which direction was it in? Download the app called Stellarium. All you have to do is point your phone up to the sky and it'll tell you which stars are visible, galaxies you could see (not with the naked eye, mind), constellations or bright stars. If it was a planet, it could be Venus as it has a blue shade to it. If it was Mars it'd have a reddish hue.
