Because if you're going to have an ancient historic, and what I assume is sacred to many Israelis, artifact... you're not just going to pose with it in the streets without any care as to whether you're properly handling an ancient manuscript? Just seems like it's playing off lazy "those sneaky Jews" anti-semitism to sort of cover up the fact the Israeli rescuers that were sent had to go home early because there were serious threats to their safety, despite them being there to rescue people who were impacted by the story. Now all of a sudden there's a picture of a guy posing with a supposed historic artifact to make it seem as though there's some sort of underhanded reason the Israeli rescuers left early and the threats to them were all bullshit. Hope is whatever damage there was to be done happened during the first earthquake but no doubt there will be more casualties. Don't really know where the science is behind predicting earthquakes and why it's difficult to predict earthquakes but it's scary knowing how something like this can just happen seemingly out of nowhere.
