  1. Know it's 12th tier and won't probably interest anybody, stilla father as well as both his sons and his niece all scored, when St. Augustin won their Kreisliga C match. Mentioning it since it be flubbergasted to learn something like a father and his sons scoring for the same team in the same match has happened that often, especially if you add a women from their wider family also scoring for this men's team to the mix.

It probably is, yes. But this is the oldest cup competition in the world being totally devalued. One of the highlights is non-league clubs potentially hosting big giant clubs, or at least the chance to.

We all know the motive here - protect the wants and needs of a small percentage of bigger clubs and ignore that of the majority of other clubs that are involved. Managers like Klopp, Pep, Arteta constantly moaning about fixture congestion has influenced this.

I think a suitable compromise would be to do it like they do in France - if a team is drawn at home to a side 2 (or more) divisions below them, then the tie is automatically switched to a home tie for the lower league club. It keeps the 'romance' of the cup alive and it's what fans enjoy a lot about the competition.

Do it like Germany a team from top 2 tiers always play away if they face a lower league team.

But the extra income from a replay is such a big thing for lower-league clubs. The biggest point here is what @Lucas mentions too, why are PL clubs getting to orchestrate what goes on in rounds they're not even involved in.

It just smacks of more shady deals that the PL are willingly and knowingly involving themselves in because they have the clout and financial means to do so. But it's at the neglect of clubs that it actually impact more in a negative sense.

Isn't reaching the next round of FA cup more lucrative than the than the extras entrance income in England? Genuine question because Germany got rid of the replays because that was the case., me being not imaginative enough to envisible significant extra income from entrance for a club from Midsussex Football League, if they have a replay at the Ettihad aside.

Already agreed not consulting EFL was disrespectful.

Ridiculous decision made with only the 'elite' clubs in mind who moan about having to play the extra games when they can't get the job done in the first legs. Replays in the FA Cup have provided lower league teams with chances to go to stadiums they wouldn't usually get to see their teams play at, they've provided lower league teams with chances to go on magic cup runs, and they've brought in revenue for the lower league teams that helps them stay afloat in some cases.

Why were the Premier League consulted but not the EFL?

Not necessarly, since replays might have provided the lower league teams with the opportunity to play in a bigger stadium- the penalties provide them with a better chance to go through than the replays, though. Wouldn't bet on the lower tier teams always preferring the former over the latter.

Edit: Not consulting EFL is disrespctful, nonedtheless.

We know all about South Africa mate ;)

Checked it, you don't have colour me surprised. Although Salvation army, South Australia, South America and your suggestion did pop up on the first page, as well to be fair.

  6. Just read news, I'd missed when they were more highly current. Leading AFD politician is brought to court for "using symbols of unconstitutional and terroristic organisations" because the infamous SA slogan "Alles für Deutschland" (translates to "Everything for Germany") in a public speech. Thought that might interest you @OrangeKhrush since you said there were no fascist tendencies in the AFD whilst repeatedly calling the governmental parties Nazi without any calms.

PS: In case you don't know who SA were, just google them. You can colour me surprised, if the English speaking first research site wouldn't suply them given foreigners obsession with that part of German history.

Well a German can afford to say something like that.)

Well, if we're look at it a penalty will ever be goal, even in case the keeper jumps to the side of the goal it's shot to, if it's only shot hard and well-placed enough. Also it's laughable, people earning millions a year with nothing more than training a few hours a day and playing 90 minutes of football once or twice a week, get excused with bad luck, if they fail to hit an area as big as a goal from the distance of 11 meters, either they are completely exhausted, absolutely nervous, or undescribably incompetent if they do so; in no fucking way they're unlucky, yet.

Think the Arsenal game was always going to end the way it did. I had some hope that City would beat Real and progress but when you get to penalties you really are at the mercy of the lottery.

This is a misconception, in my honest opinion. You're at the mercy of your own nerves and realism rather than that of a lottery. Bernardo Silva was a victim of arrogant overestimation of themself yesterday, not that of bad luck. This lottery talk is an invention of these nations bad at penalties to play down their own shortcomings.

