  1. Barnsley with a good score so far too. 5-0 against Port Vale. Both Wrexham and Notts County losing - they were both supposed to be pissing the league. Wimbledon just had a penalty saved by our keeper in our game - 0-0 still
  2. Great start for Watford! 0-0 for us at the moment but plenty of chances on goal for Grimsby which is good - we are looking likely to score soon.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but The Hundred started the other day. Hoping I enjoy it as much as I did last year.
  4. Lauren James is having a great tournament. 2 good goals in this game.
  5. I think there's less of a point in the 'modern game' compared to how it was when you had the likes of Roy Keane as your captain. There is still a point as it's that one figurehead of the team who acts almost as the second manager/coach on the pitch. They are there to lead the rest of the 10 players and pass on messages and motivate them. Gerrard in the 2005 Champions League Final is a good example of this - he spurred the team on to that comeback. Where it becomes less of a thing is when you are chopping and changing or your captain is not suitable (see Maguire at United) - it should be given to a natural leader within the team, or somebody with an affinity or connection to the club like a player who's come through the ranks or an experienced player.
  6. I didn't forget! 4 teams in action in the opening weekend - @Coma won with Dusseldorf and sets up a clash against @Viva la FCB's St Pauli who also won their tie. @Rucksackfranzose got off to a winning start with Karlsruher too. @Tommy drops points in his opening fixture, only managing a draw with Hannover against Elversberg so now he can choose to remain with Hannover or move to their opposition. It's great news for the 3 winning players as they jump to joint top of the table! And here are the fixtures, minus Bluewolf who still needs to pick a team
  7. Try again - no teams in a top flight league
  8. I'm in. So if I lose my initial £10, am I out? Either way, this is what I'm going for... Sunderland to win against Ipswich (2.45) Grimsby to win against Wimbledon (1.85) £10 returns £45.32 on Virgin Bet at 4.53 (yes I use decimal odds)
  9. They'll manage but Mullin's presence will definitely be missed. They've got Ollie Palmer who has quite a decent goalscoring record in the league so I imagine he will be the main man for this one.
  10. Seems almost like a Catch 22 situation for United at the moment. Let him play and people will be outraged; don't let him play and the other set of people will be outraged. it's not great press for United either way.
  11. Meeting some friends in Sunderland on Sunday so going to Sunderland v Ipswich. Impressed with some of the signings Sunderland have made so hoping they'll get off to a winning start. Plus my record at the Stadium of Light is pretty good too. As for Grimsby, this will be the true indicator of how well we've managed to recruit over the Summer. Pre-season hasn't given us the ideal results but we've shown some good performances so that makes me a little optimistic. Bookies are putting us quite high up this season and I'm hoping we can live up to that.
  12. 13. Dude that's amazing! I'm on holiday but I'll catch it on demand or set Sky to record it.
  14. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66221218 Ethan Ampadu confirmed for Leeds now on a 4 year deal.
  15. 11 players so far - still plenty of time until the season begins though!
