Dave Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 AC Milan have appointed Paolo Maldini as the club's new Sporting Strategy and Development Director. Maldini spent 25 years as a player at AC Milan, winning 26 trophies.
Honey Honey Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Sporting Strategy and Development Director Because what a 5 times Champions League winner needs is a corporate job title that will look good on his CV
ScoRoss Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Seems the definition of a PR move from the new owners.
Eco Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Great legend with a useless title and role. Way to think outside the box.

Depends what they're actually going to get him to do. We have (or had) a similar role as the title suggests and most clubs in Europe will, I'd imagine the role itself is to manage the coaching philosophy and playing styles across the academy teams upto the first team to create a continuity throughout the club on the pitch. Also including looking after reserve/youth players and managing their progression into the first team. Though I don't know much about the owners/people running the club so it could well just be a move to appease fans to get Maldini in somehow or another.
AMG Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Good. Now rename his position to "Manager", and keep Gattuso as his assistant, and we'll be alright.
El Profesor Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 Leonardo tried to take Maldini to PSG when he was there, but Maldini decided to stay in Italy. It seems that Paolo is working pretty hard alongside Leonardo and they´re doing a very good on the transfer market considering Milan´s financial limitations.
ScoRoss Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Maldini and Boban look likely to be on the way out from Milan.
