@Spike A good laugh at years gone by when The Lions were called Fitzroy and The Sydney Swans, South Melbourne, all games played in Victoria.
-
I watched the highlights, and the Lions were all over them after the 1sr Qtr, like you said they slaughtered them, I still get goosebumps when I see matches at the MSG as I have been there many a time watching Carlton play, the last time was in the 1970 GF when my Blues beat Collingwood in a classic. To think the Sydney Swans were called South Melbourne and The Lions, Fitzroy when I lived out there and all the teams were based in Victoria. https://www.afl.com.au/video/1233090/highlights-sydney-v-brisbane?videoId=1233090&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1727509661001

Na, Liz won't argue with me if she knows I am right and she is wrong, she is terrified of creepy crawlies, especially spiders, I am her official catcher of them and she knows if she upsets me and one of the latter is around I tell her "Get rid of it yourself..." I can remember many a time when I was working and came home and saw my slipper lying on the floor I would see a creepy crawler squashed underneath it. I told her never to kill a spider as that was classed as bad luck, walked in one day and there was a glass on the lounge floor with a spider underneath it and she said "I never killed it as you said that's bad luck...", I asked her how long had it been under the glass and she said when you left for work this morning. Well, that spider had been under the glass for around 12 hours and I said "The poor thing has more than likely suffocated by now!!!!"

I am glad we brought our daughter up to love animals, she found this wee thing in her car park but nearly at death door and then sadly, passed away in her hands, she was heartbroken the same as wee Kaiden who both walked around our place and buried it beside her other pet rats from a year back who passed away in our garden.

Going back to the good old days, in my time after WWll, rationing was still going on in the early & late 50s but where we lived was a very close-knit community, not many people had phones, there were no mobiles or internet but we all watched out for each other. Your opinions were normally aired out in the local boozer or club over a pint, nowadays opinions are given out over the net, mobile or phone and then maybe clubs & pubs. We had no phone but if the next-door neighbour wanted a natter with my mum she would knock on the lounge wall with whatever and my mum would go outside and have a natter over the fence, normally it was to do with a bit of gossip heard or to borrow some milk or tea etc.
