Davitashvili  gives Georgia the lead against the run of play! He cut in from the right flank and went on a mazy run and then eventually slotted the ball home! Poor defending to be fair by the Dutch, but the Georgians won't be complaining!

Georgia 1-0 Netherlands

Portugal take the lead against Belgium through a goal by Joao Neves!! If Portugal manage to hold on to the win, that will mean that a draw for the Netherlands won't be enough for the Dutch to advance. But Joao Neves with a huge goal for Portugal here.

Tiago Dantas scores a late penalty goal for Portugal to give them the lead against Belgium! This means if the Georgia v Netherlands match remains a draw and Portugal hold on to the win, then Georgia and Portugal will advance to the next round!

Well the matches in this group end with the following results:

Georgia 1-1 Netherlands

Ukraine take the lead against Spain through a powerful headed goal by Bohdan Viunnyk! Nazarenko made the run down the right hand flank and he delivered a lovely cross for Viunnyk to beat his marker and head the ball into the net! If Ukraine manage to win this game, they will have won all 3 of their group games and maintained their 100% winning record to top the group!

Spain 0-1 Ukraine

Ukraine retake the lead through a penalty scored by Sudakov! The Spanish keeper brought down Sikan in the area and the substitute Sudakov stepped up and tucked the penalty away, low into the corner of the net, sending the keeper the wrong way.

England beat Germany 2-0, with goals from Cameron Archer and Liverpool's Harvey Elliott. England top the group with 9 points having won all of their 3 group matches. Israel finished 2nd in the group, having beaten the Czech Republic 1-0 today. So England and Israel qualify, while the Czech Republic and Germany are knocked out.

Yea, that was an awful campaign from Germany. 😐

Yeah, disappointing from Germany, as England won comfortably in the end. But with only one point gained, the defending champions bow out early. The France national team looked stacked with quality, they along with England, Ukraine and Spain look the strongest of the remaining teams. Although Italy can't be ruled out as a tough opponent, even thought they haven't qualified for the next round yet.

Well in the last two remaining matches of the group stages, Norway surprisingly defeated Italy 1-0 while France thrashed Switzerland 4-1. These results see France top their group on 9 points, having won all 3 of their group matches. Switzerland finished 2nd in the group and will therefore join France in the quarter finals.

Italy 0-1 Norway

Switzerland 1-4 France

Quarter Finals:

Well, what a a great result it was for Ukraine, as they defeated France 3-1. Lyon's Rayan Cherki gave France the lead in the 19th minute, as he controlled the ball in the penalty area and took a left footed shot that saw the ball nestle into corner of the net. Sudakov equalised for Ukraine in the 32nd minute, as his well taken penalty, accurately found the bottom hand corner of the net, sending the French keeper Chevalier the wrong way in the process. Sudakov scored a 2nd goal to give Ukraine the lead just before half-time. Mudryk started the move, as pinged a lovely through ball to Sudakov, who beat the off-side trap, then went on a silky run, rounded the French keeper Chevalier and slotted the ball home into the net.

In the second-half, Bondarenko sealed the win for Ukraine in the 86th minute. Bondarenko made a run in the righ hand side of the area, he skipped past France's Lyon defender Lukeba and then Bondarenko chipped the ball over the advancing French keeper Chevalier and found the back of the net. The Ukrainians will take a lot of confidence from this win over France, as they faced a French side stacked with talent.

Final score: France 1-3 Ukraine

In the other quarter final match, England took the lead in the 34th minute through a goal by Anthony Gordon. Gibbs-White managed to put in a cross from the right flank and his cross found Gordon in space and he found no trouble finding the back of the net with his finish. England held on to their lead and advanced to the semi-finals.

Final score: England 1-0 Portugal

In earlier matches Spain defeated Switzerland 2-1. Sergio Gomez gave Spain the lead, as Gomez slotted home Abel Ruiz's pass pack and found the bottom hand corner of the net at the near post. But in the 91st minute of injury time, Switzerland found an equaliser, as von Moos put Amdouni through on goal in the area and he managed to slot the ball home past the onrushing Spanish keeper Tenas. However, Spain re-took the lead in the 103rd minute of extra time,  as Juan Miranda's long range shot from outside the area, took a deflection off of Swiss defender Blum and found the back of the Swiss net. It was a well deserved win for Spain, as they were the much more dominant side throughout the match.

Final score: Spain 2-1 Switzerland

Hosts Georgia were unlucky to be knocked out on penalties by Israel in another quarter final. However, after the match remained goal-less for more than 120 minutes, penalties was the only way to separate the sides and it was the Israelis who delivered in the penalty shoot-out.

Final score: Georgia 0-0 Israel (Israel win 3-4 on penalties)

Angel Gomes and Curtis Jones are such a good base, Gomes is really solid defensively, reads the game around him, knows when to drop into the back line, his tackles always seem to land and he is agile on the ball and can find a man between the lines.

Jones is just playing men against boys, looks so composed and is rarely outfought physically.
