  1. Because I prefer the South Americans and England winning it.
  2. Which is why I said wait til the end of Mbappe's career. I think he's good enough now to claim a debate but if he breaks every record like what's predicted, he will be compared to Pele at international level rather than Zidane. Mbappe has had 2 legendary World Cups already and has won one of them. If he manages to win a 2nd and god forbid a 3rd which is very possible, it will be tough to debate by that point. And to clarify I am not comparing Mbappe to Pele in footballing ability, rather I am comparing the potential international career he could retire with.
  3. That makes sense, but to say it's not a debate is silly. Mbappe is on course to break every World Cup record having only played 2 tournaments and he's 25. I'm not doubting Zidane's career but Mbappe is very much in the discussion.
  4. The latter I disagree with strongly. In only 2 World Cups Mbappe is proyected to be more important than Pele and is already breaking records. At club level I suppose it isn't a debate, Mbappe hasn't really been a "different player" yet.
  5. I think Mbappe vs Zidane is debatable. Zidane at club level has achieved more easily, but in my opinion Mbappe has already done more at national team level. I suppose it really depends on what the end of his career will tell us, and we're still about 10 years away. The one I disagree with though is the Chileans. Alexis Sanchez is comfortably their best ever player and I don't think it's even a debate. Vidal could probably be debated but Sanchez carried them to their second Copa America win and was a top 3 player in the Premier League in his prime. My dad has told me that he was comfortably better than Zamorano (since I was too young to remember him). Also I think for Senegal that Sadio Mane is above El Hadji Diouf, but I guess it depends on where you rank what they achieved at the separate World Cups. Agree with the rest. I will admit Kroos was a very bold take.
  6. @Storts you were spot on about Glover. I will admit I didn't see the games or Middlesborough recently but Tom Glover hasn't needed to go back home to consolidate himself as you yourself said a few years back. Edit: apparently he did go back home originally, but semantics. He managed to find his way back to the UK.
  7. Civilians ready to fight. Good on them!
  8. Thanks for that insight, I was part of that mindset unfortunately but only because it became such a commonly misused term
  9. I did not know that. I guess "developing country" would be a better term? Regardless, we are pretty strong economically for LATAM standards. We have the third strongest currency in the Americas at the moment.
  10. No, you're right but I think in our case the military helps keep the constitution in check, something I find very surprising given the level of corruption and informality in this country. The politicians can't pull stupid shenanigans.
  11. We are far from first world for sure so I think that is fair, but failed state is extreme. Haiti is a failed state. Sudan is a failed state. Peru is not.
  12. Calling us a failed state is harsh though. I just looked it up and very few are truly "failed states".
  13. And the security has begun on the border.
  14. This twitter user is one of the most left wing agenda driven users on Twitter and I think he's a cunt, but the news he shares here is very worrying. We're 100% taking these criminals into Peru if they are expunged.
  15. There is no damage control - a bunch of people here fell for something years ago and keep biting on the hook. Kind of funny to be honest.
  16. This is very likely. Even when we had the socialist protests last year here in Peru, most of the people were funded by Evo Morales and the Cartel. Those people didn't have enough money to travel between cities.
  17. I agree with you, I'm just saying it can be dangerous if you don't regulate it. Venezuela hates us especially now because of how we've treated their citizens and it 100% was xenophobia because the legal Venezuelans who came in genuinely did it to succeed in life and not to hold Peruvians ransom from their own homes, but the latter, illegal citizens have ruined it for everyone. Same thing happened in Chile sadly. The reason most come to us and Chile and not Brazil is because there is nothing more strict than Brazilian border crossing. Not everyone can just waltz in there. Also because we 2 have the highest quality of life in SA atm.
  18. The Peruvian government is and always has been incompetent. We are probably the 2nd best South American country after Chile but it is mostly down to the current constitution and the military keeping things in order. The politicians tend to make piss decisions themselves.
  19. I know, but I think you need to understand why we've become distrustful of the regulation of which people from the other countries come in. Lima only has 1 local mafia out of 8. The rest are foreigners. When the Venezuelans came in, it was mostly illegal immigrants gang members. All the legal Venezuelans were genuine and top class, but the illegals left a bad mark on their nationality for Peru. I have a few Venezuelan friends here who had to leave because a Venezuelan succeeding here is almost impossible now. Point is, we need to have stricter regulations. I'm all for accepting refugees as long as they aren't gang members who created all the mayhem over there.
  20. They could live in Asia in Sinai. Nice try though.
  21. Milenials have left a mark on social media football. You see so many people talk about Zidane nonstop but not about Platini or Van Basten.
  22. I don't think Peru is a good choice for many reasons. The Venezuelan mafias have left a bad image on people who leave their countries for this sort of thing so people have become very xenophobic here and that is the sort of thing that creates criminals regardless of the person. If the Ecuadorians come as refugees after this sort of news which reminds us of the mafias here, they will NOT be received well by the locals. Also, I don't think this is the same situation at all but when the Rwandan genociders got accepted in Congo as refugees, it started 2 continental wars specifically in that country. For me, I would be very careful about who we accept in. Regulate it strongly or close the borders. Bukele has shown that these people deserve to rot in prison.
  23. These criminals need to be eradicated. Absolute animals.
  24. Last time we imported foreigners it didn't go well. I am not trying to be xenophobic but the stats don't lie that 7 out of 8 mafias in Lima are foreign. There is no regulation on who comes in which for me is the issue. Also we're not really in a position to take in refugees. We're one of the better countries in SA but we still have a lot of current problems.
