I have actually half followed it this year although that's mainly for gambling purposes. So many goals.

you'd do well on SkyBet's 'over X goals, over X booking points & over X corners'.

But yeah, goals galore in most games. Over 1.5 in all A-League games over the weekend would be decent too.

Should be an easy win for Sydney tomorrow morning against Central Coast Mariners.

If I were a Sydney fan, I'd expect 3-0 or 4-0.

Why are there only 2 games this weekend though?

Didn't realize that until now! My side are playing but I'll be away from the Internet.

Not sure why only two games. I'm out of the loop.

yeah tough game for you lot away at Melbourne Victory. Expecting a loss for you guys :(

Would be delighted with a point. We often do well in Melbourne. But, the Victory's front line is super impressive. We have Rhys Williams (of Middlesbrough captain fame) getting slowly back to his best. He will need to combat the attack. I am expecting 5-6 yellow cards to my side lol

scenes in Adelaide.

10-men Adelaide have a free-kick in the 95th minute. It's shit and keeper catches it. An Adelaide player holds the keeper to stop him throwing it out. The Brisbane goal-keeper elbows the Adelaide player and now Adelaide have a penalty xD

This league is utterly ridiculous sometimes.

In the worst possible way yes.

Didn't even see the A-League thread. I was following it and watching matches earlier this year as part of a project. While that is done and dusted I'm still following scores. I personally like Perth. Sydney FC are crazy this year though.

Video technology has just been used for the first time in this league.

Sydner corner taken, defender handballed but ref missed it. Play carried on and Wellington went up the other end and a shot went out for a goal-kick.

Referee used Video Assistant Referee. Penalty given.

About 20 second stoppage in play.

So Perth Glory need a 4-goal swing againt Melbourne City to have a home play-off final.

It's currently 4-1 to Perth Glory. 15 minutes to play

The 4th goal came from Marinkovic who came on and immediately scored a free-kick xD

posted that 10 minutes ago and it's now 5-3 to Perth xD

City brought it back to 4-3 and it seemed as though they would equalise. It's just attack vs defence now.

You can't say this league doesn't provide entertainment. This morning's game finished 4-3 as well.

hahaha wtf has heppened there. Liam Reddy, the Glory goalkeeper, comes out about 30 yards in front of his defence. Gets tackled and City score with him in no-man's land.

Ridiculous scenes.

I went to watch Sydney FC vs Melbourne City with Simon, the standard out here is quite low and tbh I feel sorry for Australian fans. There's a strong European/South American Ultras style attitude and they do try to create some noise even if it goes against what I'd deem normal, but the football is utter gash.

Sydney have smashed the League this season and their goals were scramblers and toe pokes. I feel like if the money available was used to sign a higher caliber of team rather than single out retired stars the league would be much better. But then the problem is would it sell as much without the big names when AFL dominates Victoria/WA and NRL dominates NSW/QLD.

I would honestly say the quality is somewhere between Championship and League 1. Just comparing our season in the play offs, there was no quality at Sydney FC like what we had with the likes of Judge, Pritchard, Odubajo etc and we got knocked out of the play-off semi finals.

The fans do try and make a day of it even if they do copy ultras from abroad (Sydney had a "capo" of sorts who stood in a box with a megaphone, whilst someone stood below him with a strap on drum), and the fans sang along to things like "forza Sydney".

I am going to try and do a Sydney FC vs WSW game though, does look a tidy game rivalry considering there is naturally a rivalry between North Shore/Eastern Suburbs/South Sydney vs western Sydney.

a couple of Brisbane Roar's goals as well as the Marinkovic free-kick for Perth today were really good. Far from tap-ins!

I agree about the standard though. It's not the best but far from the worst.

That is one of the worst blunders I've ever seen purely for the fact that the whole video is littered with mistakes. Why come out of the area in the first place? Why try to go around an opponent when there's two others waiting to close you down? Why refuse to run back to your line as soon as you've lost the ball?

What a ding-bat.

Try supporting the purple pricks.

Today's games means that the regular season has now finished.

aleague.PNG

Sydney absolutely smashed it and their first and only loss came in February I think.

Brisbane Roar vs WS Wanderers
Melbourne City vs Perth Glory

Sydney FC & Melbourne Victory get a week off.

The way these play-offs work, as @Tanksie alluded to earlier, is fucking weird...

A Western Sydney win will generate just one outcome, and it is a tantalising one.

As the lowest ranked winner they would play Sydney FC for a place in the grand final.

Should Brisbane Roar prevail, they will be the highest ranked winner, so will face Melbourne Victory.

If Western Sydney win, then either Melbourne City or Perth Glory will be the highest ranked winner and face Melbourne Victory.

So we could have a Sydney derby and Melbourne derby in the semi-finals :o
