Be amazed if we shift all the deadwood this window. I'm not getting too carried away with this summer, with big question marks over the permanent deals for Gomes and Zouma and a lot of talk about Gueye moving on, we'll do well to start next season with a stronger squad than the one that finished this one. Two years from now we will have got rid of the Mirallas, Sandro, Bolasie cohort at last and we'll have finished paying off Koeman, Allardyce, Klaassen and all those other residual partial wages we're paying, then we can start getting excited about transfer windows and improving the squad with the money we have being the only thing we have to worry about. I'd rather we were conservative with this summer's overhaul. Hopefully Baines does another year and saves us a transfer this summer. Stekelenburg can go if we have Lossl lined up on a free transfer to come in as a number 2 goalkeeper. Right back we can get by on Coleman and Kenny for one more year. Centre back we need to get Zouma or someone else, unless we're happy to keep Jags as 4th choice and Holgate as the first backup after Keane and Mina. We need Gomes or someone similar in midfield. Two if Gueye leaves and three if Schneiderlin also leaves. We could do with another winger if Lookman isn't going to settle and get a run in the team. I'd like to see Vlasic given a chance as Sigurdssons competition. Signing a striker is absolutely essential. Realistically, we should be selling Stekelenburg, Bolasie, Besic, Sandro, Mirallas, Tosun, Niasse. They're probably mostly close enough to the end of their contracts now that someone might actually sniff around this summer.

I think the main complaints are how did she not see them with such a sight advantage of being up in the air, and why wasn't she conscious of the fact that her enemy's biggest ally has a massive bastard fleet when they were approaching the entrance to Blackwater Bay which is the likely area to find said fleet. Legitimate beef for me.

Kyrgios has always, and will always, be better at getting attention for chatting absolute garbage than actually being good at tennis. Not even reading that interview because I can already imagine what it will say. He's a cunt and a laughing stock and has been since day one.

Ah, to be honest I've just waded in on this one a bit late to the party and just seen a load of aggressive fully formed opinions and can't really be arsed getting involved. Watched the video once and couldn't properly make out what they were saying. My overall takeaway is regardless of how offensive it was it's weird to see title winning players chanting about another team. It would sort of be understandable if it was United they were chanting about having just denied them the league but City and Liverpool shouldn't really spark that sort of reaction.
-
I'm not saying it's a justification but there's a difference between singing about a non-fatal incident and a fatal one.
-
Evertonians only consider them 'friends' though it's not the word I'd use as a mechanic to wind up Reds if they've beaten them or denied them a trophy. After Liverpool, Man Utd are far and away the most hated club amongst our fanbase. City I don't think anyone's really arsed about either way but they're an odious oil club which have next to nothing to do with Manchester aside from the location. I do agree with your sentiments though.

Just seen the chanting thing on Twitter. Apparently they've been singing it all season in relation to Liverpool losing the final in Kiev while they won two trophies. The battered in the streets bit seems in poor taste but nothing to do with Sean Cox like some people are apparently making out. It's weird that City even sing songs about Liverpool because they don't have a rivalry amongst the fanbases and even more weird for the players to imitate it, but then footballers are stupid. Who knows.

Yeah just stay off the entire forum until you've seen it .

I can't believe this is even being discussed. Pogba has a shit attitude and everyone knows it. He's more interested in furthering his image than performing for his team, everyone can see that as well. The Sanchez comparison is a valid one but who gives a shit about criticising him because there's no debate to be had there. Nobody cares about Sanchez, he doesn't play, he doesn't blow his own trumpet on social media, he doesn't do anything to draw attention, he is simply forgotten, not because he isn't black. Pogba is constantly putting himself at the forefront of the media by being the walking embodiment of what Manchester United have become. Most expensive player, highest paid player, constantly appearing in adverts and making daft social media posts, stupid hairstyles, stupid celebrations. I'd put a decent bet on the fact that he has someone analysing the social media reactions to his celebrations to find out which one gets him the most publicity so he can stick to it in future and get it programmed into the next version of FIFA. The worst thing about Pogba is that he actually has immense quality and shows it when he can actually concentrate on his performance for an extended period of time, like he did during Ole's honeymoon period. Sanchez, on the other hand, has just turned into a shit player whereas with Pogba it's just so obvious he could play much better if he tried. But if all of that isn't enough reason then fine, maybe it is because he's black.

"AlLaRdYcE dId WeLl WhAt Do EvErToN fAnS wAnT". Good step in the right direction this season, onto better things next season.

Finished 1-0, so that caps off a great season for the under 23s. The quality of the game wasn't amazing, especially in the second half. Boaler looks an exciting talent, needs to work on his decision making though.
-
Hopefully that doesn't fuck up our chances of getting Zouma permanently.
-
Goal! Feeney the captain scores.

