I just think “quality over quantity” really. Plus a thirty game season reduces the 21%, so you could effectively wipe out all midweek fixtures, meaning those in Europe are fresher for it, plus it may, however unlikely, see clubs take cup competitions a little more seriously due to the reduced amount of games elsewhere. Ljubljana was lovely. Quite a small city so you can see everything in a day, two at most but we got the train out to Lake Bled, which is breathtaking.

Off to Ljubljana tomorrow evening for a few days. Taking in Lake Bled as well while we’re there. It turns out it’s the “Eternal Derby” on Saturday night in the Slovenian Prva Liga between Olimpija Ljubljana and Maribor. I won’t be going, unfortunately.
