I don’t think I buy into the stuff about the bloke in Russia too much. I mean it depends on what sort of advice he’s receiving. For example it couldn’t be empirical, sort of advice most forward thinking managers receive in game these days.

Next season will be a big one for Gerrard, these signings will mean they need to be achieving a top 6 finish which will be difficult I think. Can see a strong top 6 next season

I think Mane and Salah would be mad to leave, playing under Klopp is a generational success.

Only two of those players will likely play at right back though, Walker will be a centre back and Trippier most likely left back if we go to a back four which provides more centre back cover as he did in the Euros. The thing with Maddison though is that he has a lot of competition ahead of him. Southgate is a lot of things but he’s fair and also pragmatic. If you look at creators in the midfield that are less work horsey then you’ve got Foden, Grealish and Mount. Away from them we’ve also got Bellingham and Ward-Prowse who will play a slightly different role but still offer much of the same. I feel for Maddison but I think there’s always a logic to what Southgate does and if a player who seems to deserve a call up doesn’t get it it’s not cos Southgate doesn’t rate them, it’s probably because he balances out the type of players he will call up and he’s already called up a few players similar to Maddison.

Looking at the LWB’s there I dont see why Rico Henry doesn’t make the squad. But Southgate does like flexibility in players and Justin can play both wings

That squad screams 2 man midfield which is why I can see Maddison not getting in.

Mate he’s been the manager of Ajax this season, he will not have done enough research to fully know the capabilities of the players and who will be of use to him. Plus he’s not going to alienate the entire squad by saying yeah I know who’s getting the boot.

People who have no idea what salbutamol is are talking a lot of nonsense about it. A quick google can quite easily clear up misconceptions. ”It’s banned in cycling”. Yes taking 800grams of it over a 12 hour period is banned. That is essentially the equivalent of 8 puffs of your inhaler twice a day, a GP will tell you that you are not meant to use it more than twice a week otherwise you will need an asthma review. The limit is set at 800mgs per 12 hours at maximum because that is what manufacturers state the highest usage of the inhaler should be. If you are using it at this level it is to prevent short term sudden shortness of breathe and you are essentially at risk of an asthma attack and your asthma needs to be better managed. Furthermore some quick Googling will show you that asthma is much more prevalent amongst long distance athletes, another quick check shows that at one point 70% of the British Swimming team were found to have some form of asthma.
