  1. True, I guess it just adds to the lack of clarity. Perhaps the wording should have been 'household' and not just friends. Not everyone who lives in the same house is just family... I find it ironic that they've said we need to 'control the virus', and while I appreciate all the new rules (from Weds) about going to parks/beaches etc still have the social distancing aspect in place too, it just heightens the risk for the virus to spread, I think. It goes back to @Danny's point earlier about putting the onus on the public. That should be the case anyway to an extent but at the same time, it needs clear messages from the government too.
  2. This gives me a lot of hope I may be able to see my missus soon...
  3. Seems like it. Only thing I can think of for what she's trying to say is that Boris can't just use Wales as and when he wants, on the back of him making an announcement that only seems to suit England. And also on the back of the devolved nations (I do not like that term!) continuing with the 'stay at home' message earlier today (correctly, in my opinion).
  4. And also use it as an example for blaming the public, not the government, is what the cynic in me is saying...
  5. Already been 'leaked' (?), some of them... Still find it mad you can 'meet' friends in a park but we've been given no guidance about seeing family in differrent households. Maybe that will come tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath...
  6. I love your passive aggressive style @Bluewolf. Love it
  7. Yep! Fuck knows. 'Actively encouraged' to go back to work if you can't work from home but say for instance, you're a shop worker. How can you go back to work when some shops won't open til July in the shitty diagram he put up ? And he said construction workers/manufacturing workers can go back to work but still employ social distancing. But given what we've heard about @Carnivore Chris's examples, it's physically impossible and you're going to be mixing with other households. But you're not allowed to go and see your family in a different household. Load of bollocks from Boris and so much confusion has arisen out of it. For all the fist-pumping, table-banging, tone-raising and for all the words he spoke, he didn't really tell us anything... Yes! I thought this too ! Just goes to show his team around him are probably fucking stupid as he is. How they've not sussed that the message didn't really provide any clarity is beyond me. I'd say the best thing to come out of it (if it's worth holding on to anything' is the 1-5 rating. But that's about it!
  8. Yeah similar to me with the first bit. My bro, sis in law and niece live about 2 mins drive. Seen them once or twice for shopping deliveries. Tied it in with giving my brother and niece their birthday stuff too. Felt so weird just standing from their door and not being able to hug them. No idea about enforcing that example you say. Depends likelihood of getting caught? And if you were to be stopped, what would you tell police? They'd say 2 hours is probably too much and then you'd be no better than Kyle Walker
  9. Mate the moment they say partners from different households can visit each other, and if they don't state distance limits, I'm off to see my missus! Not seen in her nearly 2 months and it's very difficult for us, no matter how much we've got used to it. Half-expecting @Bluewolf to say cherish the time without each other as the other alternative it to spend all day and every day with them

    Happy birthday @Dan
  11. From BBC about Belgium, but also hints UK may follow suit?
  12. Apparently Scotland & Wales have chosen not to take on the 'Stay Alert' thing though and have stuck with the 'Stay at Home' slogan.
  13. Take heed and remember to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge the fuck out of this virus!
  14. In here. Some of the news wasn't 'breaking' as such so thought I'd change it. Basically any other news in here, breaking or not, that doesn't warrant a topic.
  15. Save it for that time, then. At the moment, and it's not been confirmed, but the rumours are that the only things that can open are garden centres, waste recycling centres and libraries. However, the same kinds of thing applies if you were going out to do your shopping - only travel if essential, and once you've got to where you need to be (i.e. supermarkets, GPs, hospitals etc) maintain the social distancing, be safe, wash your hands etc etc. Nothing has fundamentally changed. The 'stay alert' just screams of attention-seeking from the government 'look at us, we're doing something'.
  16. In addition to the above, according to Jenrick it's business as usual by this explanation... Appearing on the BBC's Andrew Marr Show, Mr Jenrick said: "Stay alert will mean stay alert by staying home as much as possible, but stay alert when you do go out by maintaining social distancing, washing your hands, respecting others in the workplace and the other settings that you'll go to." So nothing has changed. Literally nothing barring the PR brand-update of the slogan for absolutely fuck all reason.
  17. So, in order to clarify the new 'stay alert' message, this is what one of the government ministers, Robert Jenrick, had to say. 'stay alert will mean staying alert while staying at home as much as possible'.
  18. I know I've had some debate with Chris but I do sympathise with his position. I can't bear to think what it's like in that situation not working or earning for that long when that's what you've have been used to for years on end. I'm surprised he's not eligible for any kind of assistance at all as that's not what the advice we have been given but obviously don't know all of his circumstances. @Carnivore Chris I don't want you to think I'm just ignoring that bit of your situation, especially the MH bit and I don't ever want to downplay that, so in advance apologies if it does come acoss like that.
  19. This new slogan government have thought of is absolutely bollocks though. They've taken the 'stay at home' message out and replaced it with 'stay alert' what the fuck does that even mean? Gives cretins and idiots the excuse to go out or do what they want by saying 'I'm staying alert it's fine!'. How do they think the public will abide by lockdown rules by taking the most direct and definitive instruction out of the slogan that had become so synonymous with everyone for the past 6-7 weeks?! It's utterly baffling. Stay alert is too ambiguous and too wishy-washy compared to the clear 'stay at home' directive.
