I was on reddit today and what was being discussed was IMDB's Top 10 Shows of 2024 thus far (pic below) But that's not the intent of this thread. What was interesting was a comment I read where it said something on the lines of, "High Viewership with a low rating is probably a more skewed perspective vs low viewership with a higher rating which may indicate actual quality". Which then got me thinking that it might be wrong. Nothing is universally accepted anymore considering how its nice to be all edgy without ever watching a show and simply going by internet commentary. Sometimes folks don't even watch it and read the plot summary to make judgement calls on the acting in the work being presented. Weird but it's the reality we live in. What are your takes on this?

Let's be honest here and say that controversy helps fuel content stats. If you're always agreeing with things, you get nowhere on the internet and yes, there were some plot holes that make it less than adequate as a show. Is it flawed overall? Yes. Is it flawed so much at the core that you get nothing out of it? No. I still don't fully understand why the Jedi did what they did even after they killed Sol and why they had to wipe out an entire coven but it drives the story and helps Osha turn the way she does at the end because let's face it she has zero motivation to go after Sol or the Jedi otherwise and the pacing of how she wanted to be a Jedi and now has decided to go the other way was all just setup for the finale. Was it executed in the most SW fashion out there? No. Do I think the director shouldn't touch another SW franchise again? Yes. But, Disney have something good here and I really hope they do something with it because it's got all the elements to make it into a good show should they stay the course on the second half of the season. I also think fans need to step back and stop holding onto canon vs TV and just appreciate the interpretation of what someone else wants to push out. It isn't always going to be 100% lore perfect but that's the beauty of adaptations. As long as you keep the core intact and play around with the external elements you'll get something that people will like.

Yeah this show isn't a 3.X / 10 its easily a 5-6 / 10 and for lots of reasons the primary one being is that they've had so much action related to Sith and yet we haven't really gotten any true understanding of which Sith are working with who even with the big reveal. I didn't care for the early parts of the show because I think they were just fillers but as its started getting towards the end they've started narrowing down on things to keep you engaged and then the plot really comes together at the end even if i still dont care for the twins and honestly believe that Sol found a gold-mine that Darth P (its what im calling him) is going to try and exploit in S2.

Watkins should have started the second half imo and not come on as a sub. He was forcing their defense to stay back vs occupy midfield spaces that were just squandered. In any event, congrats to Spain. They were the best team of the tournament and didn't let up till the very end. Deserved winners.

I think the subs in the last game really saved you'll in the end. Had you'll persisted with Kane and Foden I can't see how you'll progress. But, this is your mode of operation now and if you hold this Spanish side to a draw I guarantee you'll walk away victors here. I can't see you'll keeping them pinned for way too long since their passing game is very good and while they may be missing someone like Pedri to help the offensive side of things they have Olmo who has shown he is more than capable of providing enough problems to any defense.

I think it's time to retire the Ronaldo project. It's nice if you want to give him a run-about in the last few minutes of a game but he's lost his effectiveness. Both the cross from Silva as well as Vitinha get buried by a sharper Ronaldo and you're also making the moves by Leao and Silva ineffective by forcing them to play high crosses into the box when that is not their style of play at all. Martinez is lucky that the opposition were so bad at converting because had it not been for that one fact this team would be out of the tournament by now. I think they'll beat France, but they've got to start tinkering with their striker option to see what can be done. I also think if Ronaldo is told to sit one out after this latest performance, he might be more willing to listen to it. On the flipside maybe this kick up his nuts is exactly what he needed to start performing again. But I am more inclined to let him sit things out and let the team play a different way.

I am quite excited to watch this week's episode after watching the trailer.
