Based on yours and Dan's posts in the last week you two can only hope it is non-essential
-
Not boundaries as in what you can't cross but as in which areas have to shut shops. Non-essential travel to and from Leicester is now advised against by government. Going to work will be considered essential.
-
Council to decide boundaries Non essential shops to shut tomorrow Locals to wash their hands properly

Government report says Leicester should stay in lockdown for 2 weeks more than everyone else. Mayor of Leicester criticised the report for not explaining why and not understanding the City.
-
Doctors only assume she did. There wasn't any testing at the time she had it 3 months ago and they won't give antibody tests to the public. Assumption is it is COVID because there are others in the local community who are also reporting respiratory issues long after the virus has gone. Anti-biotics didn't do much and x-ray showed nothing.

She is definitely better, thanks for asking. Still not walking very far but able to lie down normally. How's it going with you?
-
Leicester might be put back into hard lockdown. Spike of cases in last 2 weeks.
-
To be honest people are doing it already. Pubs are serving takeaway pints. Walked past one two weeks ago. The village green type space opposite the pub was full of drinkers. People in central London are also doing the 3 common challenge

My take is that when rules change the first people to rush out and do what is now allowed are guinea pigs. The impact of their actions is monitored by scientists behind a glass so to speak. I'll give it a couple of weeks for the guinea pigs to show it's ok before I join in.

He chats a lot of shite so the question is did they, whoever they are, do what he said he asked? Isn't testing responsibility at the state level?

Six months to recover, fuck

Danny WaitRose as he's being cruely called on Twitter -
I'm glad you're better as it gives me some hope. My mother is unfortunately a long-hauler. She has been largely bed ridden now for coming up 3 months. She can't walk far at all without getting out of breath or ending back in bed for days on end. She was healthy before this started. You're left with the fear that her life is irreparably damaged. We don't know when it will end. We don't know what's going on. Doctors have been fluctuating between clueless and helpless throughout this period which is understandable to a degree, but I can't help but feel the level of care has been sub standard. There's definitely more that could be done for her but the NHS has stripped itself right back to almost emergency care only.

Apparently there has been an increase in hospital admissions in Newcastle in the last week. Along with the increase already seen in London. Of course an uptick is expected. Just have to see how big that is.
-
Deaths on a given day are typically from infections 14-30 days ago. What matters more are new cases and where (geographically and whether in general public or care/hospital setting). 8k a day and a small uptick in London last week. England is a massive country. More people live on my street than live in Wales. I'm surprised England isn't taking a regional approach to lockdown relaxation based on hot spots found in testing.

Only seen John Edmunds. Are there others?
-
One dissenter within SAGE briefing the media that lockdown relaxation at this current point is a political decision and not a scientific one.

Let's hear it for the spreadsheet champions. £34.7m profit in a year that Mike Ashley also took £30m out of the club. -
Great questions. Would love to know the thinking behind it. Speculating but could be for business purposes. Could be to see if there is a spike in new cases before the rule day. Majority will stick to rule day. Could be because they're so excited to have come up with a new idea they can't hold it in

The Norwegian PM was asked the other day why countries with female leaders seemed to do better with COVID, like New Zealand. Her response was that though she'd like to think it is because they're women her social psychologists would tell her it is more likely down to being flat hierarchies with high levels of public trust and that those environments also allow women to be leaders. As opposed to the UK where the ranting nonsense of males like you lot fuels a society that looks to masculine forms of leadership

Head of Norweigen equivalent to PHE said the other day that Norway's lockdown was pointless because R was 1.1 at the time so outbreak could have been managed without closing schools and such.

I'm on the floor laughing at Nick Ferrari's interruption there Gove clearly finds this all funny as well. Not sure what the end game with this is, perhaps to just wait it out.
-
sorry to hear that.

President of Austria just did that after he broke lockdown rules. Though not quite the same. He stayed in a restaurant beyond the time it was legally allowed to be open. Blamed chatting and losing track of time.
