Administrator Stan Posted June 17, 2019 Administrator Share Posted June 17, 2019 In a supermarket https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48661944 Quote After being held in Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City in the past two seasons, the Carabao Cup first-round draw for the 2019-20 campaign will take place a little closer to home - in a London supermarket. Seventy clubs will discover their first-round opponents when ex-England midfielders John Barnes and Ray Parlour make the draw at the Colindale branch of Morrisons at 19:00 BST on Thursday. It is approximately three miles from Wembley Stadium, where the final will be played on 1 March, 2020. The English Football League's attempt to promote the competition internationally has led to draws taking place in China,Thailand and Vietnamin recent seasons. Huddersfield, who finished bottom of the Premier League in 2018-19, will be involved in this season's first round, while fellow relegated clubs Cardiff and Fulham will enter in the second round. Salford City are due to make their first appearance in the competition after being promoted into the EFL for the first time in May. The 70 teams will be split into northern and southern sections and first-round ties are scheduled to be played during the week commencing 12 August. Holders Manchester City, who beat Chelsea in a penalty shootout in last season's final, will enter at the third-round stage.

Grimsby have got Doncaster which should be a good one. Last time we played them at home, we got thrashed 5-1.
Eco
Portsmouth play today against Birmingham. I'm not expecting really much of anything, but you never know...

Eco
Wow - and now a fight has broken out. Bajrami took down Harrison, to which he responded and started quite the brawl. Yellows cards for both.

Danny
It’s amazing how many pundits and commentators believe that having all eyes on the ball or just making contact with it means it’s not a foul
Eco
Wow - clear penalty missed there which would have given Pompey a chance to go up 3-0.

Eco
Half-time Portsmouth 2-0 Birmingham Fantastic half from Pompey. Could maybe have had 3 goals, but 2 are plently. Match is already getting fiesty so will be interesting to see how this second half goes in terms of who can keep their heads about them.

Eco
And it's over. Nice win against a side in a league above them, but Pompey advance in front of a decent crowd.
