My teacher urged my mom to put me for the 11+ For to grammar but she wouldn’t because she was afraid she couldn’t socially compete as a widow with 2 kids. So I went to normal secondary as the clever kid from primary, by year 8/9 I was in with a bad crowd and it detracted from my education.
