  1. Worrying that I had to pause for a second to decide whether those are real quotes .
  2. Leclerc had an amazing record in F2 last season. On a par with Hamilton. Hopefully he turns out more like Lewis than like Nelson Piquet Jr.
  3. You can't put Melbourne in the same bracket as those other tracks? Turn 1, turn 3 and the corner after the high speed chicane are all better overtaking opportunities than anywhere at those other three circuits apart from perhaps Barcelona turn 1 and Singapore turn 7. Baku, Shanghai, even Spa and Monza have straights where you generally see one car cruise past another with DRS which I don't personally class as overtaking, just one car driving past another. COTA has one long straight like that but generally is one of the new circuits that makes for some decent wheel to wheel action. If you look through the archives at Melbourne you'll find a lot more "classic" races than you would at most other venues that have been around a similar amount of time such as Hungaroring, Barcelona, Kuala Lumpur. Granted many of these are due to the nature of the first race of the season being more susceptible to drama and people making mistakes.
  4. I'd say it's pretty average for most tracks, a few decent places you can usually do it.
  5. Bottas took his time getting through the field in what was the fastest car. Goes to show how difficult it is to overtake these days as cars get more grippy and the amount of wiggle room in each braking zone continues to shrink. The feeling of Hamilton chasing down Vettel when he was clearly faster but knowing that he couldn't overtake unless Vettel made a significant mistake reminded me of Monaco. We've had dull opening races though in previous seasons which have been followed up by classics. Today was pretty boring but I'm not ready to make the sweeping statements many people like to start making about the state of the sport these days.
  6. Bad race, they still have a lot of work to do with these cars if they want to see good wheel to wheel racing. Take nothing away from Seb but that's one of the luckiest possible ways to win a Grand Prix these days.
  7. Bottas will still easily recover to 6th if not higher. Shame for him today but people on Twitter trying to sound clever and saying "this incident might be decisive in the decision Mercedes make about their drivers at the end of the season" need to pipe down.
  8. @Blue First time I think anyone's acknowledged my existence in this thread .
  9. Forgot that Vermaelen still exists .
  10. @nudge because I'm too lazy to read up on it what do you actually get if you subscribe to f1 tv?
  11. It would be funny if we were deluded and thought we had a great summer while everyone else called that we'd fucked up but most people were generally impressed with the business we did aside from not replacing Lukaku. Obviously we were wrong.
  12. Second half of this season has actually been pretty good to be fair. Last night's was exciting.
  13. I actually don't want to see us make big signings this summer. Much prefer it if we clear out the ones that need clearing out and just replace them with young, decent players. Then just need to find a manager who can grow the club by developing players rather than splashing out on "stars".
  14. The main issue with Walsh still is the lack of clarification over his role. Who decided to bid for Walcott and Tosun? Because whether it's Sam or Walsh one of them deserves mild credit for that.
  15. What a massive cunt he is. Just a slightly better version of Royston Drenthe. That man was born to play for PSG, spend most of the season show boating and dabbing in 5-0 wins, having one good game in the Champions League against a half decent but not elite side and using that to convince himself he's good enough to win the Ballon D'Or despite being exposed as utterly average when they come up against a Barcelona or Manchester City. Hope he does leave in the summer as he's a boring twat. #PogBye
  16. The walking dead is the sort of thing that doesn't really need to have an ending until somebody decides it's time. With something like that it's always going to get shit before it ends because they're not going to stop it while it's still good/profitable. I'm fairly new to the show but the quality of writing has really taken a nosedive and it always amazes me how people who do that job for a living can't see that if I can. Then again it's no surprise that they're keeping it going for the money.
  17. As with most things, I believe it will ebb and flow. In a couple of years someone will find a way of shutting down teams like City and everyone will try and copy that. Then someone else will find a way to break that model down and the cycle continues.
  18. Have you watched 16 of the teams in the Premier League this season? I agree with what you're saying though to be fair and Chelsea really need to find another way beside this constant cycle of managers winning a title then having a huge slump. The winning shows there's clear potential to create a dynasty there but it keeps falling down every time they have a chance to build on it.
  19. Yeah don't mind that as long as we get one pushing on from midfield. As long as Coleman and Baines are fit we can afford to be conservative in midfield and try and overload out wide. I wouldn't mind seeing Vlasic get some time in place of Bolasie but like you say, I'm not expecting to see a lot of him this season.
  20. Issue for us for the rest of the season not that we have anything else to play for now. Rooney and Gueye could play deep with either Davies or Klaassen ahead. Gives us a chance I suppose to see if Klaassen can show signs of being able to cut it in England. Anything as long as Schneiderlin doesn't end up back in the starting eleven.
