Our injury list right now....

7 of those players below are guaranteed starters in our eleven, the other 5 would make regular appearances either from the bench or would rotate in the starting line-up....January will not be a pretty month for us.

Mbeumo - 3 months

Toney - 3 weeks

Schade - 1 month minimum, probably longer

Wissa - 1 month, AFCON

Ghoddos - 1 month, Asian Cup

Onyeka - 1 month, AFCON

Jensen - Could just be the next game, could be longer...

Dasilva - Who knows, been out for ages...

Henry - Whole season

Hickey - 1 month minimum, probably longer

Ajer - Who knows, comes back and then gets injured again

Mee - 1 game suspension

Well at least he's not saying 'fuck brent ford' again, in a way.

He's just answered the question asked of him, really a non-issue. If it weren't for the ban he would not be at the club this season, in fact most fans thought he'd be gone in January anyway, the club are open to selling if we get the right bid, Toney is open to leaving if we accept the right bid and the fans know this is our model and it's what's given us success.

This has done the rounds on socials, Neal celebrated a goal recently by holding up a 2 and 1 sign with his hands, you can see him talk about it to the kids in the video. I hope we sign him permanently in the Summer, just gets the club. Plus he has 5 goals and 3 assists this season, would be great if he can break 10+.

Know nothing about him other than he’s Iceland’s first choice keeper at 19, so hopefully he’s decent

Josh Dasilva has suffered another long-term injury that will likely keep him out for the season. Massive setback for us but also for Josh, these injuries just keep coming for him.

Karma for that tackle on Hojbjerg

"Brentford have made more profit in 2 seasons than Man Utd have in 31."

I wonder which one of those clubs will spend £100m+ on squad improvements this summer and which one will continue to live within their means because if they did that they'd violate the *checks notes* profit and sustainability rules. 9_9

Haha it’s not really a surprise tbh, we rarely spend massively and we buy players with a focus for them to succeed over a 5 year period. When we beat Man City twice last season something like 11 of the players involved were with us when we got promoted, 12 of our current squad were with us in the Championship. Even one of our signings, Maupay, was with us then.

It sounds like it should be obvious, but player development and player pathways is a massive factor at the club and it means that because we buy well we don’t need to keep overhauling the squad. Mental really that clubs like Chelsea and United haven’t grasped that.

Yep. Yourselves & Brighton have good models to follow.

We had it for a small period of about 3/4 years, but then decided to shit that all up the wall and move away from it. Now hopefully we start to move back to that model that made us successful.

Staggers me that bigger clubs don't grasp it, like you say. Or at least grasp it consistently and effectively.

With Brentford, if there current recruitment hits a ceiling, you'd trust them to adapt to a different model that works.

It's frustrating for the rest of us but clearly Bloom and Benham's skills were transferable and it's good that there boyhood clubs that were traditionally third/fourth tier are the ones benefitting from it during the time of "There's too much money to break through".

Okay, so we still have 6 of our starting eleven out injured, but we now have a fit Ivan Toney, Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo. Kevin Schade is due to return likely by the weekend on the bench too. The team is looking a lot stronger now and our pace is finally back.

Yehor Yarmoliuk put in his best performance for us yet and hopefully we can get him doing more of the same on Wednesday night. He adds a dynamism in midfield that we don't really get from Norgaard, Janelt and Onyeka who are all quite defensive minded plays. Yarm can seemingly do it both forward and in defence, but clearly wants to be on the attack, in possession trying to attack space. He also seems to have more pace about him than Jensen which is much needed too.

I've not been too confident with us recently, the performances have definitely been there against City, Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea...but we haven't got the results we could have got or deserved. But the United game showcased that we now have some pace back in the team, which is vital to how we play and enough to really break teams on the counter so that we can mix it up and both attack teams and sit back on them. If we can keep these performances up now, I think we'll swerve the relegation fight with ease pretty soon. We have the bones of a really good squad, just need to work out what caused the injury crisis and try to carry on improving the squad in the Summer to get back to trying to push for a Europa Conference spot next season.

There is an incredibly stupid rumour going around a brentford forum, from someone who generally/supposedly gets info from people inside the club….that we are planning a move to Twickenham xD

Honestly what a fucking ridiculous thought, 17250 seater to 60k xD

Not that anybody could have anticipated what has happened, but I think the one thing Matthew Benham probably is critical of himself for is not building a bigger stadium.

I imagine the ideal next step will be something half way to the current stadium and Twickenham with it being a multi purpose stadium for additional revenue.

Honestly it doesn’t seem like it is. In terms of Twickenham I imagine it’d be viewed as a chance to use it once or a few times a year to help build fanbase/provide more opportunities for people to attend. Still mental and will most likely be hated by most of our supporters, not to mention rugby fans.

In terms of the stadium, Benham has always said that stadium and matchday revenue isn’t that important in relation to tv money, and that for most clubs it’s what you do with that money that makes a difference. For example if you look at Liverpool’s income matchday revenue makes up about £80m whereas media made £242m. Obviously £80m isn’t to be sniffed at but once you get below the 60k seater stadiums the matchday revenue drops off a lot and I think at that point it’s about what advantage you can gain from being smart with your money rather than making a little bit more.

The reality is that we could have moved further out into Hounslow and built a 25k-30k stadium with room to expand but the preference was to always stay in Brentford and I think it’s to our advantage, the stadium is packed out most games, the atmosphere is arguably one of the best in the league, especially when we’re up against the big 6. I think you struggle to get that by going bigger, you only have to look at Fulham to see whats happened there. Grand stadium, mix of modern and historic but you never really hear about how the fans create a massive atmosphere. Compare that to not just us but even QPR, smaller ground, can fill it out and create noise. That has to be the preference for going bigger just for more revenue. Look at Anfield, a lot of complaints about the new stands theyve built and the reduction in atmosphere.
