Subscriber Dan+ Posted September 24, 2019 Subscriber Posted September 24, 2019 I predict we're on +1 in two games time. Wolves' total is absolutely mad.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted October 3, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted October 3, 2019 New standings: Everton +4 Crystal Palace +3 Newcastle / Bournemouth / Chelsea / Man Utd / Liverpool / West Ham / Leicester +2 Burnley +1 Brighton +0 Southampton / Man City -2 Tottenham / Arsenal -4 Watford / Wolves -8 Summary: - No change for Liverpool, Burnley or Crystal Palace as they faced newly-promoted opposition. - Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City repeated their wins over Brighton, Southampton and Everton respectively, while Man Utd and Arsenal draw again at Old Trafford, meaning no change for any of these sides either. - Bournemouth drop 2 points as they are unable to repeat last season's win over West Ham, the Hammers gain a point and join their opponents in a large group of teams scoring +2. - Wolves manage to drag back some of the damage done to them in the early fixtures, beating Watford at home in a game they lost last season and improving their score by 3 points. In doing so they also drag the Hornets down by three points to join them at the bottom of the table on -8 points each. - Leicester are the other team to achieve a 3 point swing this weekend, smashing Newcastle 5-0 to make amends for their defeat to last season's Rafa Benitez iteration. This knocks Newcastle off the top and takes Leicester into a positive differential, both teams now sitting on +2 for the season. - Everton are left at the top of the pile, surprisingly, courtesy of the fact that their two defeats against newly-promoted opponents count for nothing in these standings. This weekend, several teams defending some tricky points: Brighton vs Tottenham (away win last season) Burnley vs Everton (away win last season) Liverpool vs Leicester (draw last season) West Ham vs Crystal Palace (home win last season) Arsenal vs Bournemouth (home win last season) Man City vs Wolves (home win last season) Southampton vs Chelsea (away win last season) Newcastle vs Man Utd (away win last season) One extra game to track this week as Aston Villa and Norwich play each other. Watford will stay on -8 for one more week at least as they face Sheffield United and their score won't change. Crystal Palace have a great chance to go top this week as they have no points to replicate from last season and leaders Everton need to repeat a win at Turf Moor.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted October 6, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted October 6, 2019 A lot of changes this weekend - new standings: Crystal Palace +6 Newcastle +5 Liverpool / Burnley +4 Brighton +3 Bournemouth / Chelsea +2 Everton / Leicester +1 Man Utd / West Ham -1 Southampton -2 Arsenal -4 Man City / Wolves -5 Tottenham -7 Watford -8 - No change for Watford as they faced Sheffield United this week. - Elsewhere, there were very few repeated results this weekend. Only Arsenal and Chelsea beating Bournemouth and Southampton respectively matched last season's outcomes, so no change in any of their scores. - Brighton picked up the first three point swing of the weekend, beating Spurs to add 3 points to their differential. Poch's men drop to a dismal -7 points as a result and slip to second from bottom in this table. - Burnley also add a big +3 to their score, moving them into joint 3rd, while Everton's failure to repeat their win at Turf Moor sees them plummet from top of the pile to mid-table mediocrity. - Liverpool convert on their second opportunity to gain points compared to last season, bagging the win at home to Leicester that eluded them last season and gaining two points. The Foxes drop a point. - Ayew's late winner for Palace sees them soar to the top of the table with a +6 differential. West Ham lose the three points they took against Palace last season and their score drops below 0. - Wolves' recovery continues with a shock win at the Etihad that there was no sign of last season. For the second week running the -3 they inflict upon their opponents drags them level with Wolves in the standings. - Newcastle rounded off the weekend with another big fat +3, taking them back up to 2nd in the table and sending Solskjaer's Man Utd back into the negatives.
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted October 8, 2019 Subscriber Posted October 8, 2019 Mad to think that people are asking for Silva's head considering Everton are actually a point better for their troubles from last season. City and Arsenal probably had better runs later in the season. I know its true for the former but can't remember the latter and their run in towards the end.