Cracking season from our Under 23s looking to complete a league and cup double tonight.

The latest episode is down at 6.9 on IMDB. I thought it wasn't that bad, I think a lot of those poor scores are from people who gave them a bit of a free pass on the poor writing in Episode 3 because of the action and the expectation that more would be explained. Now Episode 4 is getting hammered for double the bad writing because there was no payoff and half of the stuff that happened in Episode 3, as we feared, basically didn't matter. The lowest score of any episode before is 8.1 for Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken, to put into context what a backlash it is for Game of Thrones to get a 6.9 on IMDB. That was the episode with the god awful Sand Snakes vs Bronn and Jaime fight scene and the controversial Ramsay-Sansa scene on their wedding night. This isn't just a few butthurt book nerds upset about nit picking. They genuinely might end up having dropped the ball here in the last season which would be a huge shame after the quality of the show for so many years. Next week's probable huge battle will probably save them for that episode but if they fuck up the intricacies of the final few resolutions and it feels as unsatisfying as some of the last couple of episodes worth of stuff, it will be interesting to see the impact on the show's legacy. It's sad to see friends of mine that have been addicted to this show in the past be completely lacking in enthusiasm when you talk about it now and basically starting to feel like they're only carrying on watching because they want to see how it ends.

Liverpool might not hit 97 points again in the near future but it's also highly unlikely that City can keep hitting 100 year in, year out. With two Premier Leagues in the bag you can expect Pep to shift more of their resources towards making sure they win a Champions League before he leaves so that may open the door for someone else. I can't see this Liverpool team getting significantly weaker for at least a couple of seasons and I also can't see any of the others behind reaching the level Liverpool and City have established for another couple of years so there's every chance you can win the league next season or the one after. Funny if you don't though. As for the phonecall, it probably is a Liverpool fan. There's enough of them out there that there's bound to be one who's genuinely that stupid. Doesn't exactly matter though.
-
I'm not going to laugh at them yet because if I overdo it Brighton will only turn into prime Brazil and win them the league on Sunday, and when I do rub it in it won't be to the lads on here apart from a bit of WUMming because they're not the weird Reds who come out with all sorts of tripe like "we should get a trophy for finishing 2nd" that was going around Twitter last night. I did see this one on Twitter earlier though that's worth sharing.

I have to counter argument the "why didn't she just kill Tyrion" argument. I think the logic is that it's a major taboo in Westeros to kill someone in cold blood during negotiations, which is different than the Bronn murder angle because it's not public and Cersei has plausible deniability if some sellsword assassinates Tyrion halfway across the world from her. However, if the logic was consistent then I'm pretty sure blowing up the Sept, including the High Septon and the actual Queen, and taking the throne from her dead children when she had literally no claim to do so, would have carried consequences for Cersei. When Daenerys cancelled the fighting pits in Meereen she faced a huge civil war even though she has dragons and an army of Unsullied. Cersei does something worse (exploding the Sept and half of the city) and doesn't even have dragons to scare people into not starting their own Kings Landing version of Sons of the Harpy. She faced the Sparrows as a backlash against too much war, then faces nothing when she blows them up? If this happened in GRRM's books or in the early seasons, the Sept explosion and Cersei taking the throne would have led to an entire plotline where she faced consequences for her actions and probably gets overthrown before Dany even lands in Westeros. Now I think about it it is actually crazy how Cersei is just allowed to rule in Kings Landing with no backlash for her ruthless approach, and her killing Tyrion in cold blood would have been in keeping with her recent decisions, and her getting away with it for no reason would have been in keeping with the loss of the 'actions have consequences' theme that made Game of Thrones what it is since they passed the book material. Dammit HBO.

That's proper embarrassing. How does Emilia not pick up on it let alone the rest of the crew who are responsible for that sort of thing.

Only @Lucas was able to really hold a torch to our champion and their season-long battle was defined by that epic 10 week duel in the Serie A round where it was Lucas who came out on top. @RandoEFC's season was a story of consistency and he completes the podium despite failing to win any of the individual rounds. A reminder of the story of this season - Round 1: Premier League was won by @Panna King with 8 consecutive correct picks. Round 2: Bundesliga was won by @The Palace Fan with 5 consecutive correct picks. Round 3: Serie A was won by @Lucas with 10 consecutive correct picks. Round 4: La Liga was won by @Viva la FCB with 6 consecutive correct picks. Round 5: Ligue 1 was won by @...Dan through the tie break after everyone fell in Gameweek Four. Thanks to all who took part. Last Man Standing will return at some point in the future.
