  1. Fucking terrifying what is going on there.
  2. They are taking this in a very "El Salvador" approach. That precedent will make things tough.
  3. Hopefully Peru closes the border. DO NOT take these people in should they escape.
  4. The president went out to say they will exterminate all criminal groups in Guayaquil and the coast, and as a result the armed groups went out to Universities, TV shows live and other places to take hostages including policemen. Looks like we might have an "El Salvador" issue on our hands here.
  5. That is a neat German point of view and I respect it. However, I can definitely say that for a lot of people outside Germany it can be debated. Germany 2014 wasn't my favourite in terms of performances but in terms of quality it was an absolutely ridiculous team and even managed to beat Brazil 7-1 in a time where that is near impossible (especially in a place Brazil was deemed unbeatable). I have always said I liked the 2010 team more despite not winning but I get your point. 2002 was not a good side and they managed to reach the final.
  6. Falcao by that logic also doesn't have longevity. He was a very different player after injury. I will admit they aren't that far off though.
  7. This is important. Players these days are much better but I think it’s more fair to compare the legacy they left on an era and respect each era in its own right.
  8. No, James is arguably the best Colombian player ever. He had a huge dip in form after he developed an attitude but he still was excellent in his first season at Madrid, Bayern and for a few months at Everton he showed his class. He also was Banfield’s best player in their only title win ever and lead Colombia to an unthinkable quarter final (and I say this because nobody believed me when I said they could go that far, not because of what an increíble team they clearly were).
  9. As would most, I suppose the 2014 generation will be seen as legends as time goes on. From 2006-2014, they were the most consistent World Cup team and did manage to eventually win it.
  10. He’s definitely not a legend which may have been a mistake given the title of the thread but he was a motor for Real Madrid in a three peat of the CL and also important in a World Cup win. I think he deserves a bit more credit than he gets to be honest,
  11. This, my dad has spoken wonders of him.
  12. I think Tim Cahill earned it more than Kewell. Maybe he wasn't more talented but for the Australian NT he achieved more while being the star player for many more years including in an Asian Cup win (uncomparable because Kewell played more time in Oceania but it's about the principle). Fair enough on Johnny Warren. He was not better than Mark Viduka, Kewell or Cahill but his influence was stronger for the rest of time.
  13. Some bold takes in there, especially the Toni Kroos one but I truly believe he's accomplished enough both technically and trophy wise.
  14. I'm just trying to kill some time here as I'm waiting for something in a about an hour. Going to include up to 2 legends amongst the best each country has seen. I'll see just how cultured I truly am. Peru Teofilo Cubillas Hector Chumpitaz Ecuador Alex Aguinaga Alberto Spencer Argentina Diego Maradona Lionel Messi Brazil Pele Garrincha Uruguay Luis Suarez Obdulio Varela Venezuela Salomon Rondon Juan Arango Colombia James Rodriguez Carlos Valderrama Chile Alexis Sanchez Arturo Vidal Paraguay Jose Luis Chilavert Arsenio Erico Bolivia Victor Ugarte Platini Sanchez Germany Toni Kroos Franz Beckenbauer Spain Andres Iniesta Xavi England Bobby Charlton Kevin Keegan France Kylian Mbappe Michel Platini Portugal Cristiano Ronaldo Eusebio Netherlands Johan Cruyff Marco Van Basten Mexico Hugo Sanchez Chicharito USA Landon Donovan Christian Pulisic Canada Alphonso Davies Dwayne De Rosario Croatia Davor Suker Luka Modric Poland Robert Lewandowski Grzegorz Lato Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko Oleg Blokhin Japan Shinji Kagawa Kaoru Mitoma South Korea Son Heung Min Cha Bum Kun Australia Mark Viduka Tim Cahill New Zealand Wynton Rufer Chris Wood Nigeria Jay Jay Okocha Mikel John Obi Ivory Coast Didier Drogba Yaya Toure Algeria Riyad Mahrez Rabah Madjer Egypt Mohammed Salah Mohamed Abu Trika Scotland Kenny Dalglish Denis Law Italy Paolo Maldini Roberto Baggio
  15. Gerd Muller, Fritz Walter, Uwe Seeler, Rummenigge are 4 of them (3 now gone). I assume?
  16. According to my dad, he was ahead of his time. A defender who would do more than just defend. Legend of the game. RIP. First Zagallo and now him. Every day less legends from last century
  17. That is very fair, it's just my uncultured side that did not know it was based on a fairy tale haha
  18. Yes I get your point as well as @Dr. Gonzo and agree with it, but there are many people who will conform themselves just knowing English. This is a sad truth with a lot of people.
  19. Youre being very generous. The English there is definitely worse than in countries like Germany or Scandinavia but I just checked with Spain and the English proficiency is not bad. I do agree it's a bunch of countries where it's far easier to know the native language but I don't think it's impossible to get by. In South America on the other hand it definitely is barring Argentina.
  20. I never did. My wording was harsh but I was not speaking about everyone, that was your perception.
  21. I felt provoked through all angles. I will give you that it was arrogance but I was annoyed. This is not the first time I put a good point and then the other in question disappeared. Bad timing.
  22. That's a better way to put it and I agree with you in this sense. Tevez is definitely laziness, same with Bielsa on that end. Knowing English in football opens so many doors. I'd say after that Spanish and French are the most important. Anyways all I said was Anglophones are spoiled. I was sloppy in the way I worded it but English people definitely do NOT need to learn another language. Spanish people also don't need to but only if they want to stay in their bubble which is a lot more limited tbh.
  23. 1/7 of the world population can speak English with only 400 million native speakers. More foreigners speak English than actual native speakers. The second language I'd consider universal, Spanish, is only spoken by 75M non native speakers. I am not considering Hindi or Mandarin because of their enormous population in just a country mind you, I think they are different examples. Do we still think English is not universal?
