  1. I'd root for any Porsche works driver, but yeah, Hartley gets extra sympathy points for being a genuinely nice guy... also it's always nice to see a driver getting a seat through hard work and determination.
  2. Extremely happy for Hartley. He might not be an extraordinary F1 driver, but he's definitely a very good one with a lot of experience and this is a dream come true for him after being dropped by Red Bull years ago. Not many get a newchance at F1 at his age, well done. Will be rooting for him next year.
  3. Heads up for anyone who's interested - FIA GT World Cup takes place in Macau this weekend. Great street circuit which is considered to be be among the most difficult ones in the world, lovely cars and quite a few well known names behind the wheel! The race will be streamed live here: https://www.fia.com/2017-macau-grand-prix-live-stream There's also the last round of WEC in Bahrain with the title still up for grabs in three classes, should be an epic race!
  4. Merc engine on full power is just scary; Hamilton overtaking other cars looked like a F1 arcade on easy level instead of real life racing...
  5. I'm concerned about Zarco next season if he gets the current Yamaha M1 bike though; it seems to be completely shite and one of the main reasons behind Yamaha's disappointing season. I doubt they are going to change their policy though, and Tech3 might have to stick with it. Looking forward to what Franco Morbidelli can show at the top level next year!
  6. Didn't happen Marquez was veeeeeery close to crashing out with only 7 rounds to go, amazing skill to pick himself up though Dovi crashed out a while later ending the suspense. Zarco unlucky to lose it to Pedrosa at the very end, still a great race for him. Very exciting end of the season, will be looking forward to the next one!
  7. My weekend is very meh. Some work, some motorsports, some sleep, some pizza, some beer.
  8. Zarco is champion in the making, I think he is set to replace Rossi when he calls it quits... Can't believe Suzuki rejected him and signed Rins a while back. He's set to stay in Tech3 for one more season though. And yeah, Marquez is well in control, sadly. Hope he crashes out tomorrow
  9. Marquez crashed in qualifying, still managed to get the pole though. Dovizioso with disappointing P9 only, isn't really going well if he's still to try and fight for that title... Still should be an epic race tomorrow. Zarco's on fire, will start 2nd! Not bad for a rookie. Top talent.
  10. Could be, but they are too inexperienced to do it alone, there are rumours they might partner with Cosworth who are also interested to return to F1. Aston's latest hypercar, Valkyrie, has its V12 engine designed by Cosworth, so the partnership is already there.
  11. But of course, no fun without the off track drama We'll see. Cosworth and Aston seem to be particularly interested, and those new proposed regs are definitely focused on making the engines cheaper and simpler in order to attract new suppliers. There seems to be enough interest for it from both sides, so I can definitely see that happening.
  12. 4 manufacturers are very interested and consider joining if the new 2021 regs are confirmed (Cosworth, Porsche, Aston Martin and Ilmor).
  13. Ohhhh, some proper F1 drama developing, I'm going to get my popcorn
  14. F1 really needs more independent engine manufacturers to avoid shit like that. Would be interesting to see what happens if Renault withholds the engines though Anyway, why are Renault angry at Torro Roso and blaming them for the PU issues? It's not only Torro Roso who've been experiencing it recently, so the main problem can't be their car?
  15. Williams and FIA people just barely escaped too! Just outside the circuit as well, it's been happening for quite a few years now in Brazil, lack of security really is ridiculous. Hope everyone is well, that's quite an experience...
  16. Probably just wanted some proper raclette.
  17. Ricciardo, Hartley and Gasly are all given 10-place grid penalties for using their 8th MGU-H of the year. Hartley could pick up further penalties as his car was more or less on fire again Big issues with Renault power units recently.
  18. Ernst Hausleitner and Alexander Wurz on ORF1 (Austrian TV) are the best commentator/moderator duo for me, personally. Sky's coverage is ok, I like Mike Surer, not so much Sascha Roos. RTL's coverage is horrible.
  19. Just watched the pilot episode of Damnation, a new series depicting the rising farmer and labor movement against unfettered capitalism during the Great Depression in some small Iowa town. Looks interesting so far, it's definitely inspired by Deadwood a lot. @Viva la FCB you might want to take a look, it's sort of a "pseudo western".
  20. Hamilton earning some sympathy points there!
  21. I dislike Wehrlein ever since I've watched him regularly in DTM; fast driver but such a spoiled brat and cocky af. Seems to have matured a bit though.
  22. Hope it's not Ericsson, would much rather see Giovinazzi there. You and your Kvyat Would love to see Kubica back, but apparently he's not impressed that much in tests so far.
  23. Leclerc to Sauber is also expected to be confirmed soon, so there's only 2 seats left to fill.
