Turning into another nightmare season for them, betting now they finish on zero points.

Even if the speed doesn't matter much here that Ferrari does look very fast.

It's a shame about Williams...

What's up with Haas? Why so few laps so far?

Ferrari almost 2 seconds ahead of the competition. Still hard to tell if the new car is so good, or if it's all down to Sebastian's incredible talent.

Seb with a massive number of laps. Over 200 laps in total for Honda. Overall a good first testing day with no casualties in terms of overheating and blowing up engines. Well except for Williams...

McLaren 2nd on the first test day. I know it doesn't say a lot at this stage, but I'd laugh my ass off if they become proper competitive and Alonso made yet another stupid decision in his career xD

I thought they were back to usual when Sainz lost power exiting the pits today but they were able to sort it out quickly and put in a good number of laps today...  As for speed it must be said that Sainz registered that best time with softer compound tires but at this point their priority surely was testing reliability anyway.

As for Alonso, I don't think it's a stupid decision. McLaren will continue to be a mid-team at best meanwhile Alonso will be working on booking a spot in history books by becoming the second racing driver ever to win the Triple Crown...

Just finished watching testing. Impressive performances from both Mercedes and Ferrari racking up a decent amount of laps. Interesting how Wolff is already playing down his team's chances and switching the focus to Ferrari and their "super-car", the man is a master of words.

Red Bull Racing seemed reliable with the new engine which is exactly what they wanted after so many DNF's, I think Horner hinted that they were running on high fuel/energy, nowhere near race pace.

Some good stints from Alfa Romeo and McLaren as already mentioned. It looked a nightmare for the latter breaking down but they managed to turn things around and get Sainz some track time.

Williams are already mentioned are having a nightmare, Russell and Kubica desperately need track time and everything is pointing them to qualifying at the back come Melbourne regardless of how much George played down the current situation when interviewed.

Not the best start for Renault.

Have you read that post about someone talking to three Williams employees yesterday? Unconfirmed of course but definitely sounded plausible.

Why are Williams in such a mess?

Financial issues is one of the reasons for sure but it seems that the team is has also been struggling internally with bad organisation and poor decisions throughout the years as well.

Yeah...doesn't sound like a functioning team.

Also this today from BBC's Andrew Benson:

If the new car is indeed 2 seconds slower than last year... then surely they shouldn't bother turning up at all.

Jesus, and they won World Championships once :D What a farce. Surely Paddy Lowe is a goner after this fiasco.

Williams dominated the sport for much of the 80s and 90s, and are probably the last "proper" racing team left on the grid that haven't sold out to a manufacturer, or become a highly commercialised conglomerate in their own right like McLaren.

It's sad but it's starting to look like they'll join Lotus, Tyrrell, Jordan, Brabham and the rest on the scrap heap before long. They've had a great run to be fair but if Claire Williams isn't able to emulate what her father was able to do with his ingenuity and that of the people around him, there's no shame in that. We have Haas and Manor to carry the torch for the independent teams I guess xD.

Sky Sports commentary is so boring and annoying. They have been chitchatting for an hour and a half now about things that barely have any relevance to the testing or even the upcoming season. Yesterday's topic seemed to be "would Alonso's potential further involvement with McLaren be a bad influence" and today they shifted to "should there be more standard parts or is it against F1 DNA". Yawn.

Very interested in seeing their times if they manage to get the car ready.
