I was dealing with one having its head-shield when you do the whole machine gun charge thing despite me feeling like I’d done what I was always doing before. But I think my left Joycon’s wonky stick drift was just fucking my aim up really bad. Because after doing it about 20 times I finally got it to kill him like it killed the rest of them. But only after I noticed when I let go of my left stick Samus was suddenly stairing straight up, so I calibrated the joycon and tried again was just like “wow I’m a fucking idiot” The stealth/horror aspect of it is really cool. The way that you have to kill them is cool, but repetitive… why the hell was my stick drift so bad though?

I think I like all of Metroid Dread… except I really hate anything related to the EMMIs. I thought it was a cool concept at first… but they are incredibly frustrating sequences. The boss fights on the other hand are absolutely brilliant *edit* this was written after a particular frustrating moment in the game for me. Now that I’m passed it I don’t feel the same way

It’s basmati rice with tadig (which is like crispy rice, I used bread as a base for the crispness because I’m lazy but if you want to go full autentico, you just use rice), then some chicken that I breaded and fried. So I googled this, because I remember learning when Texas required both to be taught in schools. But that's an older law. They used to require both evolution and creationism both taught at schools not too long ago. Numerous court cases later and nowadays Texas educators can now leave creationism off the curriculum. Most of their schools don't teach creationism, but schools can teach it if they want to - but they have to also teach evolution as well (so probably religious schools do teach it). It's crazy they teach shit from the bible in biology lessons though, even if most teachers don't, the fact that some of them do... and the state was once required to teach both in biology is... it's just bizarre Makes me wonder what the fuck is going on in other states... because Texas is actually pretty close to evenly split between its right wing and its left wing - so I imagine there's far more backwards states out there that want to have far more backwards educational platforms.

There are lots of instances where I think people in the US (and honestly, not just the US - the UK too, but probably all around the world) should learn "both sides" of "the story." But not the fucking Holocaust, where we've got so much factual proof it happened and the best arguments made for Holocaust denial usually amount to: "yOu BeLiEvE tHe JeWs?! tHeY rUn tHe WoRlD!!!!! iT iS jEw LiEs!" like that dumb vegan Nazi cunt Kel. We shouldn't hold blind bigotry as having the same weight as factual evidence - Texas (or this administrator - I dunno how this law/directive works) is playing with fire here. Teaching conspiratorial bigoted bullshit as though it's worthy of being taught in an academic environment is how you end up with a bunch of dangerous and radical extremists in future generations.

Is this a law or just what this one Texas school administrator is interpreting the law to mean? Because the Holocaust isn't a controversial topic from the point of view of educators or academics. I can't say I'm surprised though. Doesn't Texas make it so evolution must also be taught in tandem with creationism? And I don't think they're the only state with that requirement. The American right has decided to take a pretty anti-academic approach to education - I think it's dangerous and scary tbh. If this is an actual law and not just a faulty interpretation of a woman who will shortly be replaced in her job... it doesn't bode well for hoping that the next generation of Texans don't have an alarming number of radical extremists within their ranks.

Very sad. Killing someone over their politics is mental. Since 1812 there have been 9 political assassinations in the UK. 2 of them are in the last 5 years. Obviously the stabber here, just like Jo Cox’s killer, is a nutter… but is this a result of political discourse and rhetoric getting more and more partisan and incendiary? 2 political assassinations in 5 years is a bit of a worrying trend… certainly does not bode well for if times get more uneasy than they are now.

I thought Chelsea didn't have any objections? I think it's stupid their concern was mostly over the new competition instead of taking the stance of: "hey we might all be a bunch of billionaire dickheads, but we're not responsible for rampant human rights violations" (although City taking that stance would be funny as fuck).. . which maybe would have gained more traction. Instead it looks like "we're billionaire dickheads and we're scared of this richer billionaire dickhead."

I hope they get relegated and have to try to build into being Man City from the championship. Rodgers to be found sawed up and in pieces in various parts of Leicester soon?

I was a big Left 4 Dead fan years ago while that game was still popular. So a few weeks ago when I saw I could pre-download Back 4 Blood (the spiritual successor made by the same development team) before it's release yesterday... I definitely did. And after getting home from work and playing a bit of Metroid, I fired that up to play with some friends. Very good game if you like that sort of zombie survival co-op shooter (I'm a sucker for coop Zombie games, I think it's a part of why I like COD so much... but this style is more fun).

I think for the elderly, boosters should be given. But the general population at large? I'm not so sure - at least not until vaccines can be distributed to other parts of the world and we get get the worldwide numbers of vaccinated much higher... but I doubt western countries will go for putting other countries ahead of them.

I think England is probably going to be the peak of Southgate's managerial career. Tbh, I don't think he's a great tactician or anything, I think that's his biggest weakness... and in top flight club football, I think that's a considerable flaw to have in a manager - even though I think he's done a number of things right as England manager. I think Lampard's a bit of a weird choice too. He seemed to do better at Chelsea when he was completely unable to make changes to the squad and once he spent money it felt as though he wasn't quite sure how to get the best out of the squad he assembled. I think if they can get someone like Rodgers in, up until they're around CL qualifying positions or around then... and then look for someone who can turn the corner (assuming Rodgers doesn't eventually learn how to turn the corner himself) I think that would be their best bet.

Metroid Dread is pretty great

Looking likely that boosters are now going to be available to everyone here pretty soon. I think there's a bit of an ethical dilemma here in that: I would be totally fine with getting a booster and having a bit more protection from the virus - but I don't really think it's right that a country that's got so much vaccine skepticism is getting its booster jabs ahead of so many countries where demand for the vaccine is sky high and so many people haven't had their first or second jabs. Strikes me as wrong when it's a global pandemic and people should be getting the vaccine worldwide to really limit the spread of the disease and bring us back to normal ASAP.
