Alisson out for 6 weeks.

Fan-fucking-tastic. It’s a good job we have a top 2nd choice, but like Mike said, it’s terrible timing.

I don't rate Kelleher as highly as some Liverpool fans do. I think you can get away with it against sides you'd expect to end up in the bottom half of the league but this is really bad news with the games we've got coming up.

Slot said after the game he thought it would be a month, I said it looked slightly worse than that.

I don’t think he’s let us down so far though, has he? As far as number 2’s go, he is one of the best around.

I don't think having Kelleher in goal is going to be as bad as we think it might be. Our defense is doing very well and I am sure Slot has a plan for how he wants to get through this period. I don't think with the fixture congestion we were going to get away with a perfect run anyways.

There might not have been any mistakes worthy of a YouTube compilation but there were certainly goals last season that he let in that were extremely soft or ones you just know Alisson wouldn't have conceded. I'm not saying he's a bad number two but there's definitely plenty of Liverpool fans out there who don't think the difference between the two is big. It is. Or they go over the top and say Kelleher would be first choice for 15 other sides in the league or something silly.

Liverpool do need better given Alisson's injury record and it makes sense why they went for another keeper this summer even though he won't arrive until next year.

I think there's a big drop in quality between Alisson & Kelleher. But honestly, I think there's a big drop in quality between Alisson and most other keepers in the league. As far as a number 2 goes, Kelleher's been pretty solid when called upon.

I'm not too concerned, but maybe Alisson's regular injury absences are why we've spent a lot on that Georgian fella at Valencia. They've got to be, right? Weirdly though, I feel more comfortable with Kelleher as this new keeper we'll be bringing in next year's meant to be a bit shit on the ball despite being a reportedly brilliant shot stopper. So I think there will be a steep learning curve for him to get used to our system.

At this point though, I feel like we should come to expect at least one lengthy injury absence from Alisson a season - unfortunately. It's been the case for a while now.

@LFCMike do you think Trent’s leaving for Madrid in the summer. I’ll be gutted tbh

Honestly, I've no idea. Would like to think it gets sorted. I'd be gutted to lose any of the three at this stage but understand the other two are a bit different given the age they're at.

With the Carvajal injury being a serious one, you'd think Real Madrid would now pursue Trent in a more aggressive fashion.

Regarding Kelleher, Liverpool fans I spoke to on the weekend all unanimously said they feel like he's always got an error in him. I asked if that's because you have one of the best goalies in the world and that got a missed response. Either way, I'd take him here which is probably about his level.

Yeah, I saw the messages and she says she’s a month off being 18 and he says that they can talk as long as she gives consent. He does look thirsty but that’s about it.

I think Trent goes, but I’m confident we keep Salah and Virj.

Would you take that? I've no idea what will happen, still hoping all three stay but obviously if that happens RB is the position we already have someone there to step in even if Bradley is a different player to TAA.

I wouldn’t take it, I want all three to stay. I just have a bad feeling that Trent goes to Real Madrid.

Yeah that goes without saying. I meant if one of them was to leave

Misread your post 😂 I think, if it came to that and we can only keep 2/3 then I’d let Trent go. The other two are more important, and like you said, we have a very good replacement with Bradley.

Idk Trent is a generational fullback imo. Salah's probably the hardest to replace though because a world class winger like him, who's excellent at creating and goalscoring is just about the most expensive sort of player in the world (and realistically any replacement that comes in will fall short of his standard).

I will be/would be gutted if he does leave us. Particularly if he leaves us for those cunts in Madrid. Especially on a free transfer.

But Virgil's a leader and an absolute rock at the back, tough to replace him. Salah's imo the best attacking player in the world right now, regardless of how much Vini thinks he deserves the Balon d'Or and thinks he was disrespected by coming 2nd place to Rodri (who deserved it)... which btw if Vini thought it was such an insult to come in 2nd, it was a pretty extreme insult to Mo. Bradley looks very good and arguably is a better fit in Slot's system (although I'd argue against that tbh) - so you're probably right, if we kept the 2 older players we'd probably be better off. At least in the short term.

I hope Hughes & Edwards do manage to pull off keeping all three though. Doing that would be more important than any new signing they could make, honestly.

I don’t disagree with any of that @Dr. Gonzo It’s just a shitty predicament that this club have put themselves in. Trent should have been tied up on a long deal 18 months ago. Him leaving is bad enough, but to potentially not get a transfer fee would be criminal.

18 months ago he still had two years left on his deal so I think that's a bit unfair. Around one year ago or the summer at the latest is when you'd have expected their talks to start. Unfortunately circumstances with the change of manager and sporting director have made that more difficult. They couldn't have tied TAA down this time last year without being disingenuous. They already knew Klopp was going but it hadn't been announced yet. The players have every right to see how things are going to go under the new manager too. Hopefully having experienced the start under Slot he'll want to make sure he's tied down here.

I’m just not letting Trent go into his final year without a renewal, I think it’s very risky. I get the circumstances around Klopp going, but I’d have offered him a deal before any of that. We see renewals done all the time when players still have years left. Possibly a harsh take, but it’s Trent we are talking about here.