I think it also depends on how Everton did against the sides who were relegated? As they've lost points to sides that weren't in the league last season - which isn't really reflected on the point differential tracker this season. I can understand why Everton fans are applying some pressure on Silva given that they made decent investment, had a strong end to the season, and they're in the relegation zone after 8 matches.

I agree with the part about winning more games against relegated sides. What we've also got to consider is how terrible the rest of the pack are down the pecking order putting Everton in the position they are in also. Last season everyone was supposedly doing better going by the differentials so its like saying we're all shit now so it looks bad but give it post Xmas and then the table will start to get more concrete.

Yeah that's true too
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted October 8, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted October 8, 2019 Yeah the main reasons we have a positive differential are that we only got one point at home to Watford and Wolves combined last season which are the only games we've won and it doesn't take into account games against newly promoted sides of which we've lost two.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted October 22, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted October 22, 2019 Updated standings: Crystal Palace +6 Newcastle +5 Liverpool / Everton +4 Burnley / Brighton / Leicester +3 Bournemouth / Chelsea +2 Man Utd / Southampton -1 West Ham / Arsenal -4 Man City -5 Wolves / Watford -7 Tottenham -9 Nine games into the season and we're starting to see some actual representative data now, particularly at the bottom end. - Everton started the weekend by gaining 3 points at home to West Ham that they didn't gain last season, moving the Toffees to joint 3rd and the Hammers onto -4. - Bournemouth and Brighton see no change to their scores after facing Norwich and Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon. - Chelsea repeated last season's win at home to Newcastle, meaning that neither side sees their score change, and leaving Newcastle in 2nd place with a differential of +5. - Leicester were the second team this weekend to gain some points, having drawn at home to Burnley last season. This moves both teams up/down to +3. - Tottenham's draw with Watford sees them plummet to the bottom of the table with a dismal -9 points. This was a game they won last season, and Watford's point slightly improves their score to -7. - Wolves' recovery in recent weeks was stunted on Saturday when they failed to emulate last season's win over Southampton. This drops them back down to -7 points, while Southampton move up to -1. - Man City repeat their win at Selhurst Park, preventing their score from slipping any further below its current -5. Palace stay on top of the table with that defeat doing no damage to their differential score. - Man Utd and Liverpool repeat their Old Trafford stalemate from last season meaning no change for either of those. - Arsenal's loss to Sheffield United does them no further damage with no corresponding result to compare against from last season.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted October 22, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted October 22, 2019 Looking forward to this weekend: Friday Southampton v Leicester - an away win for Leicester last season so a test to see whether they can maintain their score of +3. Saturday Man City v Aston Villa - no opportunity for Man City to improve their score as they face newly-promoted opposition. Brighton v Everton - Brighton won this by a single goal last season so have three points to defend here. Everton could go top if they win this one and other results go in their favour. Watford v Bournemouth - A 4-0 hammering in the visitors' favour last season. Opportunity for Watford to improve on their differential of -7. West Ham v Sheffield Utd - No change for West Ham this weekend who are guaranteed to stay on -4. Burnley v Chelsea - Another 4-0 away win last season. Possible chance for Burnley to scrape an extra point or three that they missed out on last season. Sunday Newcastle v Wolves - Yet another away win last season. If Bruce's men can do the business here they'll move onto a whopping differential of +8. Arsenal v Crystal Palace - A real challenge for Palace to stay top of the differential table as they won this fixture 3-2 last season. Arsenal will be eyeing the three point swing here. Liverpool v Tottenham - A freebie this week for basement boys Spurs, who lost at Anfield last season and therefore can't take a further hit to their differential of -9. Norwich v Man Utd - United will sit on their -1 for another week with no Norwich away to compare to from last season. Expect a lot of movement this week.