ScoRoss Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 The road to the Maracanã starts tonight in Venezuela
Mpache Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 I was just about to start a thread. Beat me to it. Carabobo vs Universitario is the first game. As expected, I'm going for my Peruvian brothers. La U have built a decent team and it would be a disaster if they can't win.
Mpache Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Carabobo drew 1-1 with Universitario yesterday. Dull game, both teams were quite poor offensively. La U were more dominant in the middle but had nothing to show for it.
Mpache Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 Had no idea Alisson was a Fluminense fan @El Profesor
Mpache Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 Results yesterday DIM 4-0 Deportivo Tachira U de Chile 0-0 Internacional Macara 0-1 Tolima Jamilton Campaz for Tolima scored a nice goal yesterday. Looks like a promising talent.

Administrator Stan Posted February 6, 2020 Administrator Posted February 6, 2020 Yeah Brian, do your research
Mpache Posted February 6, 2020 Posted February 6, 2020 Yesterdays results Universitario 1-1 Cerro Porteño Cerro Largo 1-1 Palestino The Strongest 2-0 Atletico Tucuman Guarani 1-0 Corinthians
Mpache Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 DIM is the first qualification round team to reach the group stages. They lost 1-0 last night to Atletico Tucuman but beat them 4-2 on penalties. They will face Boca, Libertad and Caracas.

No doubt that Atletico Tucuman would have felt the affects of the thin air, in the Bolivian mountains.
Mpache Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Internacional 1-0 Deportes Tolima (1-0) Cerro Porteño 0-4 Barcelona (0-5) Barcelona goes into group A with Flamengo, Junior and Independiente del Valle while Internacional go Group E with Gremio (!!!) Catolica and America de Cali.
Administrator Stan Posted February 27, 2020 Administrator Posted February 27, 2020 Barcelona should breeze that group. Even if they rest their big stars I can't see them not qualifying.

That was a good run, a clever shimmy and a cool finish. But the defending by that defender was terrible, he was so easily beaten. Fidel Martinez is a very talented winger, it's a shame he never tried his luck in one of the European leagues.

It's an extremely similar goal to Messi vs Bayern - hence why I said "look familiar?" And yeah I really liked Fidel when he was in the Liga MX. Things didn't quite pan out for him but he's dominated the start of the Libertadores. Good on him.
Michael Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Yes, the Mexican league is probably an easier league for South Americans to settle in, I suppose. Eduardo Vargas, plays in the Mexican league after having essentially failed in Europe. Vargas was absolutely amazing for Chile, scoring goals galore. But at the same time, he really struggled in Germany, England, Spain and Italy. But it seems like he has scored a decent amount of goals since he joined Tigres in the Mexican league. Vargas has always been one of those players who has looked world class for the national team, yet has struggled at club level, well at least in the big leagues of Europe.
Mpache Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Palestino take the lead away to Guarani. 1-1 on aggregate. Penalties if it stays like this at full time.
Mpache Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 Guarani 2-1 Palestino The groups are complete. Guarani go into Group B with Tigre, Palmeiras and Bolivar. Here are all the groups.
Mpache Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 I'm looking to go see Alianza Lima vs Nacional this week. Tickets are taking a lifetime to go up though!
El Profesor Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 @Inti Brian Guerrero scored twice and Inter beat Universidad Católica 3-0.

Mpache Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Internacional 3-0 Catolica Defensa y Justicia 1-2 Santos DIM 1-2 Libertad Athletico Paranaense 1-0 Peñarol America de Cali 0-2 Gremio Caracas 1-1 Boca Juniors
Mpache Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 I saw Caracas vs Boca. Boca's 2nd string team played well but you can see why it was their second string. Really struggled to put away their chances. Caracas really only had one clear shot at goal and it was the free kick that went in, though that's not to say they didn't have a go. Some quite dangerous attacks.