Yeah but now you're pulling for Bayern Munich, which is weird and at least a little bit unclean. Meanwhile, I get to laugh at City being unable to buy a second CL title - and the pain of last week has subsided and I've come to terms with the fact our season is likely over unless I get a very nice surprise.

And my reaction to the possibility of there being 1 less English team in the CL next year is: lol, good - fuck 'em.

Not pulling for Bayern, have to say comparing them to City is very disrespectful, though. Just a reminder City are state-owned, and oil-money doped, still got the glorious total of 1 European cup, as many as German 2nd tier club HSV, while Bayern are member-owned and have 6 CL titles to their name. Or to do compare Tranmere Rovers to Real Madrid, as well?

Going out on penalties will hopefully prove to be too traumatic for the rest of Man City's season.

What does the "Top 2 gets 5 champions league places" table look like now anyway? How far ahead are Italy & Germany?

Depends on tomorrow's results. Still if Liverpool and West Ham go out, especially the latter at the hands of Leverkusen that ship has sailed for the Premier League.

I saw that on saturday,  thought it was initially just a joke but it was legit posted on X

Regardless whether this special graffiti does or doesn't exist, this combination of the words posted on x and legit is beyond laughable for somebody doubting the believebality of news channels.

  12. Bernd Hölzenbein, who's dive during the WC 74  final match versus the Netherlands, only enabled Paul Breitner to equalize the match through a penalty has died at the age of 78. RIP Eintracht Frankfurt and Germany legend.

On a side note this mentioned dive was the reason the German term "Schwalbe" was adopted in the Netherlands for a dive. Not sure any other footballer caused the introduction of a football term from one language into an other with a single action. That alone is outstanding in itself.

  13. I've gotten used to show the same respect towards the English Premier league as most of the English members around here  show towards the Buli, since you have to take what you dish out.  "It resounds from the forest as you ccall into it" to use a German speech. And no, I don't think West Ham are as weak as  Ratingen, don't think their performance in the first leg, or their performances versus Freiburg while we're at it were good enough to worry Leverkusen either, though. I'd rather rest Wirtz for the matches in Dortmund and at home against Stuttgart, since I rate both teams better, and this is indeed my opinion.

I'd love it if they go the whole season unbeaten in the Bundesliga, because that would be unbelievable. But I am sure that their young manager Alonso, will want to win as many trophies as possible this season. The upcoming away game against West Ham is not going to be easy at all, although Leverkusen should still come through that match and make it to the semi-finals. But I think that the next 2 Bundesliga matches against Dortmund and Stuttgart will be really tough for Leverkusen. Leverkusen will only have 3 days between their away game to West Ham and their match against Dortmund. That's not a long time to prepare, so it will be a real test for the Bundesliga Champions. I don't think and I am not suggesting that Alonso will rest half the team for the remaining Bundesliga games now that Leverkusen have won it, but I definitely think he will prioritise the Europa League matches and the DFB Pokal final.

If there are any injury issues with some of the players, he is not going to risk playing any of them in the Bundesliga if they are not fully fit. He will prioritise the other 2 competitions that they are still in and he might risk some players who are not 100% fit in them. I am sure Alonso wants Leverkusen to remain unbeaten this season, but I think we know what he will want more. Either way, winning the treble and going unbeaten in the Bundesliga this season is the ideal scenario that the club would no doubt like to achieve.

It's incredible to think that Bayern Munich have won the last 11 Bundesliga titles on the trot and now Leverkusen have appeared this season and completely dominated the Bundesliga. It's also the 1st time that Leverkusen have ever won the Bundesliga and they have certainly now shrugged off their nickname of "Neverkusen".

After having seen the first match: Where does this come from? Even Sandhausen in DFB-Pokal played better against Leverkusen than West Ham, to be honest. Granted it took Leverkusen a while to score, still a 0-0 is enough and West Ham were as dangerous as my dead grandmother throughout the match. I(f I were Alonso I'd rest players in this match even when my next opponent were Ratingen in a friendly.

I mean he only got a contract until after the Euros. And he's a young ambitious coach who maybe wants to do some more club coaching instead of just coaching every few months.

Can see him turning down Bayern , if an other club of International reputation, naming Barcelona amongst others come asking, though.