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted October 22, 2019 Subscriber Posted October 22, 2019 We've won our last two at Southampton. There was a stat at some point that we'd won more games at St Marys over that time period than they had.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted October 27, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted October 27, 2019 - No change for Man City, West Ham or Man Utd as they played newly promoted sides. - Repeated results from last season: Leicester's win at Southampton, Brighton's win over Everton, Chelsea's win at Burnley, Liverpool's win over Tottenham. No change in score for these eight teams. - Watford gain a point and Bournemouth lose two as they are unable to repeat last season's win at Vicarage Road. - Newcastle's draw with Wolves gains them a point and sends them top of the standings. Wolves lose two points in a fixture they won last season, and drop back to joint bottom of this table. - Arsenal gain a point despite only drawing with Palace. Hodgson's men are knocked off the top of this table after failing to repeat their win at the Emirates last season. - Not a single team gained or lost 3 points this weekend. New standings: Newcastle +6 Crystal Palace / Liverpool / Everton +4 Burnley / Brighton / Leicester +3 Chelsea +2 Bournemouth +0 Man Utd / Southampton -1 Arsenal -3 West Ham -4 Man City -5 Watford -6 Wolves / Tottenham -9 It's still odd to see Newcastle and Everton so high up when most would say they've been worse than last season. This is a reflection of an odd coincidence where both teams have started the season with a lot of the fixtures where they struggled last season. Wolves have been slightly unlucky in that they've started this season with many of the games that would be considered their best results last season. While things will even out for those sides later in the season, Tottenham's score of -9 is a more accurate reflection of their performances relative to last season, along with Watford. Liverpool's overall 9 point swing in their favour over Man City also cannot be ignored given the 1 point margin between the two sides at the end of last season, especially as we move into the second quarter of the season.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted October 27, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted October 27, 2019 Next set of fixtures: Saturday Bournemouth v Man Utd - an away win last season. Bournemouth will look at this as a chance to improve while the pressure is on Solskjaer not to slip further into a negative points differential. Arsenal v Wolves - drawn last season. An Arsenal win would see Wolves slip into negative double figures. Aston Villa v Liverpool - Liverpool guaranteed to stay on +4 with no visit to Villa Park to compare to from last season. Brighton v Norwich - no change for Brighton either this weekend with a newly promoted opponent in their way. Man City v Southampton - more a matter of whether City can put six past Saints again this season as another home win here looks a sure banker. Sheff Utd v Burnley - Burnley to stay on their very respectable score of +3 regardless of what happens here. West Ham v Newcastle - a freebie for the leaders here who were defeated at the London Stadium last season. Watford v Chelsea - pressure on the visitors to repeat their win from last season, while Watford at least know that their score of -6 can't get any worse this week. Sunday Crystal Palace v Leicester - two of our high flyers go head to head. It's Palace who have everything to lose here having taken the 3 points last season. Everton v Tottenham - more gloom for Spurs who will stay on -9 points even if they manage to win at Goodison again on Sunday. Worst case scenario for Everton is a loss that would keep them on +4 for another week.
Administrator Stan Posted October 27, 2019 Administrator Posted October 27, 2019 We've got a shite record at Palace. Wouldn't surprise me if it stayed same as last season.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted October 29, 2019 Subscriber Posted October 29, 2019 Everton losing to two newly promoted sides is quite significant though. At this point newly promoted teams will skew perception. Newcastle's is very weird. They've scraped two really impressive and unexpected wins, been destroyed by us where they won last year, but offset it by drawing three mediocre home games that they lost last year. I've little doubt theirs will drop.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 3, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted November 3, 2019 Newcastle about to become runaway leaders in this .
