Playing wise numbers for hockey are huge but that’s because it’s the no 1 girls sport and England have won that to. Hockey and handball are way down the scale on big sports, and we’ve won Olympic gold in hockey. Handball is basically basketball for Soggy Baguettes, Basketball incidentally is probably the forth biggest sport in the world in terms of viewership of a World Cup behind Football, cricket and Rugby. Handball is like darts in terms of relevance.

Of course you should celebrate it, as your own post says no others compete in multiple sports as highly as we do. For all Germany’s footballing skill they’ve not got the domestic talent pool competeing with rival sports to contend with. Adide from the olympics these are the 3 big world cups, we’ve won all. Therefore no other nation can say that they’re as good as the English when it comes to team sports, if they do I’ll say “win the big 3 and we can talk”
