6666 Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 I'm sure any agreement includes Wembley still being the home of the national team but I would much rather see the team go back to playing in different parts of the country instead of having one specific home stadium.
Honey Honey Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 When I took a tour of the stadium a few years ago the guide mentioned that structurally it only has a 50 year life span then it has to he knocked down and rebuilt.
Dave Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 The FA’s £600m plan to sell Wembley Stadium will reach a critical stage on Thursday when the full FA Council sees the organisation’s blueprint to change grassroots football in England forever. The 127 members of the council will hear a presentation by the FA's chief executive officer Martin Glenn and chief financial officer Mark Burrows on what Fulham owner Shahid Khan is proposing for the home of English football. Sky Sports News understands that as many as a third of the council members still hold serious reservations over the deal, despite assurances from the FA that all of the £600m will be spent on grassroots projects. A number of presentations have already been held on Tuesday at St George's Park. While the Council does not have the power to halt any deal, one member has told Sky Sports News he believes the FA board would favour a unanimous verdict from the members, but may have to take a majority view. A full Council vote on the proposed sale is expected on October 24.

I work as an asset manager on a site that was built with a 50 year design life 45 years ago. It won't ever be knocked down and rebuilt. That's not how design lives work for the most part.

Administrator Stan Posted October 17, 2018 Administrator Posted October 17, 2018 Shahid Khan has withdrawn the offer to buy Wembley.
The Artful Dodger Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Possibly like Allam when he tried to buy the KC from the council, fit of pique because he isn't getting his way with no questions asked? How dare someone even mull over his money offer.

Khan didn't feel like he had strong enough support from those who were going to vote next week (24th) and as a result, he thought it would be too 'divisive'. Can understand that but now he has to think of a somewhat more attractive proposal to get more support.

There’s that or he looks into other aveneues which present less loopholes and require less work with unfit for purpose organisations like The FA. Land is at a premium in London and I don’t know if he could buy land to build on, whether he’d be better of looking into the Olympic Stadium, ripping it up and starting again or resubmitting a Wembley bid.
Honey Honey Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Khan might have bottled it but he has shown the way to others. The FA willingness to flog Wembley is out there now. Some multi-billionaire from a limited economy is bound to see this "asset" as something to hold.

Read somewhere that he could get The NFL onboard to invest in the bid as part of the relocation of a franchise.
Dave Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Well given I have absolutely no faith in the FA to put all the money in to grass roots football like they've promised I think this is for the best.