Subscriber Dan+ Posted November 4, 2019 Subscriber Posted November 4, 2019 Another 3 up for us. Great stuff.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 4, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted November 4, 2019 Newcastle +9 Leicester +6 Everton +5 Liverpool +4 Burnley / Brighton / Bournemouth +3 Chelsea +2 Crystal Palace +1 Southampton -1 Arsenal -3 Man Utd -4 Man City -5 Watford -6 West Ham -7 Wolves -9 Tottenham -11 What happened this week? - Nothing happened to Liverpool, Brighton or Burnley who faced newly-promoted opposition. - Arsenal's draw with Wolves, Man City's win over Southampton and Chelsea's win at Watford are all repeated results from last season so no change for any of those six teams. - Bournemouth kicked off the weekend by bagging a +3, beating Man United in a game the visitors won last season. Bournemouth join a few other teams on +3 overall while Man Utd plummet much further into the negatives. - Newcastle were the other team to secure a three point swing on Saturday. Already leading these standings, the three points gained at West Ham moves them up to +9, while the Hammers have suddenly plummeted onto -7 and are at risk of joining the real bottom feeders. - Sunday saw Leicester secure the third +3 swing of the weekend with their victory at Palace. They move up to 2nd to continue their strong momentum while former leaders Crystal Palace are now only a single point ahead of their equivalent results last season. - Finally, Goodison Park saw the only minor swing of the weekend as Spurs were unable to repeat their 6-2 hammering of Everton, or any victory at all. This sees Everton sneak into 3rd place on +5 while Tottenham's negative score moves into double figures at the bottom of the table.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 4, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted November 4, 2019 Next week's fixtures: Friday Norwich vs Watford - no opportunity for Watford to improve on their score of -6 this week even if they bag their first league win of the season. Saturday Chelsea vs Crystal Palace - the pressure on Lampard's men again here as they look to repeat last season's win over Palace. At worst, Palace won't see their score drop any further below +1 for at least another week. Burnley vs West Ham - the tie of the weekend surely? Burnley won this last season so West Ham can at least be secure in the knowledge that things can't get any worse than -7 for another week. Burnley have been quietly doing solid business in these standings so far but will be unable to improve on +3 this week. Newcastle vs Bournemouth - a home win last season, so the pressure is on Newcastle this time if they want to maintain their impressive score of +9. An away win for Bournemouth would leave both teams on a score of +6. Southampton vs Everton - somehow this is yet another game that Everton lost last season, so they will still be floating there or thereabouts at the top of these standings for another week, even though a loss could see them drop into the relegation zone in the actual table. Definitely the biggest anomaly left at this stage. Tottenham vs Sheffield United - misery for Spurs who are guaranteed to sit on -11 for another week. Leicester vs Arsenal - Leicester will be unable to improve on their +6 this weekend as they smashed their opponents 3-0 back in April in this fixture. If Arsenal can secure what looks like an unlikely win they will reset their score to exactly 0. Sunday Man United vs Brighton - the hosts took a 2-1 win here last season, so no good news for them as even a repeat win will leave them on -4. Brighton have an opportunity to improve on their already respectable +3. Wolves vs Aston Villa - this Midlands derby holds no interest for us in this thread as Wolves have no Villa home result to compare to from last season. Liverpool vs Man City - a 0-0 draw at Anfield last season gives both teams a rare opportunity to boost their score in these standings. If Liverpool win and other results go in a certain direction they could find themselves on a score of +6 and joint top by the end of the weekend. Not bad if they become the joint most improved side so far having already bagged nearly 100 points last season.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 10, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted November 10, 2019 An exceedingly boring weekend here. Here are the updated standings: Newcastle +9 Everton +8 Leicester / Liverpool +6 Burnley / Brighton / Bournemouth +3 Chelsea +2 Crystal Palace +1 Arsenal -3 Southampton / Man Utd -4 Man City / Watford -6 West Ham -7 Wolves -9 Tottenham -11 - No changes this week for Watford, Tottenham or Wolves as they faced newly-promoted sides. - Most other results repeated this weekend. Chelsea, Burnley, Newcastle and Leicester all repeated home wins from last season on Saturday, against Crystal Palace, West Ham, Bournemouth and Arsenal respectively. Sunday saw Manchester United join this list with a 3-1 win over Brighton, so there are a total of 13 teams who see no change this week. - The only full three-point swing came on Saturday, as Everton made amends for their defeat at St. Mary's last season, boosting their score here to +8, while Saints join Man Utd on -4. - Sunday's big game saw the only other shift take place as Liverpool upgraded their home draw with Man City from last season to a victory, gaining two more points in this table. City drop to -6 along with Watford and find themselves deep in the mire with a number of the sides who have drawn a lot of criticism for going backwards since last season. So Liverpool have established a 12 point swing over Man City compared to last season, where they finished one point behind the champions. The signs are good for Klopp's men in this season's title race. Everton continue to act as a total anomaly with a differential of +8 flattering their distinctly average start to the campaign.