  1. They did say that further restrictions will come in the coming weeks as the curve trends up and we try to manage a peak I saw some twitter doctor saying it was because they are mindful of the Spanish flu. I’m on phone but uploaded a pic (bottom of this post) they’re worried about stop it to soon the second wave will be worse The did say banning and further restrictions were coming but it’s about timing, certain companies etc have forced their hands by doing it to early was my point. It is the uk governments plan to lock down but not yet as they want to manage infection in those less at risk. The vulnerable are being told to isolate All deaths within age of concern +70 with existing health issues Has nobody seriously watched Pandemic on Netflix? It was done 18 months ago and talks the viewer through what will happen with a major flu outbreak. a lot of death comes from Smaller hospitals in more rural areas where doctors have to look after a few thousand population and they have limited resources. Should we see a peak priority will be given to larger urban centres with higher population meaning that preventable deaths will occur. Also you will have poorer survival rates in other ailments because of strain on resources. That’s what our nhs are trying to avoid. I was talking to a friend who is a paramedic down in Cornwall and he said that it’s already a mess, since Thursday all shifts have been responding to cunts with the common cold. these people ring 111 and the phone monkeys for 111 aren’t clinically trained so they ask basic questions on a crib sheet like “do you have chest pains?” These people with colds say “yeah I’m a bit chesty” and procedure dictates and ambulance must go to them. The paramedics have to go in full whites. He said people will die because we can’t get to those more needy because we’re tied up with nonsense.
  2. I think you’re over analysing the word “the”. If it doesn’t make sense it’s probably because I’m literally sat here policing two toddlers while tapping away at my phone. As far as I’m aware the mortality rate above 80s are approximately 15% percent obviously not all of the vulnerable die. It’s not proactive because in cancelling events goes against the plan in which is more of a managed infection so they can manage it. By cancelling events it’s affectively forcing their hand to go to Italy route.
  3. As opposed to other world leaders that called it a hoax? there’s plenty to dig Boris out for, being honest and saying this is the chief medical officer and this is the chief science officer they’re going to explain the strategy I’m following their advice. But I have to be honest this is going to cause loved ones to die. His honesty and sensible decision to put his faith in medical and science experts Is a world away from that, he’s handled this issue well tbh. it’s also what I find bizarre here, it’s medical and scientific experts calling the shots, yet people are prepared to question it citing no scientific evidence in most cases. I’m aware there’s conflicting scientific evidence to say aspects of the plan are risky but I find the hang up on Boris’s terminology bizarre. My sister is a Corbynite she reckons “it’s heartless Tories” the most vulnerable to this are 70+ and they’re almost all tory voters, people are thick
  4. Nah it’s honest, the vulnerable will die from this it’s a global pandemic. i don’t quite think the population have fully come to terms with what is happening tbh.
  5. It’s not proactive though if it’s working against official government strategy, it’s chucking a spanner in the works and forcing a recalibration of the plan. What’s said by the chief med & science officers is they’ve assumed we’ll all get it so they want events and schools to spread it amongst those least at risk to develop immunity. They’ve told the vulnerable to self isolate. the problem is to say this is politically and honestly is damaging, look at the way the media jumped on “loved ones will die” and stans reaction to prove this point.
  6. No not really saying “I’ll level with you we can’t stop this and you will lose loved ones, this is the greatest public health emergency within a generation” is frank honesty. Perhaps you’d have liked lies and “it’s just a sniffle” they made sensible points, closing schools would (although decrease the spread as kids are big spreaders) Mean that front line NHS staff are required to look after them, where as we need the NHS to manage this. It was all about how we manage the peak, we’re not where Italy are but it’s coming and if we can stay our hand until that point it leaves us best placed to handle the peak. The Italian model is to stop it completely but how long is that sustainable and what happens when it re-emerges? Uk strategy is that we’ve assumed we’re all going to get it so we want those least at risk to get it so we can manage infection rates against capacity. It’s risky but it’s also not as callous as being portrayed you can understand why when you watch it. its a massive problem with our society at present is that people can’t be bothered to listen to the information coming from the horses mouth and instead want click bait media shite with a vested interest in making people react a certain way. Frankly I think our media have been a disgrace so far over it and it’s no wonder you have people punching each other in Asda over bog roll and pasta.
