid @Danny