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 10, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted November 10, 2019 Coming up after the international break: Saturday West Ham vs Tottenham - No respite for Tottenham here as only a win here to match last season will prevent their score from slipping further below -11. A chance for West Ham to gain a point or three to climb out of the bottom three. Bournemouth vs Wolves - A draw last season. Bournemouth could get themselves in the mix at the top of these standings with a win that would take them onto +5. Arsenal vs Southampton - A home win for Arsenal last season, meaning that they will be unable to improve on their current score on -3. A draw for Southampton would be enough for them to leapfrog their opponents here. Brighton vs Leicester - Last season's draw offers both sides the opportunity to improve on their already comfortably positive differential score. Leicester especially can edge closer to the top if they can continue their good form with a win here. Crystal Palace vs Liverpool - No further opportunity for Liverpool to improve on their +6 here as they are under pressure to repeat last season's win. Palace have a chance to move themselves back towards the sharp end of the table. Everton vs Norwich - The Toffees are guaranteed to stay on +8 for another week with no corresponding fixture to compare to from last season. Watford vs Burnley - A 0-0 draw last term, Watford will be looking for a home win here to move them back towards achieving a positive differential. A Burnley win would take them to the heady heights of +5. Man City vs Chelsea - A memorable 6-0 win for the hosts last season. In-form Chelsea could deal more damage to Pep's men if City can't repeat at least the result from last year. The visitors could put themselves really in the mix with an away win here, which would boost them to +5 and consign City to a score of -9. Sunday Sheffield United vs Man United - No change for Solskjaer's men here as they visit newly-promoted Sheffield United. Monday Aston Villa vs Newcastle - No interest here either as Newcastle face the third and final newly-promoted side of the weekend.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted November 12, 2019 Subscriber Posted November 12, 2019 Newcastle's is really quite funny.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 24, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted November 24, 2019 Updated Standings: Newcastle +9 Everton / Leicester +8 Liverpool +6 Burnley +5 Brighton / Bournemouth / Chelsea +2 Crystal Palace +1 Southampton -3 Man Utd -4 Arsenal -5 Man City -6 Watford / West Ham / Wolves -7 Tottenham -11 - No change for those who faced the three promoted sides (Everton, Man Utd and Newcastle). - Spurs win at West Ham, Liverpool's win at Palace and City's win over Chelsea are all repeated results from last season. - Wolves turn their draw at Bournemouth from last season into a win to gain two points. - Arsenal are leapfrogged by Southampton after failing to repeat their win over the Saints from last season. - Leicester continue their climb to the top by turning last season's draw at Brighton into a win. - Burnley also turn an away draw into a victory and thus move onto a very impressive +5 while Watford slip back down to -7.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted November 24, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted November 24, 2019 Next week's fixtures and how they turned out last season: Newcastle vs Man City (home win) Burnley vs Crystal Palace (away win) Chelsea vs West Ham (home win) Liverpool vs Brighton (home win) Tottenham vs Bournemouth (home win) Southampton vs Watford (draw) Norwich vs Arsenal (N/A) Wolves vs Sheffield Utd (N/A) Leicester vs Everton (away win) Man Utd vs Aston Villa (N/A) Expect to see Leicester emerge with a commanding lead in 7 days' time. A win over Everton would put them onto +11, and knock their opponents down to +5, while Newcastle will have to repeat their win over Man City just to stay on +9, a tall order. Next contenders Liverpool have no opportunity to improve their score this week, though Burnley could get themselves up to +8 with a home win over Crystal Palace. At the other end, Spurs will be stuck on -11 at best for another week. Wolves are also stuck on -7 as they face a newly-promoted opponent, while Watford and West Ham at least have the opportunity to improve their scores, even if they face uphill battles on their travels.