  7. And that Stan is why fake news exists, it’s 3-4 mins of Boris then the specialists. Yet rather than watch it and make up your own mind you’d rather read a edited version designed to drive click traffic. Panic has gripped the event organisers and the population we’re not where Italy are yet the whole plan is up in smoke think sheeple, if our experts were correct and we hit the peak then the excess death may well be on our actions. Of course they could be wrong but we’ll never know now. Also I saw that China had donated lots of medical equipment to Italy but the EU has find the Italians for providing state aid to effected businesses. Yeah the EU gotta love it, you lot thought brexit was carnage
  8. Have a watch it sets out the policy. iTN news literally condensed it down to “you’ll lose loved ones”
  9. They acknowledged that in the press conference yesterday Nah it’s your partisan, they’ve gone to experts and those guys are the ones that will take a <5% death toll and pat each other on the back. In fairness I’ve seen Boris attacker all day, it’s probably the wisest thing he’s done in rather than making bombastic lock down statements is going with his experts. If it’s wrong it in a chief medical & science officer As in by the time it hits Italy style we are approaching warmer temps so it’s easier to cope as less seasonal cases They said yesterday they estimated ten thousand, did you seriously not watch the 40 min press conference? See above reply to Stan
  10. Kids are the main carriers, because of poor hygiene standards. I agree with the government’s / medical advisers point that if we stop too early as the disease peaks people will have gotten bored. Look at the toilet roll panic, people are stupid. I think that the medical professionals advising the government are prepared to let this run it’s course although they would never actually admit that. the cynic in me thinks that 15% eradication of the most needy in society and most draining on the NHS via a pandemic would be a result if You’re struggling to fund a public health behemoth. Also free up lots of council houses to solve a housing crisis, sounds cruel but the cull could be looked at as not a bad think if you’re the one balancing resources.
  11. Do you think that because seasonal flu we’re more likely to handle it better than other countries in the west given we’re 2 weeks from April the traditional end of flu season?
  12. Yes bad wording, passed by fluid droplets but they believe half a dozen people per infected so 10000 in a stadium aren’t all at risk. He did say a government will never admit it but they want healthy people to get this to build immunity So he can go round and visit the grannies himself? Nah tbh they are paying £4K if you want to get it for testing I’d recommend getting it if you’re healthy enough. Recovered people will be needed it if it peaks to help manage.
  13. I was talking to a doctor today who worked in R&D for a medical analyser company and he told me the following. kids and pets pass on diseases rapidly as poor hygiene if we close schools who will provide child care while parents work? Most likely grandparents and that’s the most vulnerable for influenza. So we could be pouring fuel on the fire. far better is if we allow the healthy population to get it recover and build up immunity within the population so if we do spike we have a % of the population to ensure essential services continue. old people and people with pre existing health complaints need to be wary the rest of us shouldn’t care. He also said that large events don’t make much difference as it’s fluid swapping italy and other med countries don’t have colder climes so less immunity to influenza style illnesses plus high % smokers do they will be disproportionately higher death rates. tbh it made sense to me and I agree, we’ve agree to not visit grandparents if things get bad and we’ll do shopping for them if they get ill etc also said he had a friend in Italy and everybody had a chest infection
  14. I’ve had a business trip to Düsseldorf cancelled today as all international travel our company have stopped. I think we’re a week away from working at home and school closures
  15. Italy has the highest number of Chinese tourists in Europe they got unlucky and had a lot from wuhan visiting before it became international news, they were fucked weeks ago they just didn’t know it until now.
  16. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-age-sex-demographics/ @nudge found this site, looks fairly informative. What do you reckon?
  17. Seems to be a lot of Iranians dying, any particular reason like shit medical care?
  18. So as you’re following it more closely than I am, can I pick your brain please? If they’ve not found patient zero are we to assume that they have tried to fight this illness themselves and not been to hospital or they’ve probably treated them but not worked out who caught from who?
  19. Chinese nationals or Italian nationals that have recently been to China? Or are we just now getting sporadic breakouts
  20. Colin is a lefty remainer parody account, there was a staffing issue at Amsterdam as the airport themselves have had to comment on it. It’s been taken up though and presented as fact by all our remain loving media outfits 24hours after it was revealed as a parody. But yeah fake news is all Russians
  21. What’s the thoughts on the level of Chinese health care? I’m ignorant of how good it is. Is it any good or are they sticking needles in people’s pressure points and getting them to lick newts?
