Yeah, that doesn't sound healthy, to put it mildly.

Always reminds me of Johnny Cash's "The Boy Named Sue"

Loved it. It was not only about the portrayal of Native Americans in movies, but also to draw attention to the Wounded Knee standoff, which was under media blackout so the general public wasn't too aware of what was going on there. It's interesting to see what attitudes were had by people in the movie industry back then. Marlon Brando was an activist in the American Indian Movement for years. Roger Moore, who was supposed to present the award, helped her get off the stage and make it to the press area safely to share Brando's 15 page manifest. Meanwhile, John Wayne had to be constrained by six security guards to keep him from assaulting her, and Clint Eastwood mocked her in his speech afterwards.

They're still very slow, especially compared to aircraft. Most cruise ships have in-service speed of just over 20 knots, so about 40-45km/h. Ferries/Ro-Ro ships are somewhat faster, with average speeds of around 25 knots, maybe up to 30 or so. When I worked for a ferry company, we had a few high-speed Ro-Pax ferries in the fleet; those were operating at speeds of around 40 knots (roughly 75 km/h). There are a few newer ones now that can reach 50 knots and more. So at best, you'd be travelling at max 100km/h. Your average commercial flight goes around 800-900 km/h. So for a 3 hour flight, around 2500 km, you'd need at least 25 hours on a high-speed ferry, and that's if you are on the fastest ones. Around 35-40 hours, more realistically.

Went to a Turtle Conservation Center Today. Such fascinating animals... Met the marine biologists working there who explained their work procedures and gave a lot of general information on turtles. Also had a chance to help release the baby turtles into the wild!

I like it so far! The country's currently in crisis; there's a massive shortage of fuel, gas and electricity, so there are scheduled power cuts daily and people stand in long queues to get gas canisters and diesel. Inflation is high and rising, so prices are obviously rising too. Protests are starting to take place, mostly in Colombo. Tough times for the locals, but personally, it hasn't affected me much. I'm always working remotely, yeah. Been moving countries for a year now, as I got stuck in Europe when covid crap started and couldn't go back, so decided to take advantage of a shitty situation and spend some time in new places I haven't visited before.

We're talking about scorpions here though. Different rules may apply to people (cough cough) who jinx Werder whenever they watch them play...

Just horrifying, those poor people... Can only hope they all passed out during the nosedive and didn't have to go through those few minutes of absolute terror. RIP to the victims

At school in early 90s we were still taught of Eurasia as a continent - not Europe and Asia as two separate ones!

Don't be too sure. I've had it three weeks ago and literally didn't feel a thing, the only reason I know is because I had to take a PCR test for travel related reasons. Did another one straight after getting a positive result as I thought it's false, and it was positive too.
